Hooves, Hounds & Whiskers Pet Sitting

Hooves, Hounds, and Whiskers was recommended to me by my vet. Between the «escape artist» terrier, over-​exuberant Great Dane, and geriatric, incontinent chihuahua, my 3 rescues can be quite a handful. However, from the moment they met Carol, they adored her! I no longer dread returning home, wondering what kind of mayhem they may have dreamed up while I was gone. They are always happy, relaxed, and calm– and my house is pristine! It is a huge relief to know that they are in such caring and capable hands. Carol spends the time truly focused on them, giving them the love and exercise that they crave while I am away.
Carol is incredibly accessible and accommodating. She recently stepped in at a moment’s notice to cover multiple sessions over several weeks when I had to leave town suddenly to attend to a family emergency. Because of Carol, I was able to focus fully on my family and the situation at hand, knowing that Carol would take such excellent care of the pups and my home.
Carol is keenly observant and diligent, and has notified me immediately when she has sensed any potential health issue/​worrisome behavioral change in my pups. She has offered to take them to the vet for me, knowing that I was several hours away. In addition to caring for the dogs, Carol really brings a holistic approach to her care– she takes in the mail (the Great Dane will eat it), checks on the bunny upstairs of her own accord in order to provide added peace of mind, feeds our fish, and has even noticed and let me know when my tank filter stopped working properly, so that I was able to replace it before any harm came to the tank’s occupants. I doubt that I would even have noticed had I been home. She is understanding of my geriatric chihuahua’s special needs including medication administration, extra care in monitoring of any boisterous behavior around him, and tendency to have accidents in the home, sometimes requiring fairly extensive cleanup.
Carol is kind, compassionate, and professional. She leaves a lovely note for you each session to keep you posted on your pups’ behaviors and activities during this time. I recommend Hooves, Hounds, and Whiskers wholeheartedly to anyone seeking complete peace of mind, true reliability, and sincere loving care of their beloved pets.

Carol did a fantastic job with our three dogs when I went out of town recently for work. She is very reliable and managed to handle a couple of issues with our puppy. We will definitely be using her again, not many people can handle two huskies and a Weimaraner!

We employed Hooves, Hounds, & Whiskers pet sitting to take care of our cats and hermit crabs while we were away for 4 weeks, and they were nothing less than fabulous! The apartment and all pet areas were perfectly clean and well cared for, and they left us a comprehensive daily diary of their visits which is very nice to come home to. I fully recommend them to anyone seeking pet care services in the greater New Haven area. They do all kinds of pets and all types of visits!
This was our first time employing pet sitters, and was a very positive experience. I was impressed that they didn’t bat an eye about caring for the hermit crabs too, which are admittedly weird and outside the basic realm of mammal care. They even changed the cat boxes fully right before we came home, which is something I don’t even work up the energy to do more than once a year. We had Irene primarily as our sitter, who did a great job.
As per the previous reviewer, we did find it a little hard to pin Carol down for key exchanges, but my feeling is that if her focus is on the pets and not the administrative details, that is fine with me.

I have been counting on this company to take care of my dogs and horses for over a year now. They are terrific. Jessica treats our animals like they were her own. They all have quirks and special needs and she attends to them with care. I trust her completely. She is also very flexible about hours and has gone the extra yard to accomodate our crazy schedule. I would highly recommend them.

We love HHW and always use Carol’s service when we are away. She is very detail oriented and our 2 dogs love her. We feel very safe and very comfortable leaving our beloved pets in her hands when we are away. Even on short notice, Carol comes through. I have recommended her service to many friends already.
