M.A.C. Cosmetics

The Lady at Mac was Amazing she immediately knew exactly what I was looking for, She took her time with me and with my mom, And my mom hasn’t worn make up since the 80’s it was nice to get her correct match and make up, The lady was so spot on and patient with my mom love Mac forever.

This place is so lame. I went there this weekend to buy some concealer. I sat at the counter for 20 minutes. There were 4 people working and not one greeted me – not even to say «hey I am aware you are here, let me just finish up with this customer». Instead, the one male there (who looked like he was in another world) went ahead and waited on a customer who showed up after me. I mean, really? All I wanted to do was purchase something. I’m writing to corporate.

This counter at macys can get busy! But I’ve learned to just go in select what I want and then ask to try it directly. Since it’s always busy don’t expect special personalized treatment unless you have an appointment. I’ve personally never had an experience when anyone here is rude to me. Maybe I am lucky but the girls I have encountered are always nice and helpful.

Ok few years later and the Mac employees here are different. The folks that helped us were genuinely kind, and had great makeup on! I think for the most part, it does help to have an idea of what you are looking for prior to coming to the counter.

This is the worse place ever there was a very pretty dark skinned girl working and I wanted to exchange something… She was the only one working and was focused on these two disgusting older mexican ladies getting slammed up with makeup. So when I went to exchange what I purchased she said in a rude tone that I could not return the products there because I got them a real Mac store in the north shore. She was more concerned about cake facing these two old woman which I’m sure they didn’t even purchase anything. Yes I was going to exchange a product but also purchase more but after the attitude I was giving I will never attend that counter

I won’t be going back to this counter to have my makeup done ever again. The only plus I had with this counter was that one of the girls (I think she’s latina but I’m not sure) was helpful in helping me find the correct shades of foundation and concealer. But I scheduled an appt for my face to be done because I knew I was going to be buying at least $ 50 worth of products so I said why not. I don’t know if it was because I told the girl I wasn’t going anywhere or because it was 15 minutes to when she was going to clock out. But she did a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE job on my face… I mean I could’ve done SO MUCH BETTER than what she did. I asked for something not too dramatic but also not something I could do at home and she literally ruined my face, I looked like a clown. I’m dark skinned so doing makeup on my face really takes time and this girl didn’t do that. I mean she used makeup on my face that was made for a lighter person. She killed my eyebrows. you could still see the line where she drew the pencil. I really was disappointed.

I walked in right at 10AM on Saturday to see if someone could do quick makeup. There were a few people working, and no customers. The girl informed me that they do not start taking makeup appointments until 11:00 and they were booked until 4:15. I went over to the Mac at Nordstrom and asked the same thing– 1 girl working. She graciously took me to do my makeup. When I walked out through Macy’s and by the Mac counter, there were now even more people working, and 0 customers. I will never go back to the Mac at Macys, the Nordstrom has much better customer service. The last few times I’ve gone to Macy’s Mac to purchase products, I’ve had to wait a long time to be serviced.

Agreed; some of the ladies that work here have attitudes that needs to be checked but for the most part when I’m visiting this counter I already know what I’m getting so I don’t have to deal with them for too long.
But there is a young lady that works there (god I wish I remembered her name) that’s always helpful and always friendly and pleasant to be around. She would always tell me to put in an application and go out of her way to give me the website. She was a sweetheart.
But all in all this counter is okay; they usually have the products I want in stock.

These btches are rudddde. Like hunny you work at a kiosk essentially why the f do you have all of this attitude.

I’ve gone to different M.A.C counters and I feel like this was one of the most helpful and nicest place that I’ve gone too.
I stopped in after I rushed out of work from slapping makeup all over my face, they didn’t judge or give any dirty looks. They were entertaining and helpful to find the best foundation and concealer for my skin type.

I went into this MAC counter yesterday, and the girl who helped me seemed nice, however it turned into something else. I told her what my color I wanted and she insisted that another color looked better on me. Once I got up to the register, I asked to see my regular color again and she told me I look gray with this color, and still continued to put the color she liked, I gave in and got home and if anything the color she recommended looks gray! I was so pissed, until I called and they said I could exchange it, that is the only thing that saved my day, after spending almost 30 bucks on a compact you want to be happy with it.

This counter is AWFUL. They are so snotty and rude. Everytime I go there, it’s like I’m inconveniencing them by being there. They give me an attitude no matter what question I ask, and they try to spend the least amount of time with me possible. A woman asked if I was «all set» and I said no, I was debating between either getting a blush or bronzer. And she replied, «well they’re two different things.» YEAH I’m well aware, I’m asking for your input or opinion. She then left me alone and I had to stand around waiting for someone to help me grab the product I wanted from a drawer. I only bought a setting powder because I had a gift card and then I left. I have never had any good experience with this counter or any of the people that work there. We get it, you work for MAC. That’s great and all but you lost a customer. Not that any of them care, because it was clearly more important to fix their makeup instead of helping customers. I will be heading to Nordstrom from now on for any MAC purchases.

Don’t understand any of these reviews here! I love, love, love M.A.C! I will not purchase any other cosmetic. BUT, M.A.C.
I stopped in after work today. (A bit ashamed of how dirty I was after working a 9 hour shift at work-I’m a florist and it’s a busy flower holiday) I excused the appearance and asked if I could please have some one help me with a new color foundation that I really didn’t like the color I had been using. She gave me some wipes to clean my skin! SUPER excited, since I felt so dirty from work! She also spent tons of times with me and picked out the perfect color for me and I loved it!
She also took tons of time with me and not got aggravated or not once did I ever see any sort of «eye rolling» when it took me forever to decide on my eye shadow color. AND. it took me a long time. She was super patient. Then after all that time. I never noticed the new Christmas arrivals and decided to change for something totally different… she totally just chuckled and helped me. No attitude.nothing. She helped me with a smile and it was greatly appreciated after my long and exhausting day at work!
I love all my M.A.C. makeup I bought today. and the staff was totally amazing!!!

Where do they find the people who work at this counter?
When I first became a M.A.C addict 5 or 6 years ago I came to this particular counter a lot, because it was the closest one to my house. Back then the employees were nice and helpful. But my last few visits have left me feeling pretty angry and upset with the way I was treated. The staff is rude, and if they don’t think they’re going to get a big sale out of you they don’t really want to bother with you.
A little background: I own A LOT of makeup. I probably own as many (if not more) eyeshadows as they have on their displays, and my lipstick and lipgloss collection is pretty scary as well. I rarely wear much anymore because my two young kids keep me pretty busy and I’m not going to spend an hour putting on a full face to go to the mall. For a night out, yes. For a day out with the kids, definitely not. So if I’m at the mall with the kids I most likely won’t be wearing any more than some lip gloss.
So last Saturday my sister and the kids and I went to the SSP to get a gift for the wedding we were going to that night, and decided to stop by the M.A.C. counter to check out the new collections, and to get some ideas on how to do our makeup for that night’s event. It was pretty busy, since it was a Saturday afternoon and they were having an event, so most of the «artists» were busy doing makeovers. We were just looking through the eyeshadows when one employee came over to see how we were doing. I really liked her eye makeup, so I asked what she was wearing, figuring I’d try to recreate it that night. She smiled and said that she had to ring someone up, but she’d be back right after. She was pulling products out of the drawers so she talked with us while doing that. She could have just told me right then, but then she asked if we planned on buying anything. WTF? I told her maybe not, since I owned A LOT of makeup, but I really liked what she was wearing and if I didn’t already own it I would buy it. The smile left her face, and she said, «Oh…okay», and then walked away. We figured she’d be back after ringing up her order, but we saw her give the items she’d pulled to the person at the cash register, glance back at us, and THEN SHE WALKED OVER TO HELP SOMEONE ELSE!!! Wow. I didn’t realize we were in high school here. At this point another employee had come over and started talking to us so my sister, who had been eyeing some lip products, tried on the ones she was interested in and then bought them. So, because this first person didn’t think she’d get anything out of us, she actually lost a sale. Good going.
Don’t even get me started on the time I asked another employee what she was wearing on her eyes, and she ROLLED HER EYES AT ME before answering. And didn’t even bother answering correctly. She told me the name of one color, when it was pretty obvious that she had on at least 3 or 4, and wouldn’t admit to it, even when I said it looked like she had more on then that. I don’t plan on ever coming back here again, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else either. If you want people who are helpful and nice, go to the counter in Macy’s at Downtown Crossing, or the store on Newbury Street. Or, if you really want to stay in the suburbs, make the drive and go to the store at the Atrium Mall or Burlington. Anywhere but here.

How did I go twenty years without owning anything from MAC? I had come in about a week ago with a picture of a celebrity whose makeup I liked. Jen, my makeup artist, was extremely helpful. She did two looks for me, the picture & a smokey eye. They came out perfect, dramatic but no drag queen. For my next event or night out I will def. make an appointment with her.
