Race-ready bicycle service preformed right the first time is our guarantee. (If not, we’ll do our best to make it right and treat you to a brew from our tap!)
Located in the heart of Bozeman’s culture-rich NE side, Mason and Steve of Alter Cycles have almost 50 years of elite bicycle racing and pro mechanic experience. Your ride might not be a race bike, but we’ll treat it like it is, right down to the latest technologies — not only can we fix it, we can tune it to your riding style. Void of the pressures of the traditional retail bike shop, we’re able to focus on what matters — you, your needs, and your wants.
In addition to fast-turnaround professional service and custom builds for your road, touring, XC, DH, DJ, BMX, or grocery-getter; Alter Cycles also specializes in parts and accessories for them, and private pro coaching. That’s right, we can even tune you to preform better!
Stop in and have a coffee or brew from our tap on us and see what makes Alter Cycles unique!
History
Established in 2012.
Yeah… we are new, but its not our first rodeo.
Meet the Business Owner
Mason and Steve O.
Business Owner
Mason’s earliest memories are of taking things apart and mostly putting them back together. She’s a wizard with bicycles having grown up working on them in the family’s shop. With over 20 years as professional mechanic under her belt she has developed a strong following. She’s hard to keep up with on the trail as well. «The trails aren’t going to shred themselves» she likes to say.
Stevo grew up finding the top speed of everything, eventually becoming a pro-ranked racer and dirt jumper. His father being a master auto mechanic, taught him the importance of «packing one’s own parachute» because at speed, a mechanical… is not good. Working as a bike mechanic from a teen on through art school wrenching for a factory team — Steve followed his passion as a designer and brand strategist for a decade and founded our local MTB club in 2010. Soon enough the draw of wrenching on race rigs was too great, and here he is. In the off-season, he designs and builds designer furniture.
