Brea Improv Comedy Club

Horrible management! We will not be returning. My uncle who is 81 years old and sharp as a whip wanted to go see his favorite comedian that was performing one night. So I took him. However his knees begin to hurt after standing to long in the cold weather. So I asked kindly if he could wait inside while I waited in line outside. The bouncer in front of the door pulled out a chair and told my uncle to sit outside and wait. They were not handicap or elderly friendly whatsoever. If I could give them a zero star I would.

I came here Saturday night on a date. Parking was available for free in the back. There was a long line but everyone was able to get in because it is very spacious. Admission overpriced at $ 34 per person plus a two drink minimum inside per person. Of course the drink prices were excessive as well, and the waitress is pushy trying to sell you a larger drink than you would really like. Service was poor. Bathrooms above average cleanliness. I think I will stick to the Comedy Store in Hollywood.. .

Went there on a poppin Friday night. Comedian was great, service was alright but I didn’t expect much. The food could’ve been better but the setting really made up for it! Environment was perfect for the first date I was on! Would recommend and would come here again.

I think the best thing about this location of the Improv is that it’s not in LA. Which means free and easy parking across the street!
The club itself is pretty standard of your typical comedy club. Two drink minimum and the seating situation forces you to be close and personal with strangers.
We came here to see Gabriel Iglesias perform. Considering that the last time we saw a Fluffy Show, it was at the OC fair and we sat in the very back row. So watching the Fluffy Guy in a more intimate setting was super awesome! There was even a surprise appearance by Paul Rodriguez:
Ladies, consider using the ladies room before the show or during the opening acts. It’s a cluster eff after the show so you might as well wait and hold it until you get home.

Great venue, and even more excellent staff. They went out of their way to help arrange an amazing night. Drove up from San Diego, and would love to do it again.

If I could give this place a zero stars I would! Let me just start off by saying I purchased some tickets on groupon (don’t do it) and we did exactly like the tickets said to call and Make a reservation for tonight’s show when we decided to check online to see what time it will be starting we realize that the show was sold out so we called as we called in asked about our reservation they had nothing on file which is bizarre because we gave them our code that was on the tickets. With that being said the lady on the phone said she would call us back. She never did. This place provides the worst customer service and we haven’t even gotten to the show. It’s one of the worst first impressions that I’ve experience. Listen to all the 1 star reviews they don’t lie.

Took the kids yesterday to Family Fun Day. What a great line-​up– LOL funny for them and us, which is pretty hard to do. The place was packed with families. I hope they start offering this kind of family fun more often. We will definitely return.

Thanks again kids for part 2 of my Mothers Day outing to see on of my favorite female comedian, Cristela Alonzo. She was amazing and her opening acts Francisco Ramos and Don Hefty were hilarious as well.

Short and simple great comedias last night Drinks on the other hand sucked. my beer was warm and my wifes margaritas were horrible for a business who makes you buy 2 drinks minimum per person should have better bar service just saying. Would give it 1 star but we loved the show.

Ruined my moms Mother’s Day. My little brother deploys for the Air Force Next week and they ruined one of his last nights here. They did not even try to help us while management laughed at us at the door. I’ll make sure all my friends know not to come here and just got to the Irvine Improv. For my first time coming here will be my last hope this posts on my Facebook too.

The food here couldn’t be worse. Please take a few notes from the AMC dine in theater. I don’t mind paying for good food this place sells garbage

The absolute worst bait and switch. The ticket said nothing about a two item minimum per person. The entertainment sucked rocks. The first comedienne, and I use the term loosely, came out speaking Chinese. My wife thought we were in her nail shop. She was overweight, showed her bare midriff and said she looked like she could be two months pregnant. We left
My father said it best: I have been there three times. The first time, the last time and one time too many.

Comedy is always good. The food, drink and service leave much to be desired.
Last night the pricing on the two drink menus was different; the server informed us that all of the pricing was wrong and they’d just gotten the menus in. When I pointed out that a bucket of beer was listed at $ 4.00 his reply was «Yeah, I’ve been dealing with it all week, not even sure why they gave you those…» When one of our table-​mates ordered water he let her know «Well, there is an item minimum but I won’t call the cops on you.» Gee, thanks!
Throughout the show the other half of the (half filled) show was served a second round. We were bone dry. Another table flagged him down and he literally leaned around the booth’s corner to get her solo drink order then disappeared. Finally we got his attention and he brought the second round of drink and left the empties where they lay. Finally the check came out and we put in cash, which required changed. The show ended and we had to track him down to get the change.
It would have been very difficult to meet the «two item minimum» if we hadn’t flagged him down. I wonder how that police report would have read…

Great intimate venue for comedians, horrible prices for food and beer for guests! Wish it was in the middle for prices!

Great place to see some real talent, have some good food n drinks… The staff are great, friendly and you get fast service! No problem with parking!
It’s more affordable than going to the movies …

Went to see Marlon Wayans perform standup although both Marlon and Sydney were hilarious I have to judge the venue apart from the entertainment. Waited in line and it was around the corner off of Brea and Ash. All attendees were pre validated by security, ID check and hand stamp needed in order to get to the front. When approaching the front two young women cut in line and one would think they would be asked to go to the end. NOPE they were let right in with rest of us. It was very cold and if 100 plus people had to wait at least the security could keep the integrity of the system.
Ok so go in and it’s alright! They sit you at tables with people you don’t even know no biggy but damn could I get some elbow room!!! Nope the staff is packing every body in like sardines! All was good but this one patron blocked my whole
view! A big head plus a hat doesn’t work. So pay the VIP get the preferred seating and call it a day.
While the seating was still taking place I go to the restroom. Get it out of the way before the show starts. The restroom is too small for the amount of people they seat. Damn a mop and bucket would do wonders in this place. A melamine pad would have the floor look like new. The cleanliness of the restroom was disappointing considering they are located in Brea. The restroom is moments away of looking like a public restroom that’s beyond gross!
The food was subpar the guacamole on the nachos had that processed aftertaste not good at all but after a few drinks you could hardly taste it. Drinks weren’t bad weren’t phenomenal but weren’t bad just ok. Overall the show was good but I encourage VIP. If your are short you will be glad you did. Save your cash and don’t purchase the guacamole.

This was my 2^nd visit to the Improv, this time for Russell Peters. Unlike the Irvine location, this is set up like the pre-​remodel. We had reserved seats which was nice, so we had good views of the comedian after arriving a few mins to show time.
There is a 2 item minimum and that’s really easy to achieve. I wouldn’t recommend eating here as there are a ton of great places by the parking structures. Drinks are good and wait staff is great too. The bucket of beers proved to be a hit.
Easy in and out and while in the bathrooms you can hear the show going on so you won’t miss anything.

My friend gets free tickets to shows here often. Last night we saw KVON from last comic standing. He was hilarious!
With free tickets, you have to order at least 2 drinks. I got the Pinot Grigio and ended up getting three glasses ;). My friend got blue moon. We decided to share a plate of nachos with chicken ($ 15). It was a huge plate. The nachos were okay, I’ve had better.
The waiters and waitresses were great! Even during the show they’d come check up on you and see if you wanted to order anything else.
The theater isn’t super huge which is nice because it feels more cozy. There is a parking structure right in front of the improv.
Great show and great environment! Can’t wait for the next free show I attend ;)

Let’s be completely honest about this place: you are not coming here for an amazing food experience. Everyone knows the reality of this place is simply to provide something edible as you get high off the laughter and liquor coming here. With that being said, I need to split this review up in a way you’ll understand why the rating is 3 stars.
Food: 2 stars
The food here is absolutely mediocre at best, ranging somewhere from a Norm’s or Denny’s level but lower. There will be no real innovation and creativity with the food. In fact if you look at the menu you could see most of these foods could be bought at a Smart & Final and made at home.
Price: 3 stars
Pricing is for both food and tickets. As far as tickets for the show goes they are pretty reasonable, especially if you find them on Gold Star; however, when it comes to drinks and food they are making a monopoly off of you. The average appetizer ranges around the $ 10 mark while the burgers are $ 11ish. Here’s my recommendation, buy the burger and enjoy the free fries that come with it instead of buying an appetizer unless it’s the monster nachos you can share with another. As far as drinks go, they are also quite pricey with the lowest beer around the $ 7 mark. Because of this I recommend getting a bucket of beer to drink more for less ($ 36 for a bucket of 6 bottles).
Deco: 3 stars
You aren’t walking into a boutique hotel or a fancy casino. This is a comedy spot in downtown Brea. The tables are close, the seating is limited, and the room is draped simply with black walls and brick motif for the stage. If you have a large party with larger people you might find this place being difficult to enjoy with the crowded space. The restrooms aren’t much bigger either with the ladies restrooms always having a line.
Talent: 4 stars
There are some great talents that come through Brea which is refreshing. Whether it’s Gabriel Iglesias or Jo Koy (who is amazing!) a great amount of talented comedians come through this venue and their interaction with the audience is always rich.
Conclusion
The Improv is one of those places where a great act could really make a wonderful evening. However, it can really take a bite out of your wallet for the food and drinks that are supposed to help support a great night out. My recommendation is eat somewhere nice (or cheap) before getting here, pre-​game with some drinks, and dress comfortably for a hilarious evening at the Improv.

This place is okay, a bit old.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, but the show took too long to start. I almost fell asleep. We waited for one hour and half to finally enjoyed the show.
The comedians were funny and allow picture taken and willing to sign autographs after the show.
Make sure when u get the tickets, start lining up after thirty minutes you get there, cuz the line could get very long.
