Twice Upon A Time

Haven’t bought anything there yet but totally would. They have great selection, like most places you have to sift through the kitsch to get to the stuff that actually has value, but it’s a nice location, large airy clean looking store, and has some cool looking things. I’ll be back, it’s a nice place!

Flea-​markety collection of trinkets, collectibles, antiques and vintage clothing on consignment set inside an old industrial Main St. storefront in downtown Brattleboro. The quality and value is highly variable, so caveat emptor. Not enough in the way of quality furnishings for our liking.

The selection is very vast and the staff were very helpful and there are items to suite every budget. Although most items are quite overpriced.

I fully enjoy my weekly visit! Most item’s are priced to sell and a great deal of money taken in is DONATED to area Hospice services! I never leave empty handed and I’ve always had great interaction with employees! Every once in a while they open a bit late (10−15min) but from what I’ve been told it’s due to the Brattleboro time zone! :-)

Twice Upon A Time is a great antique and consignment store located in the heart of Brattleboro. Every time I come into the store I get lost for hours and spend a ton of money. This store has so many items in it, but I have never felt as if it were overwhelming. The staff does a great job of organizing the goods.
The last time I came into the store with my partner we spend a lot of time looking at their extensive jewelry section as well as their furniture. The items that they have in the store are incredible and I have found some unique trinkets at this location.
The only critique I have is that the prices on their good tend to be pretty high, so be prepared to barter. At times the staff is willing to work with you on a price, but at times they are rigid. Overall though, I would say that if you are in the Brattleboro area then you need to stop into this store. Just plan to spend a bit of time in here.

My favorite antique/​consignment shop I’ve been to hands down. I try to visit Brattleboro a few times a year and always make sure I stop here. They have 3 floors and offer a wide range of antique everything from furniture to paintings to instruments (including vintage clothes, bags, shoes, and accessories.) Plenty of awesome and unique finds here… I found a real alligator head once. I bought this vintage red jacket on sale for $ 25…beautiful and a great price! I do wish they had told me they were having a 20% off coupon on any one item… I know businesses are in no way obligated to tell each customer but I’m a bit disappointed seeing it now after having written a review.

My daughter was moving out of town, and we could not take all the furniture home with us. I spoke to the desk at Twice upon a Time, and they agreed to sell the two armchairs. They picked them up at the apartment (across the street). They priced them and sold them. I just got around to calling them after several months, and they had the records. They will be sending me a check for the amount I am owed. So all went according to plan. The chairs were very good quality, so someone got a good deal. If you are looking for second hand furniture, such as for an apartment, I would take a look here.

This place is great!
I often go vintage, antique, bargain hunting and the prices here are great! (But I’m also comparing them to Toronto prices, so that may be why). I didn’t really feel like I was in a store either. More like rummaging through my grandmother’s huge closet. There are necklaces, clothes, knick knacks, crockery, the randomest items will be found here. The great/​awful thing about rummaging through your Gramma’s closet is that everything is everywhere. I was looking for vintage cameras and suitcases and I found both on all three floors. It would be nice if everything was organized, but I think the shop may also lose some of its charm that way.
But, I had a lot of great finds:
–2 vintage cameras. Which I looked online, and are appraised at over $ 80 each which I purchased at under $ 30 each.
–A Nine West handbag in excellent condition for only $ 20
–and a cute black dress for $ 12
But also, keep in mind, my friends and I spent about 3 hours in the store. This is definitely the kind of place you can spend hours in.

Randi and her employees are so wonderful and helpful at Twice Upon a Time. My sweetheart and I stop by often and spend a few hours. I’ve found vintage boudoir shoes, plenty of silver plate flatware, pretty earrings… etc. It has three floors and numerous vendors, so there is always new stock. This is the place to stop by in Brattleboro!

I was visiting for the holidays from the west coast, when I stumbled upon Twice Upon a Time. I do a LOT of thrifting /​/​junk store shopping, and this is one of my top 5 places to find incredible antiqueing stuff. I wish i could have filled boxes and shipped them west, instead I just bought all my Christmas presents there.

First of all, I have never been in a store like this, where it was almost like an indoor mini-​flea market in that there were booths that people rent out to consign their goods. Do you know what this does? This makes for an AMAZING selection.
I could have spent hours in this store but unfortunately the man was with me. The pricing was different depending on the booth but I found most things to be pretty reasonable.
Goods range from vintage clothes, housewares, books, trinkets, memorabilia, jewelry and so much more. The man and I ended up with some books, a couple figurines, a rad woven purse (for me of course) and a jar of awesome (which was a $ 10 canning jar filled to the brim with all sorts of costume jewelry and trinkets)… all in all, next time I am in the area, I will be going back.

I was informed by the owner of this store that the Better Business Bureau adjusted their previous «F» rating of this business.

This place is great! It’s antique-​consignment setup, so it’s like going into dozens of tiny shops all in one. And this store is huge, with three levels. The basement is all furniture that I forced myself not to be interested in, because I knew I couldn’t buy anything that large.
I’m no antiques wizard so I have no idea about the authenticity of the stuff being sold, but it was all fun to look at.
There are a lot of vintage clothes in the back and on the third floor, with standard ‘vintage store’ prices.

Every time I visit Bratt I stop in at Twice! Been going there for well over 10 years and it is usually the first place we stop when we get to town.
I’m always on the hunt for retro kitchen and decorative items and have purchased some great stuff for my house. The staff goes out of their way to assist me if I’m looking for something special, definitely a local home town kind of place.
A destination shopping experience to say the least!!!

I don’t go to this place because whenever I go I will buy stuff that I won’t really need. So instead I’ll tell you to go.
They have a really good collection of trinkets and Stuff You Don’t Really Need. The place is kind of organized but prepare to spend a lot of time digging through stuff. They have some really nice clothing upstairs. They are usually kind of pricey but worth it if you can find a deal. The furniture, however, is way expensive. However I guess selling overpriced artsy things to tourists is kind of how the Brattleboro economy works, so I can’t complaint.

Twice Upon a Time, there was a city girl who traveled to the country for a little R&R and stumbled upon a veritable treasure trove of vintage dresses, party frocks and ladylike accoutrements… There were mink stoles to flaunt, demure hats and gloves to don, and chic handbags to carry. Lace, chiffon, tulle, wool and everything in between!
From the tiniest waist to ladies’ size 8 (or greater), there was an astonishing selection from decades of old. The prices were generally fair, although there were a few stained pieces here and there… Pick and choose wisely, as the shop offers a 10% discount for cash and carry! (Plastic is accepted, but not with a discount).
This tale does end happily as the city girl ended up with an armload of dresses as well as a few eyecatching knick-knacks…Success!

I went into Twice Upon A Time with my parents this past weekend and we spent a good hour just browsing all the fun antiques. What I love about this particular consignment shop is all the different little «cubby’s» that are rented out to individuals. Some people’s lives are in these cubby’s — with various pieces of really unique stuff — pictures, china, jewelery, knick-​knacks, old milk bottles, lamps, etc. I mean, you want to find it, they have got it! I stumbled upon a beautiful 1940’s table and chairs — which someone very lovingly refurbished and put on sale for $ 150 bucks. If I had need of a new table, I would have purchased it in a heartbeat.
Another fun fact: they participate in the Friday Night Gallery Walks in Brattleboro (the first Friday of every month, local shops offer special ‘gallery walk’ events to draw in customers)…they used to (and hope they still do!) have fashion shows where people (mainly high-​schoolers — as I used to do this myself back in the day!!!) get to don the vintage clothing and strut their stuff to the victrola.
A must see if you pass through Brattleboro.

Some very nice pieces with trash mixed in – but everyone shopping antiques wants some knick knack at some point. They had a huge oak library table for only $ 125 – I would have gotten it if my house were it larger. The owner said any price is negotiable. Not the best antiques store in town, but it may be the cheapest, and it is huge.

Love love LOVE this place! Bought a charming vintage cap here for only seven bucks.
Lots of well priced items, espically for antiques. A definite must-​see.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The store was awesome in terms of antiques, its a combination of used trash from China and prized treasures so you do need to hunt. But the staff were some of the bitchiest people I have ever met. I would highly recommend visiting this store, but really think twice (upon a time) about buying anything.
All three employees I met snapped rudely and inappropriately at me at some point while I was browsing. At the point in which I purchased a $ 250 rug because I was madly in love with it, one of the employees apologize for being rude, but one out of three apologizes is not very good. :(
