Generally, the mantra«you get what you pay for» is pretty accurate, however, what happens when your experience is far less than what you paid for? I have frequented this location for years and generally expect no more than fast food service with a little flare. The food at Steak and Shake is not bad for a sit down fast food experience. However, this experience will likely be my last. We visited on a Thursday, 4:26 pm, and were one of 5 groups of patrons upon our seating. They were out of crayons for the little one but we had a pen handy so she was able to fill in the activities her kids menu. The waitress took our order, which included a double order of macaroni and cheese for my daughter as well as a side of sriracha sauce to go with my girlfriends meal. At that time, upon the servers suggestion, we also ordered milkshakes. The food order came out fairly quickly but incorrect. The macaroni was a single order, which amounts to about 1⁄3 of a box of Kraft Mac and Cheese, a less than filling meal for a growing 7 year old(hence the double order requested). The sriracha sauce did not come with the meal as requested. The server advised us she had put in the order and she would have to check on it. I find this ironic because it’s much like ketchup, you dispense it from a bottle into a little serving cup. We were seated by the front door, and while eating, we watched a mother, her daughter, and small child walk in and stand at the«wait to be seated sign» for a minimum of 7 minutes. In that time they were never once greeted and ultimately they walked out. Keep in mind, this was around 4:30 in the afternoon and there were a total of 5 groups of people seated within. As they left, another group entered and stood and waited for several minutes at the«wait to be seated» sign. They too were never greeted. Frustrated, one of the girls in the group walked up to register and requested service. She came back and waited another minute and finally was forced to take it upon herself to seat her group. After self seating her own group, and still without service, she had to walk up to the front and grab menus. The meal was good, however, we were all parched as we had completed our beverages leading into and during our meal. There was to be no refills on this day. The remaining ice in the cups saved us from dehydration. The server brought us our bill and advised us our shake order was in and should be right up. The time was 4:47. Apparently, happy hour is between 2 – 5 and shakes are half price. I say this because at 5:07 our server advised us our shakes were taking so long because the«happy hour rush» was backing things up. There were 6 groups inside at this time. I walked up, frustrated, and paid my bill while still waiting for shakes. My girlfriend’s shake came and had obviously been sitting for some time as it was more like a half filled cup of liquid topped with an excessive amount of whipped cream to make the cup appear full. After another 5 minutes of waiting I walked back up and asked for a refund on my other 3 shakes as I was tired of waiting. The«manager» acted irritated, asked me where I was sitting, and as he came around the counter the server was delivering our last 3 shakes. The time was now 5:16. He asked«you mean those shakes» as if I should be appreciative that after 29 minutes I had finally received my shakes. As I reached my table I inquired of the server how it could possibly take 29 minutes to provide 4 shakes to my table in a restaurant filled with a total of 6 groups. She said she was sorry and upon a little more questioning, revealed that drive thru takes priority over dine-in patrons, so the kitchen was«busy» filling the drive thru«happy hour» orders. This was by and far the worst dining experience of my life. I don’t expect much from a dine-in experience at a fast food place, so to leave as disappointed as I was says a lot to just how terrible the service is at this location.

Without a doubt one of the worst dining experiences in Florida. The staff seems to be poorly trained. The restrooms are deplorable and smell terrible. Certainly a lack of cleaning. Makes me wonder what the kitchen must be like. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.

OK so I don’t ever take the time to write reviews. However considering I use to work at this specific store I was a special kinda mad. Two times in a row now I have been through the drive through and both times asked for cheese sauce, was charged for cheese sauce and even asked the drive through employee if there was cheese sauce in the bag. Both times with two different female employees I was assured there was indead cheese sauce in the bag. I know I should check before I leave but I don’t and both times I got home just to discover no cheese sauce in said bag. It’s a minor thing but get it together where has the standard of service gone? Sincerely pissed off cheese guy

Love the food. Service a little scarce and slow on a Saturday at 12am — but do yourself a favor and get a Salted Carmel Pretzel milkshake

Service is horrible and the restaurant was not even half full! My cup was dirty on the outside and chipped. When I said something to our server so offered excuses and brought me napkins. What I really wanted was a new glass. When my burger came, it didn’t look like there was any cheese. When I said something to our server she said it was next to the tomato. I flipped over my sandwich and next to the tomato was half a slice of cheese. She said«see there it is» and walked off. Our milkshakes took 30 minutes to get to us. You could tell they had been sitting in the window for a long time because the whip cream topping had melted and the shakes had no thickness other than the huge chunk of banana. The entertainment of this evening was counting how many drive thru orders needed to be walked outside throughout our meal. I counted 5! Next time I am craving one of their burgers, I will be going to another location.

I don’t know why I’ve come back here more than once. It’s the worst run steak n shake around, maybe one of the worst anywhere. Dirty, slow and they get it wrong more often than right. And the crane machine stole my son’s money to boot!

Steakburgers are awesome and any drive-thru cashier who doesn’t sneer at me because I’m buying burgers at 2am is okay in my book. Frisco melts all the way, baby, unless they’re doing a particularly interesting specialty burger. The triple-pepper is pretty good. Shoestring fries get cold quick, but that just means you have to wharf them down fast! And a turtle milkshake to wash it all down helps out. Don’t expect fine cuisine at a place with checkered tiles, folks. Get your greasy grub and get out.

The food is good and affordable. The shakes are amazing. The place is pretty clean. And the service is good. My waitress was really nice. The service was fast. Had a great time with my family. Wish they had a steak and shake in New York.

One one of the oldest restaurants around the Brandon area it could use some cleaning around the tables, tile floor, bathroom especially the windows. Food isn’t that great it takes forever to get served when there is only few customers. You’ll have to ask someone about your food order or for a drink refill. I would look for somewhere else to eat at.

Horrible, horrible drive thru kid. Absolutely rude, answering questions in a sarcastic tone with zero customer service skills.

I like their onion rings, and when I stop to order it, I got tricked by the good look of the burgers on the board. However, after series of disappointment, I decided not to go there any more. The smell when they open the drive throu window makes me feel sick and want to drive away immediately, although when I get their food, it smells good! But that smell from the window is stuck in my head and I can’t get over it anymore! Another thing is that the food is full full full of fat! As if they fry everything including the burgers! So, no more Steak and Shake for me!

This was, sadly, our Easter Sunday meal(don’t even ask, ha!). It was probably about 4, and one table was occupied when we went in. We were seated pretty quickly, and given a choice of table or booth. It took a bit too long for our server to ever come over and take our order, but when she did come, at least she was friendly. It took a little long to get our food, considering the empty restaurant. The shakes were good, and the boys snarfed their meals(sliders and grilled cheese), but my frisco stayed untouched after the first bite. Something tasted a little funky with it, and I was paranoid after reading someone’s review that said they always get sick after eating here! I didn’t want to take any chances… I had a long drive ahead on alligator alley!!! I lost my debit card on this trip, and I suspect it was here… the good thing was, when I realized and called my bank 2 days later, no one had attempted to use it at least!

Came here with four friends and could see that they were busy, though there were still several empty tables. We stood and waited 10 minutes to be helped before I decided to go up to a waitress to ask her if we needed to seat ourselves(note: I saw at least three different servers who I’m sure saw us waiting), to which a waiter or(busboy) came up and told me no, that they were busy and there was still a party of 5 waiting to be seated. I said ‘Ok, I was just wondering because we have been waiting for ten minutes and no one has helped us.’ He told me again that they were busy, so I said ok and walked away. I got my friends and left because they obviously weren’t going to take care of us any time soon. I never get offended when restaurants are busy, but the lack of ANY service, plus the rude waiter, ticked me off. You would think someone would at least tell us how long the wait would be. Needless to say, the McDonald’s down the road got our business instead. Stay away from this location. The one off Bloomingdale never gives me a problem.
