John is the man! This place is the best warhammer place in the OC! Hands down!
Sure, oftentimes you can get stuff cheaper online but sometimes, you want the instant gratification and the friendly customer service. I have been here a few times and I am always greeted with a huge smile by John. John has been in business for 12 years and he is still passionate about the hobby and the customers.
I’m mostly a board gamer so the war hammer stuff is quite overwhelming to me. The collection here is solid and I’ve been able to find some games here that are sold out at many other places. The selection is definitely more ameritrash than Euro here. However, it is organized well and if you let John know what you want he will do his best to help you out. Furthermore, they have a loyalty system here and after $ 100 you get $ 10 off your next purchase! Additionally, John is pretty good at remembering names and faces so kudos to him!
Also, he carries a bunch of comic books, new and old. Furthermore, he has a hefty collection of magic the gathering. The best part here, is the 50 cent magic hand grab where you put one hand into a box and grab as many cards as you can. That is ingenious! As I have stated previously, this place is loaded with stuff for miniature war gaming. This place honestly puts game workshop to shame.
The community here is vibrant and they host all kinds of events everyday. You should check their facebook and email listing to see what is going on here. They have plenty of large tables here to accommodate your star wars armada, Xwing, warhammer, and any other game that you might play.
Overall, it says something to the quality of their service to be open for over a decade in this day and age. I have seen comic book stores and hobby shop open and close throughout the seasons but this is one place to stay!

My boyfriend and I were trying to find a local place to buy some comics when he moved in with me and we came here. Big mistake. Poor selection, not welcoming or friendly staff, and very dirty when we went in. Super disappointed in this place, but very happy with the new place we found about 10 minutes away :)

Great Store! Good selection of hobby board games (which is why I was there) but also a good looking amount of comics and miniatures. Very friendly staff. I don’t live in the area so it is not my FLGS but I wish it was. Because I was just passing through I did not join their loyalty program but the manager still gave me a % off. Awesome!

This is a large hobby shop with a small selection of comic books. At least half of the place is filled with huge tables, I’m assuming are for gaming tournaments. They have a large selection of models, miniature figurines, paints, games and all sorts of other hobby supplies.
While they do have a few large bins off back issue books and a section of graphic novels, they have a relatively small selection of current comics available. If you’re looking for the new issue of anything, get there early because they probably only ordered one copy.

AMAZING! STUPENDOUS! FANTASTIC!
My experience at this place is nothing short of amazing. I drive all the way from Chino HIlls, CA to do business with this place. The staff is great, the owner is better, and the environment is almost therapeutic. I haven’t been there to play games but I think that is so cool that on the weekend there’s a place for men and women of all ages to go and hang out in a positive environment. Instead of going out and creating trouble, this place offers a refuge for those that want to do something that doesn’t involve illegal activity. Very uplifting to find such places still exist for the comic lover. I have gone to many comic book shops where the workers have an elitist snobby attitude towards the non-​comic book reader but The Realm is so helpful and pleasant. I recommend this place to anyone that wants to get into comics or just wants to look into buying statues or comic book characters apparel. Please do business with this place so we can keep it around for a very long time. We need more of these places.

Stop by on Free Comic Book Day and got a chance to look around before getting in the ridiculously looong (length/​time) line (due to FCMD).
Had a lot to offer in terms of board games and comics but I wish they had more models or collectibles to purchase. Went to another one recently that was more spacious and more products. The day I went there were many $ 1 comics so I was sure to use the opportunity to add to my collection.
My girlfriend wanted to get in on the action too and decided to purchase two comic books but when we drove off, noticed she only had one and was charged for one. Maybe the cashier left it out?
Either way it was a chill time but I wish there was more.

This past Saturday was Free Comic Book Day — and I was heading up to see my girlfriend’s family in Fontana, so I couldn’t hit up my favorite store in San Diego. I did a little research beforehand, found out that The Realm Games and Comics was participating, and made the call to come here.
Even with all the crowds, the lines were easy to navigate — I got the books I was looking for, and even purchased a couple of titles for myself (20% off comics and graphic novels for the day). The staff were friendly and accomodating, and I noticed there were a couple of games of Heroclix starting for veteran players and newbies.
One star off, though, for the graphic novel selection being rather limited — I wanted to get a Street Fighter one for my girlfriend’s nephew as a birthday present, but the majority in stock were DC, Marvel, and Image. There are some independent/​small press titles, but the case that they’re in is rather small and I couldn’t fully peruse it due to the throngs present for FCBD. If you’re a superhero fan, this is nice, but if you like independent smaller publishers, you may have to travel elsewhere.
I will admit, though, that seeing an independent comic book store chugging along is nice, and that the support for card and tabletop gaming for players is good to see. If I lived in the area, The Realm would be one of the places I’d frequent on a regular basis.

I’m trying to help you out here. Your system is terrible and needs to be updated. I am the customer and you shouldn’t be making me go out of my way to do business with you. It should be an easy process. Also I only wanted 3 cards and I still had to go online to order them in your shop. Apparently your workers are lazy. If I wanted to order cards online I would use Ebay because I know I’ll get a better price. I walked into your store to leave with cards that day. That is the point of having a store. Any hobo can sell a magic card online. You are a business.

The realms is a really nice comic book/​hobby store in Brea. I play heroclix there occasionally when I can hitch a ride from my friend Roel, though now that I have started playing the pipe organ again it is getting less and less frequent since I practice till fairly late on Friday nights.
Discounts on heroclix products are offered on tourney days and they also have a small selection of singles for sale.
Will runs the tournaments here and he is a very nice guy and offers kick ass prize support, often out of his own pocket. The players are mostly easygoing though there are a couple who are decidedly unpleasant.
The owner is also very nice.
A very solid 4 stars if only they are located closer to where I live.

Hands down the best gaming and comic store in the area, and always worth the drive out.
Customer Service:
A++. All of the employees, as well as the owner are the prime example of what anyone in a customer facing position should behave like. It’s easy to come in and ask for reading recommendations, gaming recommendations, or just shooting small talk. They’re very accommodating and are willing to make special orders for you, often at a discounted price. One of the biggest appeals to me is that they offer a sort of cash back redemption program, where every $ 100 spent is a free $ 10 credit to be used on your next purchase.
Comics:
The Realm has what might be the easiest way of handling a pull list for comics that I’ve ever seen. All of it is handled through
, which makes adding, dropping, and subscribing all of my monthly comics, as well as the trade paperbacks that are released once or twice a year. Aside from the regular pulls, they’ve got a huge inventory of trade paperbacks and back issues from the majority of the comic publishers, as well as tons of comic related toys, statues, and merchandise. I love coming in weekly to pull my books, and I haven’t had many issues with getting my books on time.
Gaming:
They’ve got great tables for war games such as Warmachine, X-​Wing, Flames of War, and Warhammer that are free to use to anyone who comes in (though it’s etiquette to purchase snacks, models, or comics from the shop if you’re using the tables). They also participate heavily in the Magic scene, though I can’t speak for that as I play strictly table top games. The store also holds monthly tournaments for all of the major games, with entry being a fairly low cost, OR you can make a purchase as an entry fee. Fantastic way to handle participation fees.

Staff here is knowledge, friendly, and very helpful. Place has some comics, great selection of Warhammer, BUT a small selection of Heroclix. I’d thought they’d have more due to the tournaments they hold here. Munchkin is here as well!!! the one thing I did like was that they have a lot of starter packs here for Heroclix. Mage Knight is hard to find and found it here.

New to the store, and ready to spend a grip, I asked if they do any type of Amazon price matching. Rudely responded no, and said they would go out of business if they price match product, (which is understandable because it’s a local business, I get it) I was still intending to buy, until one of the employees said «sorry about that, have a good day» right after the «no». I felt like they wanted to kick me out of the store for just asking a question… Ridiculous. I went elsewhere in Brea to buy my products that day. Went to a few places before finding «Shuffle and Cut» and I was impressed of the pricing (which is way cheaper) and service was great. Maybe it was just that one rude employee with no people skills. Who knows, because this store just lost a customer.

One of the best comic shops in town. Extremely friendly staff and well stocked walls. Everything is organized in an easy to find manner, comics on one side and games on the other. They host games/​tournaments in the back which keeps it away from the main area. Perfect layout in terms of keeping those playing out of the main shop and away from those browsing. Warm environment with a great amount of items in such a nice neat space. It’s not only worth your time for the comfortable shop but also for the friendly staff. My favorite shop in all of Brea/​LaHabra/​Whittier/​Anaheim. Keep up the great work!

I’ve been coming here for the last 7 years as a magic player. The owner and staff are very helpful and friendly. The prices are competitive and they have a great selection of board games, miniatures, & comics. There is a ton of parking as well!
Friday Night Magic consists of a booster Draft with great prize support (promos, store credit, boosters). The players are all great people ranging from competitive veterans to casual beginners. If you are new to the game, you can always find a bunch of people willing to give you tips on drafting, deck building, play strategy, etc.
Wednesday nights consist of a modern format constructed tournament and the staff are talking about expanding to other formats for other days… possibly standard or legacy formats! They are the only shop in the area (that I know of) participating in the StarCity Games squirrel token month.
If you’re looking for a great place to play card games, role playing, table top, & board games with a great atmosphere… cheek this place out!

This place is the best. Well stocked, opens on time, knowledgeable and friendly staff. 5 stars!

review. I feel that if any owner is willing to take criticism and look at it as an opportunity to make things better than they are some one that I believe I would support. I would like to give him a Unilocal out saying thank you for caring as you do about the costumers that come into you shop. All my very best to you and your employees.

This is an amazing place to play Friday Night Magic. It’s one of the few locations in Orange County that does Limited/​Booster Draft for FNM, and the prizing is the best I’ve seen. If you go 2 – 1, you’ll most likely get considerable prizing, and getting first place I’ve never seen grant less than $ 24 of store credit /​the equivalent in booster packs (I always go for the store credit, since you can use it toward future drafts!) A generous discount is also given to regulars, and an event participation rewards system can unlock things like buying From the Vaults at MSRP. There’s also a membership system that gives a percentage of cash back on all purchases.
The community here is awesome, ranging from Jack the Mind Sculptor himself (check out his How to Draft videos on YouTube!), to a bunch of other friendly folks who would be more than happy to teach you how to draft, or give you deck-​building advice. There’s a growing Modern community as well.
The store owner and his employees are super nice.
If you’re at all interested in Booster Drafts, and/​or want a nice chance at FNM promos, head on over to The Realm. Even if you’re a new player, we’d be happy to help get you started. :) My wife and I are there most Fridays.
Lastly, the location is great! Easy access to the 57 Freeway, it’s across the street from the Brea Mall, there’s a surplus of parking, and there’s even a 24 hour Subway within walking distance.

Great spot for games and comics. I’m from Whittier where there is a bigger, similar store, but it doesn’t compete with the quality of this place.
The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. This store has great quality items. They have everything I need, every time I visit. Highly recommended for any hobbyists or comic readers.

Was in the area on business with my Partner, when I spotted this shop. First let me say I LOVE SMALL SHOPS LIKE THIS!!! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by A lovely man, I believe was named Johnson, and he was working with an equally nice man named John. They both were really friendly, even inviting us to play this cool/​quick cardgame that we ended up buying in the end.
They have lots of comics, seemed like a decent selection/​collection, a table area for gaming, a nice selection of boardgames from the really popular to harder to find titles, plus a ton of other really cool stuff i.e. action figures, etc. Let me reiterate that every employee in this store is really nice and helpful.
I guess that was the best part. I never felt like I was getting a hard sell from any employee there. Everyone was really helpful, and seemed like they enjoyed the gaming world and just wanted to share that with others. We walked out purchasing two board games… and we had only planned to take a quick peek. I have a feeling we will be back everytime I have business in town.

I’m bumping up because of consistency.
This is my runner up comic book store. This is where I go if I can’t find something at my main place or if I’m not in that area. I’ve been here many times over the past year and don’t have a complaint. They always have what I’m looking for and the employees are always nice. I highly recommend this shop for comics and nerd cards.
