New Year Beer Fest

This was the first year for this event. Sponsored by Fritz’s Fry House in Bremerton. The event was held at the Kitsap Conference Center. Nice place for this type of event, right on the water close to the ferry terminal with plenty of parking. Breweries in attendance were American Brewing Co., Battenkill Brewing Co., Big E Ales, Der Blokken Brewery, Grove Street Brew House, Hale’s Ales, Harmon Brewing Co., Hood Canal Brewery, Port Townsend Brewing Co., Schooner Exact Brewing Co., 7 Seas Brewing, Silver City Brewery, Slippery Pig Brewery, Sound Brewery and Valholl Brewing Co. Most were Kitsap area breweries but the were a few from other counties as well. Great variety and not just the brewers signature beers but experimental brews as well.
Having been to quite a few festivals this one stood out because of the room that everyone had. Most are crowded and there are very few places to stand comfortably and not feel like a sardine. There was food available and free water along with a chocolate company (ChocMo from Poulsbo) offering free samples and chocolates for purchase that have been infused with several breweries flavors. All in all a good start and hopefully this event will grow next year.
