Pete F. told me this place closed down a few weeks ago! I’m not sure if it is closed, since I went at the beginning of summer. I hope it isn’t!

Went for the first time to dinner… Sad to say that I really felt the need to take a star off for the overall place. The service was reeeeeaaaalllly slow and the food was pretty good — not great. Honestly, I’ve been spoiled by the other Indian spots which are a bit further away. I still think the lunch buffet is a great thing though — close and convenient. Had the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Lamb Vindaloo — both spicy(not spicy enough). Both good, still like the chicken more =)

Came here for dinner and it was completely empty. That’s usually worries me, but luckily the food here turned out to be pretty good. We ordered a basket of garlic naan and roti on the side, and got the chicken tikka masala and chicken vindaloo for entrees. It comes with jasmine rice. The portions may seem small at first, but it was really filling and perfect for two. The garlic naan came out piping hot and toasty, but it needed much much more garlic — it felt like we were eating just regular naan. The curries were both really flavorful and thick, but unfortunately, the chicken in the tikka masala was overcooked though the chicken in the vindaloo was perfectly tender. This place could use some improvement, but overall we left satisfied.

Look, I received one of those flyers from Masala Bowl in Chino Hills and I thought ok let me look around and see what other Indian Food I can find around the area. Then I stumbled across this House of Tandoor, and I thought oh cool 4 stars maybe I should take a look. I clicked on the link to their website and I immediately determined that I would never, ever, and I repeat, never, ever go there just because they have silhouettes of Japanese temples and an orange/red colored Mount FUJI on the first page. Dude, seriously, talking about identity crisis… man, if you paid for that webpage to be made, you should seriously ask for a refund and then some. No, I don’t even care if the food is good, but IMHO Japanese don’t exactly mix with Indian… especially when you have, and I quote«You’ve come to the right place for fresh and AUTHENTICINDIANCUISINE.» on the first page, right below the image of mount FUJI in ahhem, JAPAN. *sigh*

This place used to be much better before, when it was called«Masala Bowl», I used to eat lunch there every Sunday, but the management change, food became just awful… too bad!

I come here very often for their lunch buffet. I believe its 7.95 during the week and 9.95 on the weekends but it comes with a drink. If you love indian food as much as I do, then you will love this place. Be sure to dip the delicious garlic naan into the spinich(i think its called Palak Paneer). Or into the tiki masala. Mmmm mmmm good. The servers look really mean, but they are actually really attentive and nice.

Did the lunch buffet.(BTW don’t believe the website if they plaster you with the fact that the buffet is only $ 7.95 M-F. It’s true it’s $ 7.95, but this restaurant is closed on Monday.) The eggplant dish was cold, though served in one of the heated trays. The Tandoori Chicken seemed not done — I don’t remember if this is customary, but it’s a little unnerving. The Chicken Tikka was pretty good, but scalded my mouth — very high temperature. The naan was very doughy and not light and airy like I usually like.

When The India Restaurant in Artesia is too far a drive for our Indian fix, we go here. Sometimes we do take out(Murg Mahkni & Palak Paneer), but the best deal in town is the lunch buffet they have daily(even Saturdays & Sundays) for < $ 10, with endless naan. Most of the curries on the buffet are vegetarian or chicken, but every once in a while, they even have goat or lamb! Mmmmm! House of Tandoor has an edge over Shehnai Cuisine in Brea, which has slipped over the last few years. While not as delicious as The India Restaurant, it certainly hits the spot in north OC.

I just recently moved to La Habra from LA so I am open to trying everything and locating my «NEWFAVORITES» close to my new home. Thanks to Unilocal I secured a location for Indian today, The House of Tandoor in Brea. I arrived a little after 11:30 am. The place was empty, literally I was the only customer and the buffet was piping hot and more importantly DELICIOUS! This location has only been open for 5 months. Very Clean, Nice TV’s and Good Indian Themed Music. I enjoyed everything they had to offer. It’s a CHAMPAGNEBRUNCH all for $ 9.95 per person! Hell — — O! Located in a very unassuming location, a strip mall. Look for the Guitar Center sign and you are there. I left there almost 2 hours ago and I am still thinking about how good it was. Check them out, become a fan and then tell a friend. Why? It’s good and I want them to stay open! Yummy in my tummy = House of Tandoor You enjoy!

So far, my new favorite Indian restaurant since my first favorite closed down in Pasadena :(I’m not from the area but once I told my friend to find a random Indian restaurant that had a vegetarian option, we found the jackpot! It was the lunch buffet hour but we decided to just order from the menu. Our order consisted of the following: Vegetable samosa, Paneer masala, and bengan bharta. My favorite Indian dish before I stopped eating meat/chicken was the chicken tikka masala. Therefore, I LOVED the paneer masala the best which substitutes the chicken for Cheese! yay! The Indian waiter was good looking and super nice! ^^ I need to stop checking out the waiters –__–

Decided to take a chance, with the 21-star mixed in amongst the otherwise impressive reviews. Well, let’s just say I’m a fan. First, I like the décor, which is carry over from the previous owner(Masala Bowl). It’s contemporary, not gaudy. The food looks fresh and appetizing and tasted great. The selection is also broader than others in the area. The naan(garlic) is great. The service? The rice has pecan sprinkled in it. When the waiter found out we have an allergy issue, he brought us a plate of rice sans pecan. Honestly, I dont’ see how this place could be rated 1-star.

Was the beer the Taj Mahal? Or was it the Karma? Whatevers — maybe it was the 10,000, but regardless, there have been a number of occasions where my wife and I, Asian but not South Asian, have looked for Indian comfort food, and have eaten of the House of Tandoor, and while waiting for our take-out meal had a bottle or two of beer. Tonight marked the first time we actually ate in the restaurant, shrimp garlic masala and aloo gobi with basmati rice(included, you cheap-skates) and non-garlic, non-buttered, delicious, delicious naan. The place is quiet. It’s a Thursday, but it’s also the best local Indian restaurant we’ve eaten at(no, really! Cerritos not-withstanding, I’m talking in the Fullerton/Brea/La Habra/Anaheim area), so where are all the fans? The chicken tikka masala, just like our shrimp tonight, has real, actual, pricey saffron. The aloo gobi has minced pieces of green onion that we’ll regret later burping in the car with the windows up, but taste so striking. Chewy naan, fragrant rice, wrong beer — the Taj Mahal was good, but we must’ve preferred the 10,000 the last time we were there. A middle-aged appearing Asian-dude in scrubs with an even older guy, maybe his father or his uncle, walk in — yeah, they know. But where’s everyone else, all of the other people who tried the chicken tikka masala this past summer at the Taste of Brea street faire like we did, who also felt suddenly connected to a Subcontinent home they never knew? It tastes like food your mother made for you growing up, only the weird thing was that your momma wasn’t Indian. Don’t let this place close due to lack of business. Ignore the one-star reviews — outliers. Order a 10,000(at least, I think that was the beer we liked — if it’s not, order a couple more and you’ll stop caring), sit back, loosen your belt, and start eating.

My friend kept insisting that we don’t have to come here for lunch. Damn my cravings and this was the only Indian place close by. Royally f@cked! It has a nice décor and all but that hardly makes up for the bad food here. We ordered garlic naan and a lamb curry. A good naan melts in your mouth, this one didn’t. I got the Lamb Biryani for my entrée. Whats up with the green peppers in it, Biryani shoudn’t have them. Also, the biryani should be semi-dry, why is it wet and sticky. My friend got the Veg pulao which I tasted, it was flavorless and don’t expect me to add salt in my dish. It just doesn’t taste the same. I didn’t see any Indians when I was there and now I know. I can’t be back.

The food was great. Very flavorful — I loved the Chicken Vindaloo, my favorite. The Karahi Gosht was also delish. Everyone in the restaurant is friendly and helpful and the prices are a good middle ground. If I’m in Brea I would stop by…

When I think of Indian food, I think of San Francisco’s Tenderloin or Artesia CA… but Brea? I had a craving for some authentic Indian and was not in the mood to drive 30 miles to Artesia, so I decieded to give House of Tandoor a try. They used to be a fast food Indian joint called Masla Bowl and heard it… sucked. Im glad the new owners bought this location and turned it into a real Indian Resturant. When I first walked in, I was a bit skeptical because of my one foodie rule… DONTEATTHEREIFYOUDONTSEETHEETHNICPEOPLEEATINGTHERE. However, I gave in an needed my freaking Chicken Masala! Sat down, enjoyed the Bollywood music videos and drank some Taj beer before my food came. I was blown away. The food was just as good as it was in the Tenderloin. When you do go make sure to get the garlic naan and the somosas.

4.5 Stars. Chicken Tikka masala was delicious. Chicken was very fresh and huge white meat cubes that were tasty. Chicken Keel? was very good. Shrimp vindaloo was good but was hoping for better. Plan naan could be the best I have had in the OC. Chicken tandoori was fresh and full of flavor. The owner came by our table to check in and this place is definitely worth coming back to.

3.5 Stars I stumbled upon this restaurant on accident recently, expecting to find Masala Bowl. What a pleasant surprise to try their food! All the dishes that we tried were very good. I ordered the Lamb Tikka Masala(hot), and absolutely loved it. The tomato cream sauce is delicious. I could eat a bowl of the sauce alone with some Naan and be a happy man. We also tried the Garlic chicken(medium) which had a robust flavor, though it was slightly greasy. My table ordered a few other tasty chicken and lamb dishes whose name I cannot recall. The service here is excellent. One of the owners waited on us, and he was very friendly and gracious to my family, who are not very familiar with Indian cuisine. His recommendations were spot on for my one of my less adventurous party members. While serving our food he realized that he messed up and ordered chicken instead of lamb for one of the dishes, so he comp’ed us the dish and gave us both. It’s little things like that which I really appreciate and make me want to come back. For dessert, we asked for whatever our server thought we might enjoy. He smiled and said he knew exactly what to bring. This wonderful man returned with a plate of Gulab Jamun, which was absolutely phenomenal! The dumplings were soft and sweet and the rose syrup was divine. As noted by another review, they have a very inexpensive lunch buffet. I haven’t tried it yet, but am looking forward to so I can sample more of their food.

This used to be Masala Bowl. I liked Masala Bowl but House of Tandoor is way better. It’s very authentic. You can order whatever you want as mild, medium, or hot. There is a lot of things to choose from on the menu whether you’re vegetarian or a meat eater. I looooove the paneer tikka masala [mild, im not the spicy type] with a side of naan. I definitely recommend this place if you want some amazing indian food. The customer service is also amazing. Theyre sooooo polite here. There is a daily buffet also! and the best thing? THEYDELIVER!!! does it get any better? i think not. update: i recently ordered take out and i don’t think they’re quite used to deliveries yet. they got here really late and forgot a few things. the food is still great though
