THISISTHEONEBYSUBWAYONKITSAPWAY. I don’t usually write reviews, but I had to share how marvelous their Tortilla soup is. Full of seasoned chicken cheese very little tortillas(unlike Azteca where I end up with a bowl full) the broth is So GOOD! The best I EVER had! If you like tortilla soup you will not be disappointed. I dare you to eat it all in one sitting too! My husband had the Grande Burrito and he loved it. The service is great… We had a beer while we waited and got it to go. GOODSTUFF

This place is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-! I am thrilled that I live just minutes away from 8 yummy salsas to choose from and guacamole [all made fresh daily]. The location I go to, though, is on KITSAPWAY. The lovely ladies [who seem to spend a lot of time there] are readily willing to customize your order. So far, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed: chimichanga, tacos, enchiladas, and ALWAYS chips and all I can eat salsa. The only suggestion I would make to them is to get more drink selections. The fountain is Pepsi products [not a fan] and they do have a cooler with bottled drinks, but the selection is the same as what is offered at the fountain. We’ve only had one not so good experience here – the beans tasted weird. The person cooking was not one of the ladies, but a guy. So, we decided that if we see the guy cooking, we’ll find another place to eat that night. But, I’ve only seen him once in about 20 visits – maybe he was a substitute who didn’t really understand how to cook!

This place has really really good salsas. They have a little salsa bar and they are all good. I think they have the best burritos in town also. But I don’t eat meat at mexican places… so all I am going off is a bean and rice burrito.

The only reason I’m giving this place two stars(and not just one) is because their fish tacos were batter fried, as they should be if they are authentic to the Baja peninsula. Other than that, there was nothing authentic about this restaurant. The restaurant was completely empty on a gorgeous, sunny day that found downtown Bremerton packed with tourists on the ferry. That should have been my first clue. The owners are obviously of Asian or Phillipino descent(the décor is a strange mix of Mex/Asian) and seem to know absolutely nothing about Mexican food. They had no idea what agua fresca was, and the rather tasteless tacos were smothered with a strange, sweet red sauce on it that I’ve never tasted on Mexican food before. In addition, the tacos were garnished with salsa with cilantro(which I hate) and other condiments — usually, fish tacos come only with the fish, and all the other stuff on the side. Any restaurant with the word«baja» in its name should know that. Plus, the tiny cockroaches that crawled all over the table where we were sitting made me wonder if I was going to be hurling my fish taco at 3am from food poisoning. The countertops — and the entire restaurant in general — was crying out for a remodel. The uneven countertops from 1970 looked nearly impossible to clean. Finally, I have to wonder what made the owners choose to make and serve food they knew nothing about, especially when there is a very popular Mexican food franchise across the street? I’d rather see some authentic Asian/Phillipino food than poorly-done Mexican food any day. Blech. I hope this place goes out of business, and soon.
