I had a boot problem that had hurt me for years. I had tried to get somebody to fix it without success. Joe listened to my description and fixed it! For a fair price! Whoopee!

Chuck’s thoroughness and professionalism were great and better the results were better than expected.

Just finished a complete and necessary retooling of my Scapra Maestrale boots. I don’t know what to say other than Justin is a miracle worker. In my opinion there are three elements to a phenomenal boot fitter, one is knowledge of the anatomy of a foot, two would be boot/​brand composition and an understanding of how certain plastics and fit should feel like inside when driving a boot, and the other and most important is having extreme patience and the willingness to keep working it step by step till it’s just right. We started the process today by agreeing that even a 50% improvement would be acceptable since the pain I was having was so excruciating and we figured there would be no hope in making an Italian last 26.5 into a 27. I was so wrong, and 6 hours later, punch by punch, hydraulic press, machining away, scraping, stretching, recooking liners, and probably over 20 back and forth trips to the tool bench, I’d say they are now the most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned and are 100% better than when I walked in. The shop is extremely friendly and if you’re in the market to purchase a new boot they have the top selection of the brands you want with complete full lines in their inventory makes shopping with them an A plus experience in every way. If you’re anywhere in Colorado or just passing through, make the trip to see A Racer’s Edge, I guarantee it will become a must for every season for the serious skier to the novice looking to step up their game on the hill. I’ll just add that every single customer that walked in while I was there walked out extremely happy and were given the same undivided attention and service. You owe it to your feet to get your boots serviced here!

Hi performance equipment and advice. Chuck is the man and a true professional who knows his stuff. A local daredevil/​stuntman uses his equipment and tuning on several life threatening missions and swears by chucks expert knowledge and service.

These guys know what they are doing! I bought a pair of ski boots at another shop and hit the slopes. After one day my right foot went numb and stayed that way for three days. Brought the boots in and Justin did an incredible job of making them fit perfectly!

Former east coast skier and know what edges are, these guys are great! I am a control freak on who touches my skis. It took two years and okay to crummy tunes before finding these guys. They touched up the side walls and edges in the morning and it was like skiing on rails. THANK YOU!!!

They are very helpful and friendly. I had bought some snowboard boots down in Denver and the shop heat molded them. While riding at Breck yesterday my right heel was killing me. Today I rode 4 runs and couldn’t take it anymore.
I brought my snowboard boots, which I didn’t buy here, into A Racers Edge which is clearly a ski shop. They took a look at my boots and listened to where the pain was and how it felt. They pulled out the footbed and heated it up to flatten it a bit so my heel would sit right on the bottom of my boot. I asked about him making me some custom footbeds however he was kind enough not to just take my money and sell me them, instead he told me I would not like them because they are specific for ski boots and would be too stiff/​hard for snowboard boots.
I highly recommend this shop to anyone and will 100% give them my return business when possible.

In one word-​SERVICE! I was having troubles with my ski boots, or should I say my feet fitting proper in boots. Super high arches, narrow heel and likely bone spur mid-​foot. Justin was amazing, used some lipstick and duct tape to identify the area and punched the boot out a bit. Quite a challenge IMHO since it was by the buckle. I paid a whopping $ 15 dollars for quality work. Told me to ski on the boots and come back if I was still having problems. Now my heel was slipping too much on the left. Justin wasn’t there but ??? I feel horrible I don’t remember his name helped me out. Shaved down the insole, added a lift and in the end it needed a wrap. All for free because I paid $ 15 dollars the day before. They are there to fix the problem and keep working until you are satisfied. I just don’t know what to say. I really feel I should have paid more. End result, I am happy with my boots and will bring the husband there next year for customized boots. Warning they are super busy. Be prepared to wait and have them work on multiple customers at once. You will not be disappointed!

I came to Breck with a new pair of boots that I had skied I one time previously. Day 1 of the trip, my feet and calves were in excruciating pain. I really thought I wouldn’t ski the rest of the trip.
My mom and I stopped into A Racers Edge and talked with a guy named Justin. He worked with me and my boots for about an hour. I explained everything that hurt and he was able to make adjustment to my boots. He gave me heel lifts and was also able to stretch the shell of my boots near my toes. He was extremely nice and patient and also gave me a few small pointers on my skiing form.
I had an absolutely wonderful next day on the slopes. Justin was like a miracle worker. Please stop in and see him at the shop if you need boot fitting!!!

I am a new adaptive skier who needed boots and knew nothing about the options available to me. Chuck is fantastic. He is so knowledgeable and worked so very hard to get everything perfect for me. He knew that I would need all sorts of modifications to my boots and liners and was excellent throughout the process. For someone who didn’t have a clue, I have learned so much from him in just the few hours I’ve spent with him. I also never felt awkward in having a non-​medical person deal with my disability.
In dealing with me, and all of the other customers I’ve seen him with, he wants to create a perfect fit so that YOU are comfortable riding. The customer service couldn’t be better.
I can safely say that now that I’ve had the pleasure of working with him, I will not go anywhere else :)

I think part of the reason why we come back to Breck every year is so that the S.O. can get his skis tuned at «A Racers Edge.» They do EXCELLENT work and are extremely fair about pricing. S.O. has taken his skis in to shops all over the place, but this is the winner!

I have been coming to Breckenridge for more than 20 years and am so glad to see Racer’s Edge is back in business. I have bought skiis and boots from Racer’s Edge many many times (but did not go during the previous incarnation with different ownership/​managment). The reason to go to Racer’s Edge is for the expertise and they are the best at custom boot fitting and that makes a world of difference if you are «the princess and the pea» like me. You get a personal experience by experts that have been doing boot fitting for over 20 years. AND they will work with you to get your boots right. When I buy new boots I get the custom insole and then ski with them for a day or two – then I go back to Racer’s Edge and they fine tune the fit. My feet have never been happier (and my skiing better).

I have taken 1 – 2 ski trips per season in the Midwest for the past few years. Based on this, my girlfriend and I decided it would be a great idea to invest in our own equipment. We both got completely set up at Goskand Sport in Chicago. The short of that story is that Goskand is a great shop with great value and customer service. I highly recommend visiting this family run business to anyone in the Chicago land area looking to get outfitted with ski equipment. One thing we overlooked when purchasing our gear was spending the extra cash to get our boots custom fitted.
Just this past Wed-​Sun, we attended a group ski trip to Breckenridge, CO. This was my first time to CO, and I must say, I will definitely revisit! We got a late start Thurs morning and only got four hours in on the slopes. Regardless, my gf’s feet, shins, and calves were in excruciating pain that night and she even had bruises later that evening. The next morning I called around town to get price ranges, time estimates, and ask some general questions about custom boot fitting. I was a little surprised when the two shops I called referred me to visit A Racers Edge. Upon calling, Chuck gave me a cost and time range and even got our names and expected time of arrival. I was impressed and felt like I was scheduling a private boot fitting. This was the deciding factor, A Racers Edge was the place for us.
The store is in a great location with free three hour street parking and very substantial hours of operation. Not surprisingly there were minimal customers when we arrived around 10am as everyone else was probably enjoying themselves on the slopes or still recovering from the party the night before. The shop seemed a bit small, but very clean and well organized with a cozy feel. Chuck was very welcoming and friendly. Being the only person staffed, we understood that Chuck was the only person to answer the phone or help others with sales when they popped in. When this happened, Chuck always excused himself and apologized for the delay. Very noble and professional. We were very impressed with the attention to detail, knowledge, and medical consultative approach to the fitting. Chuck inspected Trish’s boots, liners, and even her feet to get a good idea of her structures and pronation tendencies as well as skiing level. Chuck really knew what he was doing. His approach was to alter in small increments moving from less permanent to more permanent solutions based on each diagnosis after a change. Once Trish’s boots were set, Chuck followed the same diagnostic process with me.
I expected to pay almost as much for the fitting as we did for the boots based on all of the personalized exclusive attention we received. I was very pleasantly surprised, however, when checking out, and would have felt comfortable paying more for the expert appointment. From walking in the door to getting back in our car, we invested three hours. I thought this time was very well spent based on how much knowledge Chuck shared with us, the cost, and the fact that I feel like we all got to know each other pretty well. Chuck is a very kind professional business owner and knows his stuff.
We got out later that day and the entire next day. Both Trish and I realized the benefits of a custom boot fitting as both of us skied with great control and comfort all day long!
