History

Established in 1987.

Dr. Sarasvati Buhrman was a graduate student in Genetics at the University of California when she met her spiritual teacher, Yoga master Baba Hari Dass.

Trained in traditional Hatha Yoga, which is based on Ayurveda and the subtle body teachings of classical sattvic Tantra, Babaji taught his students Ayurvedic principles as well as the texts and methods of all six classical Yogas: Jnana, classical Tantra, Ashtanga, Karma, Hatha, and Bhakti.

He also brought to the U.S. eminent Benares Hindu University Professor of Ayurvedic Medicine, Dr. R.P. Trivedi, and Sarasvati had the privilege of studying with him. After her training, Dr. Trivedi asked her to teach and practice Ayurvedic medicine. When Sarasvati had to drop out of her grad program due to chronic fatigue syndrome, she was able to cure it using Ayurvedic medicine and the methods of Hatha Yoga therapy.

Sarasvati opened her clinical practice in Boulder, Co.

in 1987, and co-founded the Rocky Mtn Inst of Yoga & Ayurveda in 1990.
