Soma Physical Therapy

Very Disappointing.
I made an apt at Soma with Michelle weeks prior to the actual day i was suppose to go in. On the scheduled day i received a call from Blair the receptionist saying that Michelle had a family emergency — no problem at all, these things happen… She then rescheduled me for an hour or two earlier than my original apt, So i thanked her as my foot tendons had been very bad of late, organized a last minute babysitter (NOT an easy things to do as all mums know) and rushed into the practice.
Upon arriving, I was met with blank faces and no recollection of my appointment. while one of the receptionist was lovely and accommodating, the other one — who eventually admitted she was Blair, sat in silence as i questioned why i wasn’t scheduled seeing as i only just spoke to this so called Blair person herself hours prior. Not only did Blair sit there while the other receptionist had to scramble away for an answer, she was nothing but rude and immature when she finally admitted that she was in fact the one who booked my apt earlier ONLY because i pulled up a voicemail proving that it was ‘Blair’ who had spoken to me earlier as neither could ‘recall’the conversation. Not only did she have no explanation as to why it wasn’t on the books, or even an apology of any description when i asked her why i wasn’t called earlier and informed that my apt was cancelled for the 2^nd time that day, she treated me with such disrespect and rudeness that i had no choice but to walk out furious.
God forbid a business owner has a receptionist like Blair. Blair was beyond rude and obnoxious. NEVER go to this practice if you A) want to be treated as a human being, B) want to actually be seen by the trained professional you booked, not just berated by an uneducated receptionist, and C) expect some sort of apology for the time/​money/​gas wasted.
DISGRACEFUL.
I have given this practice weeks to call with an apology or compensation and received neither which is why i have written this review, my first bad review ever, today. It is such a shame that a practice has lost what would have been a repeat customer over a silly girl and her extreme rudeness.

After having ongoing shoulder pain my doctor referred me to a physical therapist and Soma is one of the ones she recommended. The receptionists are incredibly friendly and always call me by name when I walk in. I have been seen by Michelle and I really like her. The physical therapy massages and the exercise physiologists have all been great and people are always checking up on me to see how I am feeling. I believe there are a few Saturday appointments but for the most part the appointments end by 4:30. Depending on the schedule of the exercise physiologist and the massage therapist it maybe can be later, but keep that it mind if you’re a working professional. I do like that the appointments always start and end on time.
Like the previous review mentioned, during the first exercise session the exercise physiologist started talking to me about registering for their online program for $ 15/​month. I’m not really sure why there needs to be a charge. It was helpful to have the videos to jog my memory about some of the exercises, but for me printed out worksheets with pictures and descriptions of the moves would have been just fine. I wanted to get better quickly so I paid for it, but I absolutely felt a pressure to register and pay the extra money. I was also not offered a different alternative. If I didn’t register for the website then I would have gone into sessions and needed to remember everything by memory which I think is a little unfair.
Aside from the online portal and pressure to register, I liked Soma. Everyone there is really nice and seems like they make an effort to help you get rid of your pain as quickly as possible.

I’m not certain why this business has so many different listings on Unilocal,but I’m going to add my review here, as well.
The short of it: if you use this physical therapy provider, you will not be given a hard copy of the prescription when you leave. Instead, you will be told to log on to a special site. When you go to log on, you will discover that you have to pay a monthly fee in order to receive the information you should have been able to take home with you.
It’s not clear whether this violates the Colorado industry regulation, or not, but it is certainly not standard practice among physical therapists. My guess is that the business owner is developing an app, testing it on the poor souls who end up being referred to his practice, and then attempting to market the app to others in his industry.
Aside from this major issue, I have some additional reflections on my experience with SOMA. The building’s location is behind another building that fronts on Pearl Street. It wasn’t clear to me where to park and the building itself did not strike me as terribly well appointed or maintained.
I would have preferred that the therapist be on time for my appointment. It could be that we simply failed to hit it off as the appointment unfolded. This mattered because I’ve never been to a physical therapist before and, as I explained to her, I felt nervous.
It was disconcerting that the therapist refused to provide a written prescription of the exercises she recommended. I was told to access the information online at a service they’ve created. It surprised me, honestly, to leave without documentation of what we discussed.
Not being provided with information from the appointment without an extra charge is completely unacceptable to me. When I paid for the appointment, I reasonably expected to leave with a record of the visit, particularly because the record had information about how I should follow up. I cannot think of any good reason I should have to pay extra for information about the prescribed exercises. Indeed, especially because I was not told in advance that I would have to pay to access the information, this strikes me as unprofessional.
Boulder has a number of options for physical therapy. It turns out that there are a couple of others recommended by my physician. Although I will be going «out of network» on our health insurance in order to pay for this, that seems preferable to returning to this provider.
