You walk in and immediately recognize that the dim lighting, stone work and dark woods inside Stonewood are as gorgeous as the outside of this free-standing, elegant building! You should consider yourself«fancy» when you go out to dinner here! Stonewood Grill & Tavern is about the only restaurant I know of within a five-mile distance of my home that IS fancy! You see, you have to understand. Fancy is not common in this town. Fancy I can only do myself at home. OR we go to Stonewood *wink. Grouper is well known and abundant in Florida, fished right on the Gulf, and is served widely in restaurants here. At Stonewood, I had their herb-crusted oven-baked Grouper with balsamic reduction drizzle over top. It was served with fluffy, moist rice pilaf and al dente French green beans sprinkled lightly with garlic crumbs. It was all done to perfection. Fish was tender and flaky and broke apart easily. Rice was so fluffy and puffed. It had great flavor. Green beans had snap to them, al dente, cooked just enough. Their Shrimp and Scallops were heaven. Each shrimp came wrapped around a single buttery grilled scallop, the scallops and shrimps done to perfection, accompanied by fresh broccoli with Bearnaise on the side, and fluffy rice pilaf. Their rice pilaf is really yummy, not just an afterthought like at most restaurants; they do something more. I’ve also tried the Blackened Chicken Pasta. It’s base is a Chardonnay cream, and has bow-tie pasta with fresh spinach, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, and grilled garlic bread for dipping into the rich cream sauce. I’ve also tried the crème brûlée, which is excellent in taste, but doesn’t travel well, *(more on to-go later), and key lime pie, which comes with a tart, indescribably unforgettably delicious raspberry coulis that will knock your socks off! Both are rich as diamonds and creamy as mousse. You won’t be disappointed with any of their desserts. They also have a great chocolate cake. Every meal also includes a dinner bread basket, with delicious choices of homemade breads. Their Caesar salad, with homemade dressing, also is a big hit with me. I order it every time, because all the elements that combine this salad, including the croutons, are all homemade, and I just can’t resist a good salad. Stonewood Restaurant opens at 4:00pm for Happy Hour nightly, until 10:00pm, except for Sunday’s, when they close at 9:00pm. The bar area here is relaxing and casual; dress is casual-chic. Please do not come here dressed in flip flops and shorts, as this is more a casual-chic restaurant. On all occasions I’ve been here I’ve interacted with the barkeep. Happy Hour has great deals on drinks and food on the HH menu, which changes occasionally. The bar is lively and full — always a crowd, and many people seem to prefer to eat at the bar. Past the bar are booths with luxurious seating. Relax here and have a good time. This is one place you’re not supposed to rush through your meal. *Note: All of our meals have been packaged«to-go» so far. The wait staff have brought out all our meals ceremoniously on a tray, with them going over each item, so as not to miss anything that was ordered. It’s a very good system for to-go orders. I must give Stonewood props for that because it works so well!

I have been here with my mom a couple of times when we get steak cravings. Or just to have a nice meal. Of course we had to get the bread basket. I love the pretzel bread the best. It had a buttery light sprinkle of salt and a moist inside. I would love to dip these things in a cheese sauce. YUM! YUM! UNDERCHEFSSPECIALS I had the Chopped Sirloin ~ Angus beef with mushroom gravy, crispy fried onions. Steamed broccoli and herb scented buttermilk whipped potatoes. I kept switching back and forth with meat and potatoes till I had enough. It sure filled me up and I would have this dish again. It also comes with steamed broccoli on the side. I asked for a béarnaise dipping sauce on the side. The crispy onions on top was a nice treat. I have always wanted to try a steak that had that topping and that’s one of the reasons why I ordered it. I had to get dessert and I got the chocolate indulgence and it was fantastic. It is flavorful. I appreciated that there weren’t any chocolate or tiny chocolate chips in the middle of the cake where there is a six layer of frosting between cake. This would be great with the vanilla ice cream next time. SEEYOUSOON!

So decided last minute to grab a bite for dinner and my DIL did a Unilocal search and found this restaurant. What a find… the ambiance is very nice and even the outside sitting area waiting for a table is super comfy. Only drawback is the outside waiting area has ashtrays and people are smoking with the smoke blowing over you. Our waiter Abe was awesome. We had the bruschetta and fried oyster appetizer. The bruschetta was by far the best we have ever had. The side of balsamic glaze was absolutely amazing I though I could drink it all by itself. I had the Boursin stuffed beef medallions and DIL had pork chops. Both meals were absolutely delicious, well seasoned and beautifully presented. Only thing we missed was not getting any of their fresh bread we heard so much about. I forgot to ask because we were so enjoying our meals but as we left we saw it on all the other tables. BUMMER! Not like we didn’t have enough to eat. Great meal and will definitely be back

Food — Vegans: this isn’t a place where you can mod the crap out of your food. HOWEVER, you can still get damn good vegan options. I chose the roasted beet salad without the cheese. It was good, just maybe not what I was expecting. Mostly beets and very little salad. Their fries were great, but cooked in the same oil as meats. So, if you can’t dig that, this isn’t a place for you to order them. Their wine menu is pretty nice! Bring a friend and share a bottle on Wine Down Wednesday. Great selection of bottles are half off! Service — Holy crap! I asked our waitress probably 50 questions about their menu because nearly everything on it looks amazing, but maybe not able to be veganized. She was a real trooper, which was awesome. Ambiance — My only real issue is the ambiance. Booths remind me of Denny’s and the music is pop hits of 80s, 90s, and 00s… I’d expect it from Hooters, but a little weird for a place like this. The service, food and wine are too good for the furnishings and music. I’d come back for wine with a friend, for sure. Service: 5 stars Ambiance: 3 stars Food/wine: 4 stars

Nice place for date night! They had a good wine selection. The music was a little off for the atmosphere.

Great service! The food(filet mignon) was right on time and cooked just right, but a little lacking on the seasoning. My wife and I both enjoyed the pretzel bread with butter. We will definitely return.

The food was excellent, and the service was quick. It was a bit pricy, but we anticipated that. The desserts were worth the splurge!

Haven’t been for a while. I ended up sitting at the bar. The service was so so, but the food was terrific. The wings are really good!

Like this place the drinks are ok and the crème brûlée is great, but the steaks and beefs all have an enormous amount of fat, which leaves me to wonder did I pay for steak or fat and grease!

Horrible Dinner — On December 19th had dinner here. Ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. Has to be the worst dinner I have ever had. It consisted of a large flat bowl swimming in gravy and peas, 4 minuscule bite size pieces of chicken and then a small 3″ by 3″ piece of puff pastry laid on top. And the entire concoction was cold. First, this is not pot pie. Second, the lack of chicken. Third, it was cold. They should remove this abomination from the menu.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in the area. When you walk in the door the ambience and atmosphere makes you feel confident you will be getting a delicious meal. I also love the clean open kitchen looks. Makes you feel confident your food is being cooked with care and quality. Starting with appetizer, I’ve been here numerous times and can hands down say they own #1 worlds best bruschetta. If you eat there, you must order that, or you will be missing out on great things in life. I don’t even particularly like bruschetta, but I will marvel over theirs all day and night. Meals where hearty and delicious. My NY strip steak was cooked to perfection, and I have a critical eye for the grill as a past cook. They nailed it! The side items tasted fresh and were great compliments to the main course. The others I was with also said this was some of the best food they’ve tasted in a while. This was a work meeting but I brought home a desert for the wife. The server was excellent in accommodating me, by waiting till the last minute to get the ice cream and hot brownie cake so it was super fresh when I got home. Safe to say I got some good brownie points when I got home(pun certainly intended). Overall Stonewood will always be on my favorite places list to go. And don’t forget to order the bruschetta!

#293 On my official day of oldom wife took me for dinner to the Stonewood Grill. We had been there once before, liked it, it’s close to the house so it was back to The Stonewood. Reservations were at 7 and we were seated immediatley. Abe, our server was very personable and although our dinner service started slow it was soon at the right pace with Abe seeing to our every need. I loved the bread basket containing 2 pretzel bread sticks and 2 dinner rolls all served warm. Abe brought us our glasses of wine and side ceasar salads. The salads were just a bit underdressed but I’d rather have it that way than drenched. They were very tasty. For my entrée I ordered the Shrimp and Scallops served on rice pilaf with broccoli. Wife had the Ribeye and baked potato. My dinner was 6 large shrimp wrapped around a good size sea scallop grilled over an open wood fire. They were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of grill marks. To say they were delicious would be a gross understatement. The best bites were the ones that the juices from the seafood leaked on the rice which resulted in a fabulous bite of heaven. Wife’s steak was also a thing of beauty. Good size, nice char on the outside and red/rosy pink on the inside. Juicy, tender, flavorful, it was a great steak. We skipped desert but I’m sure they’re just as good as everything else. It was a super evening out with great food for under $ 100 with tip. What else could one want?

Took Frank here for his 65th Birthday dinner. This is a causal/kinda fancy place. Nicer that Longhorn but not as classy as Berns. A little noisy but not too bad. We arrived just before 7 and was told by our waiter that it was happy hour til seven so if we put out drink order in right away we would get two dollars off a glass of wine or eight dollars off a bottle. So we each ordered a glass. I ordered the ribeye steak dinner($ 29 plus $ 3 for a side Caesar) Frank ordered the shrimp and scallop dinner($ 24 plus $ 3 for a side Caesar) I got a loaded baked potato with my steak. Frank had broccoli and rice pilaf with his. Both were delicious! No complaints about the meals whatsoever. Portions were generous. The bread basket left a little to be desired, but no biggie! Our waiter, Abe, was very nice, checked on us frequently. He messed up on the cost of the wine, but you better believe I didn’t let him get away with it. He offered Frank a free Cappuccino for his birthday, but Frank Is not a Cappuccino kind of guy. I was a little disappointed he wasn’t given a little dessert. All in all a great experience. Food was awesome, waiter was good, just no dessert.

Comfortable setting and interesting menu. I had the Tuscan Chicken one night and their filet mignon the next. Food was quite good and well presented. The chicken came with a thin slab of goat cheese on it, My one complaint is that the filet was not as tender as it should be. There was bit of stringy fat in the cut, when a good filet will cut almost like butter. Our waitress was awesome and very accommodating, and the staff all around is really great. Also on the upside, they do try to have interesting specials and the menu overall has something for everyone. The ambiance is also great.

Probably one of the best restaurants I have ever been… The ambience is very nice and food is just amazing. We ordered buffalo shrimp for appetizer. presentation was elegant and taste was perfect. Lamb shank came with generous portion… it’s very tender and gravy was yummy. we also tried black grouper which was seasoned very well. Finally finished our dinner with dessert. the magnificent chocolate indulgence… it’s served with scoop of vanilla ice cream… very delicious. perfect way to end the dinner!!! We will definitely come back and try all other dishes.

My girlfriends took me here for my birthday. I have been here a couple of times and have never been disappointed, so why 4 stars because i think there food and drinks are a bit overpriced. The Bleu Chips are there House-Made Chips, Fresh Herbs, Bleu Cheese Crumbles, Balsamic vinergarett it is delicious I get that appetizer every time I go. It is done just right and taste so fresh each time. It is sinfully delicious. I have had the cedar plank salmon and filet mignon. The customer service is great and the atmosphere is relaxing and elegant

When here in the evening time and enjoyed every moment of it. The decour and dimly-lit, pleasant atmosphere is very reminiscent of a «High-end» style very good quality wood and stone style in the architecture. It almost reminds me of a Seasons 52 in a way, but with their own personality and charm. There is a full wine display behind a glass wall for customers to look at ahead of time before being seated at their table. The food is amazing and done to a high standard. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable and friendly. All in all, in the rain experience.

I had the calamari and bleu cheese chips as appetizers. And for my main course I struggled between choosing between the chicken pot pie or the chop steak. In the end, beef won. The calamari are basically tenders, meaning thicker strips, versus the traditional rings. Calamari in tender form are usually more chewy so it depends on ones personal palate. It comes with a tasty sauce which is pretty much all you taste; the same with all calamari usually. The bleu cheese chips were a mountain of soggy texture chips because of the brown drizzle(balsamic?) and bleu cheese drizzle. There are also chunks of bleu cheese. It was pretty good but the chips could use a better texture. Finally, the chop steak was average for me. However, being topped with fried onion strips and mushrooms, the steak made it’s way into my belly. It was also served with steamed broccoli and a scoop of mashed potatoes. The steak itself was dry but there was some sauce that helped. All in all, a great place to eat, although pricey. Friendly ambiance and great service.
