It means so much to me to be able to take my daughter to a bookstore. With today’s technology it’s a dying breed. It’s like wonderland to the both of us. Thanks BarnesAnd Nobles!

Always friendly and helpful staff. The café is nice. The only problem I have is that the seating in the book store is gone. Those comfy couches and deep chairs were nice.

Great selection of manga and comics. Lots of great clearance deals too. And it’s not too crowded even on a Saturday. Typical B&N.

I’ve been going to this B&N for over 10 years and these days I take my son there. I’ve never had a problem with anything. I’ve never visited the café bc to me it’s a bookstore, not a coffee shop. Yesterday I took my son(age 7) so he could use the gift card he received for Easter. He already knew what two books he wanted so it was a quick and easy visit. When we got to the checkout he placed his books onto the counter. The cashier greeted him and spoke directly to him. After she rang everything up she asked for the phone number for the Kids Club membership, again speaking directly to him. He handed her his gift card and she asked if he wanted the receipt in the bag. She was so sweet and polite to him the entire time. If you haven’t picked up on it already, that’s what I’m so happy about. I called today and spoke to both her and her manager so they would know what the experience meant to us. For children with Autism, social skills can be a huge obstacle which has been true for us. Way too many times he tries to socialize and people act like he isn’t there. Not true at this Barnes & Noble. And for that we thank you.

Some people still like to browse and buy paper books. These are the people that may find themselves curious about present day Barnes and Noble, then there are others that wonder why people still go to bookstores at all. I’m somewhere in the middle. I’ve been in to B&N a few times over the last year, either to check out the comic book selection or to buy a sudoku book. I’ve also come in a few times to browse cookbooks and the bargain section. The people here are quite friendly in both the café and the bookstore itself. I’ve been coming here ever since High School and spent many nights studying or meeting with groups during college. The service has been awesome every time I’ve gone in throughout the years. It makes me sad though that the bookstore is dying because I’ve really loved this store as a whole. I hope they can continue to adapt to the changing times and come out on top. The one major problem is that they can’t compete with Amazon’s prices. I hate to be THAT person, but the fact is — I’m not buying a book from B&N for $ 20 when I can get it on Amazon in a week. Prices aren’t competitive here and you’ll find yourself paying whatever the list price is. Although I talked about the friendly staff, I was also put off on my last visit when I witnessed a young girl and her mother talking to a salesperson about a Nook. They were asking about its capability to use Facetime and the salesperson said«oh yeah. you can do facetime on this.» Luckily, the young girl was hip enough to know there is no front facing camera, therefore facetime would be impossible. Then, the story changed completely. I don’t know if he was improperly trained or just saying whatever it took to make the sale, but I was very tempted to interject to correct him. I’ll still come to this store whenever the mood strikes but most of my book buying is reserved for the interweb.

I have been going to this barns and noble since I was 15, I have never had any trouble with the bookseller staff. Until this time I have not had a problem with the café staff either. I went into the café with my husband and was deciding if I wanted a warm drink or cold and my husband went ahead and ordered for me. The girl in the café decided to go out of her way to say rudely«well it’s a good thing he knows what you want». I don’t think after holding in my frustration I can go back to this locations café if that is how they are aloud to talk to there customers.

Staff is always friendly and more than willing to help you find what you’re looking for. The café is usually packed with people meeting up to study or whatever. The café sells Starbucks coffee and drinks, but doesn’t accept Starbucks gift cards.

Always liked this store. Love the smell of books and the feel of the paper. However, due to the convenience of my iPad I may never purchase a physical book again unless its unavailable electronically somewhere. I take my kids here to pick out books as a reward for good work or grades. They love it too. Is it my imagination or can I really not access Amazon while using B&N wifi?

Love that this store is here locally! Nice big area of children’s items, which my son loves, and they have pajama story times throughout the year. I constantly am in the café, plugged in, typing away on some report/paper I need to have turned in, and the selection of drinks/food there are delicious! We come and do a book night every once in a while and look at books, play trains, then get dinner(and dessert) in the café. It’s really nice to have somewhere like this so close to home. It barely has any selection of CD’s and no DVD’s, which is different than other B&N’s I’ve been to, but it’s not an issue for what I go there for.

It’s Kankakee’s first mega bookstore. It was always a nice place to kill time, pick up a magazine and they always had or could get the book I was looking for. The café was a nice place to hang out and meet a friend.
