Best macaron ice cream sandwiches!!! Every time I’ve been here, there has always been a line out the door. I guess that’s the price you pay if you want delicious desserts and I definitely say it’s worth the wait. Having come here several times now, I’ve been able to try a lot of their macaron ice cream sandwich flavors. My favorites are the red velvet and the thai tea flavors.

I’m going to give it the full five stars it deserves. What didn’t I like about this place? Nothing! I love the charming classic ice cream parlour feel. The friendly girl behind the counter who, when we asked for an extra thick Oreo shake, explained it’s hard to make them extra thick but would try her best. And then did it. Boom! The excellent hand drawn weird pop-culture mashup drawings for Ashley’s that feature Breaking Bad, Rick and Morty, Jurrasic Park and more. It was charming, the ice cream was delicious and I walked out with a smile on my face. I like it!

Ashley’s is good but I don’t know how they survive with Ben & Jerry’s next door. B&J is real, all natural super fatty creamy ice cream whereas Ashley’s relies on having fun flavors and being kind of cute inside I guess. I like supporting local places like Ashley’s but the prices are sky high and as others have mentioned, B&J produces better, higher quality ice cream.

I would say their flavor choice is standard so if you are looking for something unique probably not the place for you. BUT the fudge is SOOOOOO good.

Went to Ashley’s in Branford today with my kids. We orders 2 milkshakes expecting to get an entire cup full! When I picked it up it was not heavy at all. I took off the lid to see the milkshake was not full. I questioned the guy as to why the shake was at least 3 inches less then a full cup. He stated his boss tells him to do that! He was told in the past not to use so much ice cream and that it is done by weight. Are you kidding me??? For $ 5.59 per shake I expect it to be full! I do not mind paying for a full shake but I do not like getting ripped off! There are other places to go for a full milkshake! Probably at a lower price as well. I bet Ben and Jerry’s a few doors down fills theirs up to the top! At any rate we will not be back anytime soon. Rather drive to Durham Dairy Serve!!!

Love it! Lots of toppings and flavors. If I am treating myself to some fresh ice cream and picking between Ashley’s and Ben and jerry’s — i always pick Ashley’s.

If you love dark chocolate they have the best bittersweet chocolate in the world I would say. Not a fan of many of their other flavors though. Great deals on bday cakes and pies!

If I could give this place 3.5 stars I would, solely because their ice cream was soft. Very soft. I like my ice cream really hard, and generally try to eat it as fast as I can once it begins melting. Sadly, my ice cream was melting before it event made its way into my kiddie cup. On the plus side, the flavors were incredible, so I imagine on a cooler day, or with the freezers kicked on to their coolest setting, it would have been lovely.

Ashley’s ice cream is super yummy. Fresh, creamy and delicious. Better than Ben and Jerry’s. It’s not cheap – but you don’t get cheap ice cream, so there you go! We love the milkshakes. We love the cones. My baby loves the cups. Great flavors – a good staple selection and then new flavors every day or week or so. Nothing radical but a nice mix of things like coffee oreo, banana oreo, raspberry chip and so on. Personally I prefer simpler flavors, but if you want Heath Bar Caramel Chocolate Mocha chip Cookie Dough, this isn’t the place for you.

Came here after dinner on Main Street and saw that it was voted The Best Ice Cream in Connecticut” so we had to give it a try. We had the Bittersweet Chocolate, Coffee Oreo and Chocolate Frozen Yogurt and they were all good! My favorite was the Bittersweet Chocolate because it was not too sweet and it was just right. We got it in a waffle cone and the cone was moist and chewy. So far so good!

This location is more quaint and welcoming than the New Haven location. I loved all the crayon drawings made by customers that virtually cover one wall. Service was also friendlier than the New Haven Ashley’s. It wasn’t as busy in this spot when I was there, so I even had a chance to sample a flavor, which was helpful since I was indecisive about what to try. I ordered a child’s size(1 scoop) coffee oreo ice cream cone and the serving size was actually quite substantial. I learned my lesson from being at Ashley’s in New Haven, where I realized their portions are gigantic. Tasty ice cream. It was delicious and creamy. Their hot fudge is also amazing. I tried a bite of my boyfriend’s sundae and it was generously loaded with toppings and chocolate sauce. They have ample seating inside and a few tables out front, which is where we sat. It is in a convenient location right on the main street in Branford across from the city hall. Good people watching spot, as there are more odd characters in Branford than initially meets the eye. It was a fun stop to make as we were passing through town. I’m not in this area too frequently, but I’d visit this location again.

This is a great ice cream shop. We have been here many times over the years, and I am never disappointed. The flavor selection is not that big, but they keep it interesting. Their sizes are appropriate(2 big scoops for a «regular» & their large occasionally appears to be close to a pint). Prices are a bit higher than normal, about 8 dollars for 2 regular sized ice creams. We went in at 5 minutes before closing on a Saturday night(they close at 11pm, which is awesome and yes I know, we are jerks). We expected to get the cold shoulder, but the staff was super friendly & nice! Having been in their shoes, it is admirable and impressive to experience happy workers 5 minutes till closing. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area.

I am close to obsessed with Ashleys — and it shows in my expanding waistline now that I have moved even closer! Which is good, and bad… the only ice cream that comes close or is equal, in my opinion, is Richs in Oxford, but that is quite a drive, albeit extremely fresh and delicious! The Branford location is better than the New Haven and Hamden locations, they generally have more flavors in Branford it seems. This is THEBEST ice cream in the area, dont waste time with Ben & Jerrys, this is the real deal. Their chocolate oreo, which is hardly around, is my absolute favorite flavor, but pretty much everything else is amazing too, and they have frozen yogurt for those of you who dont want to chance the waist… Their cakes are pretty good, but Id still go to Carvel for those(childhood obsessions… hard to beat), and this is a place where you can still get the egg cream… GONOW! and bring home a pint, or a quart, because you will want more…

OREOICECREAM!!! Yeah, that’s pretty much all I ever get but I’m not a huge ice cream freak. But that alone is worth the trip, IMO. I like their ice cream better than Ben & Jerrys, but that’s just me.

Ashley’s has the VERYBEST pumpkin ice cream around. I wait all year for them to make it. They’ve added a pumpkin ginger snap which is just as good. I’ve recently had Ben & Jerry’s Pumpkin cheesecake at The Big E, and it was comparable, but I prefer Ashley’s all the way. Hubby loves their black raspberry chip. Order an ice cream pie ahead of time for the holidays and watch it disappear.

Boo. Ashleys stunk when it started on College Street in New Haven and it continues to stink today at several branches throughout the suburbs. My advice is to go to Ben & Jerrys one block away. Similar prices but better ice cream. I never understood the attraction to Ashleys. I suppose I never will.

This has become one of our favorite ice cream joints in Branford. Every time we drive by the store front, I’ll hear my daughter shout from the back seat, «You know what I want!» It’s Ashley’s she desires, and Ashley’s she will get on most days. I will sometimes avoid driving on main street just for this reason. Not to say that Rita’s and Ben and Jerry’s don’t deserve some credit, because they also have their faithful regulars; But I will always spill my extra cash here at Ashley’s for exchange of delightful smiles on my children. Apparently, Ashley’s ice-cream is made at the main factory and then sent to all the Ashley stores in CT. Good thing, because their ice-cream flavor is reliable and trustworthy. You can grab your cone at the store closest to you.
