At Calculated Punkture Studio we are dedicated to bringing a new level of professionalism to the tattoo and body piercing industry. We are a gallery style tattoo and fine art studio. We showcase the talents of our own and other local artists in a variety of mediums including: drawing, painting, photography, tattooing and body piercing. We hold strong to the importance of keeping a comfortable and safe environment while maintaining a wide variety of art and artistic styles. We strive to be original on every level including artwork, atmosphere and attitude. Every client will receive a unique and personal experience with the specifics of their modification as the utmost importance and the basis for our quality of work. Our expert artists will work with clients to generate the most perfect custom design that they will enjoy for the rest of their lives.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Cal Punk’s owner/​artist Raul Ugarte, 36, was born and raised in the Antioch area. He attended the Univ. Nevada Reno where he made art his primary subject. He studied digital media/​graphic design while bartending and frequenting the local tattoo shops. After doing some design work for Ace’s Tattoo in El Cerrito, Ca he began his apprenticeship at Battle Born Tattoo in Reno in October 2005 under artist /​owner Archie Wood. He excelled quickly and was tattooing full time in only six months. He spent two years at Battle Born Tattoo and after 6 years behind the bar he moved home to work at East Bay Tattoo Co. in Brentwood, Ca. There he established his home client base over the next 2.5 years before deciding to open his own place in order to produce art and offer tattoos the way he feels is important in a tattoo experience
