Chatting Children Speech and Language Center is a pediatric speech-language therapy practice that specializes in the evaluation and treatment of communication disorders. We treat children who demonstrate developmental and learning disabilities, oral motor and articulation delays, expressive and receptive language delays, Auditory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, pragmatic difficulties, reading/writing/spelling difficulties and difficulties with word retrieval. We offer comprehensive speech and language evaluations, speech and language screenings, individual and/or group therapy sessions, school or home visits (when possible), school observations, parent/teacher consultations and inservices for professionals or families.

Established in 2013.
Chatting Children Speech and Language Center was established in the Fall of 2013. With the population growth of young families in the Ashburn area, particularly Brambleton, this business was established to meet the needs of a growing community.

Chatting Children is owned and operated by Julie K. Cotter, MS, CCC-SLP who has been working in this field for over 14 years. Julie worked in the public school system in New York City for two years and has been working in private practice in Washington, DC for 12 years. Julie is certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and is licensed in Virginia, Maryland and DC. Julie specializes in treating toddler, preschool and school aged children with oral motor, articulation, language and reading disorders. She has extensive experience working with children who have been diagnosed with Apraxia, Autism Spectrum Disorder, receptive/expressive language disorders, Auditory Processing Disorder, ADHD and reading disorders. She is trained in PROMPT and in the Phono-Graphix Reading Program. She uses many of Sara Rosenfeld Johnson’s oral motor programs, Lindamood Bell’s programs (e.g., Visualizing and Verbalizing) and the Kaufman Method for Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
