They checker is nice and so are the other employees. They also have a great selection. However, they di not open at the time the hours on the window indicated and they sold me expired food. Meh. Update: I went back on an empty stomach. The place had a nice aroma of oriental candy and food. They made sure that the expired food was thrown out and what I bought was fresh and delious when I got home. Was also happy that they accepted food stamps. The cashier is also very kind:)

This place is a stuffy little hole in the wall with a small selection of mostly Filipino groceries at convenience store prices. Produce looked none too fresh, and most of it lacked price tags or adequate signage. They also carry some random items in the freezer banks at the side and back of the store — again, some of it labelled and priced but much of it not. Sorry, but I like to have an idea of what something will cost before I load up my shopping basket. The biggest problem with this place, though, was the nasty service I received. I was totally ignored by the checker when I walked in, though she politely greeted the Filipino couple that came in just behind me chatting in Tagalog. Because I’m white? I dunno. But then she copped a nasty attitude when I was ready to check out. Very strange. Guess I was disturbing her by trying to buy some stuff. It looks like my quest for a good Asian market on the Kitsap peninsula must continue… Oriental Tindahan ain’t it.

This was my first asian market I hit up when I first got to Bremerton. I was in need of some asian ingredients. They had things that I want but not need. I like that everything was priced well but it seems like its mainly for convenient. If you’re looking to make thai, cambodian, or loas dishes, this store lacks the right ingredients for you. It has tons of things for Islander dishes. Plus there are a lot of fish and lumpas!

Like Chevelle A., this is my most favorite oriental store in this area. It’s a little hard to say that because I have old friends of the family that own a store and a friend/classmate that owns one too! With this store, I don’t know the lady but she has always been really sweet to me! I believe that they’ve expanded a little since a couple of months ago, and it’s not AS hot but, yes, it still is pretty hot. My boyfriend had once said«Geez, maybe they like to make it feel like the Philippines» and that’s always stuck with me because it was very true at one point! They have a very wide variety of products and most of it is a whole lot more cheaper than any other of the stores here. In fact, other stores don’t even have a lot of the things they do! Unfortunately one little thing happened that’s made me subtract a star. Recently, I was shocked to see Tomi the chip snacks there and instantly picked it up and bought it. I was so happy to be able to try it again because I haven’t had it since I was really young and in the Philippines. When I opened that bag up I was filled with the smell and it’s nostalgia. However, once I started chewing, I wanted to throw up. It was soggy and tasted very moldy. I’m assuming that it was due to the hot temperature. So, you might want to be cautious when buying some of the stuff that’s hard to find. But that gross little experience has yet to stop me from going there. It’s a great store with as many things as your hear desires! I just hope they don’t raise their prices!

This is my favorite asian market in the Kitsap area. They are cheaper than all the others in the area, and they carry some things that you’d probably have to travel all the way to Poulsbo’s Central Market for, such as refridgerated ramen packs, Japanese desserts, or Oden. They also have more of a variety as far as Asian drinks. My only concern(and the reason a star is taken off) is their store is always HOT. Because of this, I wouldn’t suggest buying the drinks that are at room temperature, always buy them from the fridge. We bought Calpis there once and it tasted a little odd, eventhough it was no where near the expiration date. So it’s fairly uncomfortable to be in there sometimes. The lady who works there is always really friendly and she doesn’t make me feel bad for using our loose change. In fact, she’s always happy when I bring in change. C: That’s a plus to me.
