STEER CLEAR!
This place is the worst.
I should have known when I came in on a Monday morning and there were no customers. Usually Mondays are busy days for car repair because of weekend car troubles. But this Monday I was the only customer. My engine had been running rough so I went to Autozone to have it scanned. Autozone told me they did not have the right scanner and sent me to Auto Fix as they had the right kind of scanner.
I was there for a couple of hours. I was told that the scanner only tells them «so much». So they went through it and told me I needed new spark plugs. The plugs did not have 15 000 mi on them. But I had more plugs in the vehicle and they charged $ 50.00 to change them. It made no difference. But at least I did not have to buy their plugs. Then I was told I needed to replace the catalytic convertor for $ 600.00. The cat was maybe 1.5 yrs old. So I didn’t go for that one.
So then I was told to return the following day when their «master» mechanic was in. It was sounding to me like they did not scan it for whatever reason (besides the scanner only tells them «so much»).
I returned, and after a while I was told I needed a new d cap, rotor and wires because they were all corroded. All that for $ 120.00 I asked if he would guarantee it would fix the problem, and the «master mechanic» told me he didn’t know. So I said why not just clean off the corroded contacts? He told me that was his next suggestion. I knew then he was just trying to sell me parts at a mark up which I didn’t need.
Then he told me again the scanner wouldn’t give them enough info, and tried to sell me a $ 60.00 diagnostic procedure. I asked if that included a scan. He said, no, they’d have to pull all the sensors out and check them one by one. This was going nowhere. I only came in for a scan.
I left.
The I noticed problems with my vehicle that were not there before. But at that point I knew there was no sense going back there. I went to another shop and had the damage Auto Fix repaired.
At that point my car was running worse than before I took it to them.
Then I learned online that a scanner was not necessary and all I had to do was cycle the ignition key a few times and the codes would show on my dash display.
So I found another shop that could and would scan it. In ten minutes they told me what the problem was and fixed it. It had nothing to do with what Auto Fix told me.
This place is dangerous to the point of incompetency.
Auto Fix cannot get repairs done right, and can damage your car.
