History

Established in 1987.

This adventure is fun for the whole family. Once snugly tucked under blankets, two majestic horses pull the red Santa Sleigh through a magical winter wonderland near Breckenridge, Colorado where magnificent tall Pine trees fade in and out of the night and snow glistens like diamonds in the warm light of the lantern. The sleigh driver, often accompanied by a friendly canine companion, shares stories that delight and entertain.

Wonderful time! The ride was cold, but they give you a blanket to cover you up. I would suggest taking another if you want your bottom to be warm. The ride in the dark was beautiful. I personally wish it had been a little longer, but it was amazing! I can not say enough about dinner– it was yummy! I was a little skeptical, but my chicken was moist and tasty, and my husbands steak was a very nice size and done perfectly! Don’t fill up on the salad ~ because the dinner is yummy. The apple pie for desert was scrumptious also! I enjoyed the hot chocolate as soon as we reached our destination. But, had we known that we could have brought wine, i would have brought a bottle for dinner. We watched the Molly Brown show during dinner, and it was a treat. Very entertaining and informative. So glad we went, even thinking of doing it again next year!

We went out on Christmas evening and what a wonderful way to complete the day. Even though it was snowing the first half of the ride we still had a great time. This was a phenomenal experience, it was a completely different thing to do. Everyone in our group loved it. We booked through Al, and he was such a pleasure! This company delivers an amazing evening. The sleigh ride was so much fun, the food was delicious (especially the beans), and Diamond Dixie provided great entertainment. If anyone is on the fence about the time commitment or the cost. don’t let this stop you. You will have such a fun evening!

As my sister Brenda C wrote below this was a real treat. Brenda’s comments on the sleigh ride being cold is true. Several things to bring next time. 1. either get two blankets or bring a small one with you. It goes under your butt on the sleigh ride… trust me you will thank me. The ride itself is astounding, its like being taken back in time for a brief 20 minutes. The second thing to bring if you want is your liquor. Other people had bottles of wine etc etc. I wish i knew this in advance. So don’t miss this adventure as it is a lot of fun!!!

We read a ton of reviews and decided on Nordic Sleigh Rides because of the show. We were certainly not disappointed. The people were very friendly down to the very last employee. The show was a lot of fun and the food was surprisingly good. We had bbq chicken and steak amongst our group and everyone was pleased. The sleigh ride was lovely — albeit COLD. The drivers were fantastic and obviously care a great deal about their horses which is important to me. All in all, we had a lovely evening and would recommend Nordic Sleigh Rides to anyone looking for a fun adventure. It’s also family friendly for those with children.

I read a ton of reviews of all the sleigh rides in the area before booking. I came to the conclusion that Nordic was the only one we would even consider trying. I am glad we did because it was great. Al, who handles the PR, was very friendly and had a great attitude. He also had some good jokes and stories to tell as we waited on the sleigh to be prepared. I cannot remember the sleigh drivers name but he was also very friendly and seemed extremely happy doing his job even in –21 degree weather. Yes, it was –21 when we took our moon lit ride at 7 PM. The building in front is nice and has clean restrooms. They also had super hot chocolate. The ride itself was partially through trees and partially in the open with a beautiful view. Honestly, just book with these guys and have a great experience. NOTE: We did not do the dinner, just the scenic ride.

It’s run by Breckenridge Stables. I was a little disappointed at first. I gave them my card info over the phone and figured that was the end of it, but the refused to just charge what I gave them and needed payment there, since it’s apparently cheaper to run. Since my cabin is just a couple minutes away, I was able to go grab it.
The sleigh ride more than made up for it. I highly recommend going near twilight hours (4 – 5). We were in the smaller 10 – 14 person sleigh, which I think was a lot nicer than the larger 28 person one. Because of that we got to interact a lot with our wrangler, Andrew, who was amazing. Getting to pet the horses before and after is a huge plus too, so show up early.
TLDR; Amazing experience, avoid the 28 person sleigh and bring your card again!

We were in Breckinridge last winter and took this sleigh ride with diner and show. They had steak, chicken and salmon. I had the steak it was amazing. My girlfriend had the salmon and it she said it was fantastic. The sleigh ride was a lot of fun. The pre diner show was fabulous. We had such a great time and can’t wait till next years trip!
