This is the best restaurant in Bowling Green. Most of the eateries there are fast food, so it’s good to have a place that has a respectable buffet and table service. The portions are well-priced and you can get a good deal here on most of the meals. The food itself is traditional restaurant food; nothing cutting edge, but it’s what you would expect from a small town restaurant. Bowling Green has a great small town atmosphere, and this place brings it out really well.

It’s now j and j roadhouse and my husband and I stopped here to eat breakfast. The place was nice and staff was friendly but the breakfast buffet was horrible. Pretty positive it was the worst breakfast I have ever had and my husband said the same. We won’t be going back!

The restaurant is back open… new name is J&J’s Roadhouse 54; they have spruced the place up a bit, but it pretty much retains the character and food of Crystal’s, but with new owners who are more dedicated to the place being the best restaurant it can be, after owners the last few years weren’t doing that great with it. I understand why they decided to choose a new name for the place, to distance themselves from people who were running the place who kinda ran it into the ground before the original owners took it back, and the son of one of the owners, who had been involved in management and ownership of Crystal’s in the past has bought the place and seems to have restored it to its former status in the community. Had a great lunch there today, that even improved on what they were doing in the past, and they still have the best fried chicken around. If you are passing through Bowling Green, go on through town and get a nice meal with super friendly service from the owners who know how to run the place right. They had a nice lunch crowd today, and in a town the size of BG, word of mouth kills you real fast if its not good…

Good made from scratch cooking. Lunch buffet with an excellent fresh salad bar. The fried chicken was awesome. Very friendly staff. It was a little hard to find this place but well worth the search. We were just passing through. This was a nice change from roadside fast food.

We stopped here on our way up to Iowa. We had a Rubin sandwich and a wrap that were both delicious. The staff and owner both talked to us and were very attentive and nice. I highly recommend this home style restaurant when traveling off of Hwy 61.
