Brentwood East Family Medicine

I used to go here when Dr. Kalra was practicing and I loved her. When she left I switched to Dr. Lohse and loved him. When he left I was assigned to Dr. Johnson. I have nothing pleasant to say about this doctor. The last time I had to see him I had a cold, sinus infection (? I never actually found out what it was) for almost three months. I coughed so hard I pulled my intercostal muscles in between my ribs. I was miserable. I slept an average of 2 – 3 hours a night if that… This went on for THREE MONTHS and I saw the doctor three times. Each time he failed to give me any medicine even for my cough and pulled muscle (bc he wouldn’t want me getting addicted to something-​come on!) and even told me he felt like it was all in my head and suggested I go to counseling! That was the sickest I can remember being in my adult life and to have a physician tell me it was «all in my head» and fail to help me was the final straw. I had already missed so much work seeing him that I felt I couldn’t go see anyone else but eventually I went to an after hour walk in where they (miracle of miracles!) prescribed medication for the sick person!
Doctor aside, all the front staff are fairly rude and incompetent, don’t take co-​pays as they should then end up sending a bill months later so you have to remember to pay for your MD visit from 6 months ago. There’s also pretty high turnover with the staff so it must not be a great environment for them.

I can’t say enough positive things about the office and Dr. Hartman. This is what medical care should be about. The staff is great, and my appointment times are always within a few minutes. They are prompt, courteous and treat me like a person. Dr. Hartman takes the time to talk to you and work out a plan together. Small things can impact the care and progress you make, and he actually takes the time to understand and develop an actual plan for care. I think this is what medical care used to be, and should be.

The Unilocal reviews for this practice were fantastic. When I called to schedule a new patient appointment, I got in within a week. I completed all the new patient paperwork they conveniently have available online to print, and I showed up 10 minutes prior to my appointment time. After patiently waiting for 50 minutes, I let the front office staff know that I could no longer wait as I had to return to work. They offered no explanation or apology for the delay. I will not be returning. Unfortunate. I’m new to the area and have family who need PCPs as well.

The staff are kind and efficient.
Dr. Hartman is an excellent physician. He pays attention to what I say, makes eye contact, and listens to me thoroughly before making a decision of how to help me. I am a nurse and work with many physicians, and I rate Dr. Hartman as a ¹⁰⁄₁₀ on the awesome scale.

I hadn’t seen a doctor in 10 years because I had such a bad experience with the last one. I got a spider bite that got badly infected so I went to urgent care and then the antibiotics did a number on me too. So I had see finally give in and see a doctor.
Dr. Johnson came highly recommended so I made an appointment. I have to say that it was the best doctor experience that I’ve ever had. From the front desk to the nurse to the Dr. everyone was respectful and nice. They really took the time to listen and never assumed anything. I now also highly recommend Brentwood East.

Great staff, lots of parking. I’m a lucky guy to have this awesome place so close. The doctors, nurses, the whole staff is great. Highly recommended. So tired of other offices that have tight parking and an unfriendly staff. My doctor really listened to me and even made sure that his referrals for me were within my insurance plan. So appreciated!
