For the last two-​years, my wife and I have been looking for our forever home. She gave birth to my son back in July of 2015 and since then we knew we wanted him to grow up in an area where there were still some opportunities to be around other kids but also have some land as well to run and play.
We found a home in Longmont and made and offer. It is from this point that we knew Remax of Boulder was quite possibly the worst agent that we’ve ever worked with.
My agent, the buyer’s agent, was from down south and I had been working with them for 2+ years. These folks were great. They were honest, up front, and willing to do anything to help. This would be the second time that I’ve gone through the process of buying a home. Based on my previous experience, I can say without a doubt that Remax of Boulder was absolutely awful to work with. They represented the seller and from the get go, you could tell that they really had no idea what they were doing.
First, let’s talk about contractual obligations. A seller’s agent takes responsibly on their shoulders to ensure that the seller complies with the contractual obligations set forth in the contract so that for future clients, they know that they can be trusted and will represent them fairly and honestly. Additionally, such responsibility applies to a buyer’s agent as well since they will know that a seller agent is either trustworthy or not. If they are not, then they simply advise their clients to steer clear of them and their clients. This is where we are today.
In all contracts, there is usually a clause that states the home will be professionally cleaned prior to closing. Well, not only was our home not professionally cleaned, but at walk-​through we found a filthy refrigerator full of pieces of food, crumbs, spilled condiments, and more. We also found rotting jelly under the garbage can as well as the cans themselves being full of trash without trash bags. Wait, there’s more. In two of the rooms without carpet, you could tell that they didn’t clean anything because there was still cat pee, cat feces, litter, and cat food on the floors and under the appliances. It was quite disgusting. And this was only inside.
Outside, there were screws and nails in the driveway, random garbage strewn about the lawn (drumsticks, gardening gloves, wood paneling, and more) as well as most of the sidewalk lighting had been destroyed. In the back yard, there was a large bucket of trash that they apparently didn’t feel like hauling to the curb. So effectively, the agent thought it was ok for their clients to not only break the contract, but to blatantly trash the home prior to move out. That’s the kind of agents these people are.
The other piece of the contract, the inspection resolution, called out fixing lights, smoke detectors, loose faucets, and more. Did the agent make sure that these were done prior to closing? Nope. The smoke detectors were not replaced. The lights were not replaced. The faucet was not fixed. The doors were not cleaned. The fence was not fixed. The electrical outlets were not fixed. It feels as though both the sellers agent and the sellers just didn’t care about anything and wanted to leave us with as much work as they could because of their laziness.
So let’s bring this into reality: after 45 days of waiting and preparing to move, do you think we would stop closing at this point? No. But this really meant two things: the sellers had no character or measurable integrity to live up to their end of the contract and the agent, like the sellers, had no character or integrity to ensure that their clients fulfilled their end of the agreement. In today’s day and age, this is becoming more and more typical: indecent people not caring about anything other than themselves and taking advantage of situations for their benefit.
So this is a warning to anyone considering either using these people as an agent or purchasing a home from one of their clients: they cannot be trusted nor can their clients. Look at the other Unilocal reviews and you’ll see that this isn’t and isolated case. They are just simply bad people that don’t deserve to make money off of others while doing business is such a malicious and unjustified manner. They need to be held accountable for their actions and the only way to do so is to run them out of business.

My family bought a home through Brad Clarkson who was selling us a new home built by Journey Homes. Everything was going well until Brad insisted I sign the walk through paperwork before the things that needed to fixed were done. He kept calling us and insisting to sign off on the paperwork. We signed off on the paperwork with the promise from him that everything would be fixed. Boy were we wrong! They came in and fixed a few things but left mostly everything that needed to be fixed undone. Brad claimed he knew the owner and everything would be taken care of. We have called Brad plenty of times and he rarely returns our phone calls. I’ve called Journey homes and nothing. Beware when dealing with Brad!

I emailed one of the agents here about a property this agency had listed for sale. No response. I called and left a message. No response. I called and spoke to a secretary and explained my frustration. She guaranteed the agent will call me back, as best as she could, and was very polite but, surprise! No call back. This all occurs over the course of two weeks.
This does not reflect well on the quality of this agency. Even if the home is under contract, or similar, it is just downright rude not to return phone calls and emails. Next time I see this agency as the listing brokerage, I’ll just ask another broker to show it to me, even though I don’t commonly use buyer’s agents.
Lame.

Horrible and unethical group of realtors, namely Linda Nehls and Andrew Muller, who still got away with absolutely atrocious behaviors of negligence, trying to bully both the seller and buyer. We were the sellers of our house, and we went through Trelora, a flat rate fee model that questions the arbitrary and ridiculous set commissions of 6% from the seller to both the seller’s agent (3%) and buyer’s agent (3%) for doing pretty much nothing in this day and age where the buyer is finding their own homes online. So we set the buyer’s agent commission to $ 3000 or variable commission (meaning negotiable), and our agent’s commission to $ 1700. Well, our buyer was very interested in the house, but the buyer’s agent saw it as a cut in her commission from 3% of $ 450K to $ 3000. So she did everything she could to discourage us the sellers from selling the house to her buyer, so that her buyer could buy a different house with a higher commission for the agent, including lowballing the price by a ridiculous amount, making crazy counterproposals, and worst of all, lying about the buyer’s response to our rejection to the ridiculous counterproposals, and telling us the buyer needs us sellers to accept the counterproposals as is, when in fact the buyer was never told of our response and was going to sign the contract even if we had rejected her counterproposal! Moreover, Linda the buyer’s agent lied about not presenting our response when confronted by our agent, stating she had presented it. At this point, the buyer did not trust her agent but had signed a binding exclusive rights to buy contract of some sort, so could not come out from Remax, and instead was reassigned to a different, even worse agent Andrew Muller, who let the contract become invalid by missing the Objection Resolution deadline while telling the buyer that everything was fine and wrongly informing her that the deadline was extended. This was the 2^nd time that the contract was no longer valid! We walked away from the ridiculous deal at this point, as we were getting plenty of other buyers’ interests. But the buyer called us directly and informed us that she had never been presented with the papers from us she had been waiting for and that we had sent over before the deadline, that she was told the deadline had been extended when it wasn’t, and that she really wanted the house. It was evident that the buyer was motivated to buy the house, it was her agents who kept sabotaging the contract, so from there we (the sellers) communicated directly with the buyer, and everything went fine. Our opinion regarding Trelora is another story, but at the end of the day, Andrew did not deserve $ 3000 for his shoddy negligence and should actually be paying a fine for his unprofessional unethical behavior; how exactly do you sleep at night? No other industry allows such behavior, only in the realty industry, which we already think very low of. Remax of Boulder just drilled the point home. Next time we are selling directly to the buyer by owner, and cutting out the crap in the middle. Absolutely unacceptable and Linda and Andrew should pay for their abhorrent behavior.

Another person jumping on the Sue Masterson cheerleading squad. She’s great. Was realistic with us, worked within our budget, never felt pressured. Found a great property, and she told us where we might have a problem with the appraisal – but then went above and beyond to do her best to alleviate that problem. Despite the previous good reviews, I actually interviewed her & one other realtor – so glad I chose Sue. As stress-​free as buying a home gets.

Sue Masterson is the best real estate agent in Boulder Colorado. She will go out of her way to help you find the right property. Although we didn’t end up moving to Boulder due to other reasons she showed us at least two properties that I would have purchased had we moved. Sue is very friendly, smart as a whip, responsible and an ethical, wonderful person. I wish we had an agent like her in the Bay Area!
