Sapphire Point

This site is perfect for a small wedding. I got to have the wedding of my dreams for about $ 100. We were able to fit about 55 people, a few were required to stand in in back. The trail to get to the site is a little long, I would recommend bringing water for everyone. The restrooms are not very good. I wish I would have cleaned them the night before. Parking is very limited, only 22 spots. This place is open to the public, so we had a little trouble with parking. Other than that, everything was amazing!!!

Amazing site for an intimate wedding! We wanted something small to celebrate our day with those most dear to our hearts and this was PERFECT! It was easy to get to and about a 2 minute walk from the parking lot.

Want a breathtaking wedding for around $ 100? If it sounds too good to be true, it’s not. Probably the most beautiful and amazing wedding I’ve ever played in was held at Sapphire Point. It cost the bride and groom around $ 50 at the time (Rates have gone up) and was one of my most memorable weddings.
Sapphire Point is on Swan Mountain Road between Dillon and Breckenridge. I’d recommend having directions printed out before you go, because cell reception is not reliable for everyone. That said, there is signage and it’s not too hard to find. When I did a wedding here, there was actually a bike race going on and even then it was still manageable. For weddings, there is a small parking lot, because this is a general scenic oerlook area, and an access point for hiking trails. The website specifies a maximum of 35 guests. I would venture to say 50 could probably fit, but, keep this to small weddings and ask them to carpool if at all possible.
Basically, Sapphire Point is an incredibly well-​placed overlook that is right above lake Dillon and looks out onto Breckenridge and the nearby mountain range. It is truly a breathtaking view, and I do not say that lightly. I have found no other venue or site as beautiful as this. It’s a bit rugged and rustic but it really shouldn’t be anything else.
Should you choose to use this as your ceremony site, there is nothing provided by the park service that governs this space. You need to bring chairs if you want, and you need to bring an awning or similar equipment if you want. It’s not needed– the couple I played for did bring an awning and it was almost too much. Chairs for guests were nice but guests could stand and it’s so beautiful I doubt they’d complain. This is still a public space, though, and people may walk by during the ceremony. While I was there, no one was disrespectful and most were very quiet and did their best to be unobtrusive. There are basic amenities like bathrooms available as well.
Obviously for Colorado, avoid late afternoon in the summer, because it will rain. It rained at the wedding I performed in, and it will rain, because it’s the mountains and it’s Colorado. So, do your wedding before 2 pm and you’ll be fine. Honestly if you have a smaller wedding and want a natural setting, I can think of no better site than Sapphire Point. It’s cheap, it’s breathtaking, it’s accessible, and it’s memorable. What else could you want?
