Switchback Photography is founded on the belief that professional adventure photography doesn’t just have to be for professional outdoor sports athletes. With our unique, distinctive style and personalized services, we exist to bring high-​end photography to today’s adventurer; no professional sponsorship required. By intimately working with our clients, we provide authentic photographic documentation of your epic adventure, whether that means a half-​day mountain bike trip in the Colorado mountains, a day of fly-​fishing the Roaring Fork in Aspen, or a week of adventure travel in New Zealand.

History

Established in 2015.

Switchback is owned and operated by Steve Mokan, a professional photographer based just outside of Boulder, Colorado. Steve has provided high-​quality adventure photography for companies like Deuter USA, ON3P Skis, Freeride Systems, and Monarch and Loveland ski areas and is now dedicated to bringing that level of expertise to his client base. Additionally, Steve works with a network of Colorado-​based professional photographers that compliment his services, to provide Switchback clients the best resources available.

Business Owner

I’ve been doing photography for almost 10 years, but just recently I decided to leave my corporate job and pursue a dream of mine to make my passion a career. In the past, I’ve worked in portrait, wedding, and action sports photography; with my new venture (Switchback Photography) I am focusing on outdoor sports and lifestyle photography. I believe high-​end, professional photography shouldn’t be limited to just professional athletes.

Over the last 15 years in the corporate world, I worked in the CPG and tech startup industry in both Operations and Product Marketing, and I have my MBA from the University of Colorado.
