Service One Credit Union

History

Established in 1963.

Service One was founded in 1963 by Western Kentucky University (WKU) faculty and staff, but now serve a greater field of membership — anyone who lives, works, or worships in the Barren River Area Development District.

A lot has changed since Service One’s start out of a shoebox in the closet at the university, with the credit union now having a total of 4 branches and over $ 126 million in assets (July 2014).

Service One has added the ability over the years to processes mortgages, personal loans, and credit cards, along with offering checking accounts, and several savings account options. Innovative services have been added, and include mobile apps with a check deposit feature and an award winning free money management system (with app companion).
