The Club Tavern and Grill

If you are going to eat breakfast in Bozeman — you have to go to stop in here. Best breakfast in town — great pancakes, pile of hash browns, and a great Huervo’s!

A very pleasant surprise! I never think a restaurant attached to a hotel is going to be very good. Usually, it’s mediocre food and service taking advantage of tourists. However, the Club Tavern is a wonderful surprise. The menus are varied, the food is delicious, and the service is great! The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. My only advice is do not come in a hurry on Sunday or Saturday mornings. This place gets busy weekend mornings and the wait for food can be long. It’s also a great place to catch a game! Décor is upscale sports bar.

Most of my prior visits would have been 4 or 5 stars, however the last time we were there was awful. We were there for 90 minutes total before our 20 month old was over it. We asked for our food boxed so we could leave and shortly after we got our food. When we got home we found that the nachos we ordered were hot and fresh, not sure if I’m more mad that I waited 90 minutes for hot fresh nachos or if I would have been more mad that they were soggy and cold. Regardless, that is completely unacceptable. When I called and finally got a hold of a manager, the excuse I was given was that there was a concert in town. So you didn’t staff appropriately to accommodate such an event? Doesn’t fly with me. Haven’t been back since.

I stopped in for breakfast (it’s within the Grantree) and was very impressed by the service. I mean, they were as attentive as what you’d get in a fine dining establishment — from seamless coffee refills to quickly getting my requested «extras» such as additional salsa, etc. The food was delicious. I got a breakfast burrito and it was deliciously seasoned with perfectly cooked, moist eggs and just the right amount of chipotle sauce. The coffee was delicious and tasted almost like a Starbucks Sumatra or Café Bustelo. I’m a fan.

So, to start this off, the food here is absolutely delicious and the price is right. The last time we were here, I reviewed this restaurant at a 5 star. We showed up on Father’s day and although there was a little bit of a wait, the wait staff was MORE than accommodating. They seated us in the lobby (we had my 2 year old son with us), brought us coffee and a newspaper and let us look through the menu after telling us the specials so we could be ready to order. That is absolutely the way to keep a business going — bring your customers through the door and make them feel welcome, even if you don’t have room. The wait staff was very apologetic about the pretty reasonable 20 minute wait. We didn’t mind.
Over this last weekend, however, it was not quite like that. We walked in. There were about 4 empty tables, 2 that still needed bussing. We were greeted by a very friendly waiter, older guy with glasses, «hi guys! I’ll be right with you!» he said. There was no one in line ahead of us and no one behind us. We expected by his attitude we would have no issues and were preparing ourselves for a fantastic breakfast. He came back a moment later and when we said we needed a table for 4 with a highchair, he said (with the same casualty) «Okay! It’ll be 45 minutes to an hour!». We were totally shocked. No apology. No remorse for a family with a child. There was no one ahead of us, in the lobby or waiting. There were empty tables (that very well could have been taken by reservation — that was never explained to us). It was very poor service and very distasteful. As a long time citizen of Bozeman, I know the standards the restaurants around here have and this didn’t meet one. The Olive Garden has a better waiting protocol than that and they are a chain restaurant. You would think for a local hot spot, they would want to keep bringing in clientele.

We ordered the huevos rancheros and a couple drinks. The chorizo was obviously seasoned beef and the flavor was bland. My friend liked hers, but I couldn’t bring myself to eat it. When the server came to pick up the plates (it was a little busy because of football, but the service was definitely sub par — super slow), I told her, «Sorry, I didn’t like it». She returned with the checks. When I asked her to take off the huevos because I had 2 bites and didn’t eat the rest, she told me she would see what she could do. I have been a server and when food comes back, I make sure that the customer is satisfied before they leave. I would have asked if they wanted something else and if not, taken it off the bill or had them speak to my manager. She didn’t seem to care. They took off $ 2. I won’t be coming back because of the service.

I have come here a few times and everytime I come here the menu changes a little. Overall, the service and experiences I have had have been good. This last time was a little slow but I don’t know if that was our waiters fault or the bar’s fault. We have only come here for lunch so that is all I can comment on. I do miss this fish tacos though– so good but no longer on the menu! :(. This time, we started with the grande nachos– and wow were they huge! Seriously though, you need like 6 people to finish them! We also got the wings. The people that ordered them told the server they don’t like spicy to get the least spicy ones and yet they got very spicy ones. We also got the reuben. It was okay– not a lot of meat but seemed fresh. This last experience wasn’t the greatest but all of our others have been good so I only wanted to dock them one star. I do hope they bring back the fish tacos and work on their speed for the drinks!

Wait staff was respectful, food was great, atmosphere was very nice, food was on time and well presented. Not much else to say.

Holy wow. Came here because it was the closest sports bar to my hotel where I could watch the Thursday night NFL game, and I ended up eating the best Chicken Fried Steak of my life by a ridiculous margin.
I mean, seriously, if you are a fan of chicken fried steak and are ever in Bozeman, MT, go here and be enlightened.
The breading on the beef is crispy and perfect, the cut itself is better than most steaks I’ve had lately, and the country gravy isn’t runny or thick and has a great bite from the pepper but not overpowering. Served with a huge pile of garlic mashed potatoes and grilled zucchini and squash.
4 stars for awful wifi

I am always skeptical of hotel restaurants. I figured their captive audience kept them from trying. So I avoid them as much as I can. But January temperatures in November (and no car-​a death sentence in this country) forced me to sidle up to the bar here. Fifteen beers on tap (unheard of for a hotel) and one of the best Rueben sandwiches I’ve had. Staff was friendly and relatively comely. I’ll definitely be back, although once the weather warms I’ll head straight to the Montana Ale Works.

called in for take out and requested a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato, with fries and ranch on the side, and a french dip with au jus. came home with the order a half hour later and we got a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, bacon and cheese, no ranch, and no au jus. called back and were told to come by the next day for some free drink coupons. uh, seriously?
requested new sandwiches since we did not get what we wanted. drove back a half hour later and returned the untouched food to them. they said they needed to take it back in order to show the cooks or something? in my experience, any good restaurant that has made a mistake on my order has comped that meal and given me a new one, but whatever, no big deal; just a missed opportunity on their part to make the situation a little better in my eyes.
got the new food… or was it. the first sandwiches and fries were hot and obviously freshly prepared. the second set was dry and barely warm. something tells me that they took back our old sandwiches, took off the cheese and bacon and re-​boxed them because one corner of my chicken breast had a little bit of bacon on it. on top of that, we got only a quarter of the fries we did the first time and they were hard and cold.
we were really excited to try this place because their menu looked pretty good and they are close to home. we probably would’ve ended up spending a bit of money here over time just because of the location. too bad they chose to be cheap about fixing our problem. we probably won’t even go back for the free drinks.

They were rude and slow. I walked out because nobody could be bothered to take my order. I got a look at the food on the way out and it looked like it was probably for the best.

This restaurants seems to be part of the Best Western Plus Gran Tree Inn hotel since it was located in the same building, just the left side of the front desk. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Best Western Plus for a couple nights and we had our meals here everyday. The breakfast was great. I really like the French Toast with Berries. My boyfriend got breakfast burrito. He said it was very good and it was so big that he had left over for his breakfast on the next day. We also had dinner and drinks here. I am not a fan of their Chef salad, but their Stuffed chicken and Flat iron steak were great. The staffs here probably are the friendliest staffs I have ever met. I means not just one, but everyone who either served or not served us. Literally, all staffs of this restaurants and staffs of the Best Western Plus hotel were very friendly. I rated the food at this restaurant for 4 stars but the friendliness of the staff and the restaurant atmosphere are definitely 5 star.

We stopped by for a quick bite while heading through town. Not a bad place to get a sandwich, soup, or salad at an affordable price. The outdoor seating is dog-​friendly, and the servers had no issue with us being seated there, even alone and on a windy day. Bathrooms, oddly, are shared with the co-​located hotel, but are clean.

Used to be really amazing. Since they changed the menu it’s turned into the usual cheap low quality food. They used to have this brioche French toast and it was to die for. Now they use thin slices of wheat bread like I do at home. Such a shame they never keep the good stuff.

I love coming here to grab a drink with friends. The foos is very good, but a little pricey. Great place to watch the game at!

We stopped here over a year ago on our way through town. We ordered take out and the food and service were great!

Favorite breakfast in town! Get a ton of great food for a great price! Perfect to take kids for breakfast! Serves City Brew coffee! Can’t go wrong! Lunch and dinner are great but their breakfasts are the best!
