Tough Luck Cowboy

Fun store, friendly owner. A friend of mine and I stopped in, because she needed a belt for her pants. The owner helped her pick one out. and then shared this great story about how Graham Nash (or was it Stills??) stopped in one day to buy a shirt from her. Even if you’re not into cowboy gear, it’s a fun stop.

Everything people say about this place is true. Its a great little shop with entry of wonderful things inside. The owner couldn’t be more sweet or helpful. Even if cowboy paraphernalia isn’t your thing the shop deserves your time.

When I’m traveling to a new town I’ve never been to before, especially in another state, I look around on Unilocal for some businesses that look interesting and bookmark them for the trip. Does anyone else do that? One of the things I wanted to look for in Boulder were cowboy boots. This was the only store that popped up. Bookmarked. A week later, in the fantastic town of Boulder, I passed the store and walked in with giddy excitement.
The front of the store seems to have a bunch of cowboy/​Western themed home décor and furniture, but the back — oh, the back of the store! Big studded belts! Clothes with fringe and embroidery! Accessories! And the boots! YES. Even deeper in the back is a section of baby/children’s clothing/​toys, which I didn’t really pay attention to.
I had my eye on a pair of red Corral boots that were only $ 200 (which is quite a steal, considering the usual cost of such boots). I told the saleswoman that I was looking for a pair of boots but wasn’t sure what size I was or what color/​style I wanted. She patiently helped me try on several different pairs of boots — including the red Corrals — to find the right fit. Some were too big, some seemed to tight, others just didn’t seem right. I ended up not purchasing anything because I wasn’t in love with a particular pair, but I am so grateful for the woman’s time and patience. She was wonderful. (I think the friend I was with might come back soon to buy the boots she was looking at!)

My young man and I were on vacation in Boulder from Omaha, having only moved to the Plains from NYC nine months ago. I found this placed for my man, because I knew he was on the lookout for the perfect pair of Lucchese boots. I was politely concealing my boredom (because I don’t give a hoot about Western wear, horses, or the like). I was mainly focused on keeping my dog from eating the braided horsehair ropes.
However, the owner sized me up, looked at my no-​nonsense Munro shoes and said «I think I have the perfect thing for you, and you are in luck, because I am not going to be ordering these again – the sizing is strange and they are too plain for most of my customers.»
Before I knew it, I was walking out in the first pair of cowboy boots I have ever considered buying. Lucchese, made in America by hand (not in Mexico) and because they were on clearance, the deal of a lifetime!
What’s more, Sherrie called to Lucchese to process my warranty AND searched around for my man’s boots (finding them in short order). They were waiting for us when we returned from Colorado, direct from her store.
Did she make two awesome sales that day? Yes! Was she more helpful than many other shopkeeps we encountered? Definitely! Does she carry the top brands? Yes! It’s a cowgirl store and she made one out of me, and still served the cowboy on my arm! Can’t wait to see her again when we return to Colorado.
Later that evening, I had the Lucchese box sitting next to me at a sidewalk café and a man approached me out of the clear blue «where did you get Lucchese around here?» We pointed it right out. Spread the word!

Lovely store with such an array of diverse cowboy items, I bought the cutest baby clothes with horses and matching John Deer boots, vintage cowboy cards with removable magnets, jewelry for myself, softest stuffed animals ever, this place has a great buyer!

I came in here hoping to appease my mother and mother in law with cowboy/​western themed gift bribery. It was a delightful upscale gift shop in/​near the Pearl Street Mall.
There were boots. There were elaborate embroidered and fringed shirts. There was silver and turquoise jewelry. There were books and CDs and adorable Christmas tree ornaments at what I considered to be a very reasonable price for the quality. There were goodies for children, and artwork, and belt buckles.
My mother in law had requested a longhorn cow ornament as a Christmas gift, and the owner/​manager immediately jumped into the stockroom when I asked if she carried any. She knew she had carried them in the past and didn’t rest until she had determined there was none back there. She was also very helpful when I mentioned I was new to the area and was asked for some advice. Very friendly and personable!
Meanwhile I wandered around the shop and found an adorable stuffed longhorn cow, about 8−10″ long. Soft, fuzzy, HUGE horns, irresistible, and the price made me want to buy two. The horns made for an awkward packaging, so I wandered about Pearl Street the rest of the day with a cow’s head sticking up out of my shopping bag to prevent the horns from bending. Took it through airport security that way too.
My mother in law loved it. Definitely a win for gift shopping for my family!

Adorable store with a sweet local owner. I have always had a great time in this store. My hubby knows it is a no brainer to go there for gifts for me. The owner is super flexible and fair with exchanges if the size or color is not right. She is also helpful at putting outfits together and chatting with you along the way. I love this store. A must visit for Boulder visitors that like cowboys!!!

I love this place! Beautiful boots, apparel, and ephemera. The owner is a lovely woman and a rockin cowgirl.
