Business Owner

Tom Robichaud started Precision Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric over 3 decades ago in 1982. Today, he is proud to run over 15,000 service calls a year and donate $ 1,000 every month to local charities and non-​profit organizations. In 2013, Precision began donating brand new, high-​efficiency furnaces to families in need as well.

Precision is dedicated to providing the highest levels of customer service available. To achieve this goal, Tom requires all employees to be background checked and drug screened and provides the highest levels of training and education available. Today, Precision has been voted the best service company 11 years in a row and continues to provide the highest level of customer service and give back to the local community.

Jacob and the Precision team were the best of the best. They were extremely knowledgeable, professional and did everything they could to make sure the job got done on time and our yard was put back in perfect condition. They even made sure not to jeopardize our beautiful Aspen trees. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Not too long ago, in our brand new Richmond home, they tried to sell us a 2.5 ton A/​C unit for $ 9,500. Kicked the salesman, who accordingly doesn’t work there anymore, right out the front door. Not an honest or ethical practice to say the least. We ended up hiring a local, veteran-​owned business to install a 3 ton for $ 2,500.

Had a leaking hot water furnace, they came quickly and gave me a high replacement and install quote. I negotiated down about $ 500 and booked the work for the next day. A different tech shows up and my wife met him to do the work. She did not know I had negotiated the rate down and he overcharged her by $ 200. I contacted the original tech and he apologized and said to cancel the check and send a new one for the correct amount. A few weeks goes by and I get my original check back that was over, and then a new bill for the SAME amount ($ 200 over what we agreed to). Not to mention, what I was paying for at this point was to service the furnace. The tech said I needed a new one @5k-7k. I got a second opinion who said I needed the motor taken apart and cleaned, which he came back and did on another trip. So I am still trying to get a bill from Precision for the correct amount for the work they DID NOT do, but for them to try and sell me a new furnace that I don’t need.

These guys are not the cheapest, but they’re damn reliable and have great customer service. The folks at the call center are friendly, and get a hold of the technicians swiftly. They call back promptly, and arrive on time once scheduled. The technicians answer questions skillfully. They’re good at taking care of repeat clients — the recent trouble for me was that my circuit breakers were being finicky, and they came out swiftly to take care of it. For the simple fix, they waived a fee on it too.
I don’t know how they are on plumbing, but the electrical has been quite fine so far. The fees aren’t ideal, but you do at least get good service and the electrical work is solid.

I was impressed with Eric S knowledge. He allowed me tag along and shadow him. Answered every question I had. Fixed my problem (older furnace incompatible with smart thermostat) and got heat back in my house!
Was a little nervous when we started talking about $ 15K furnace replacement and $ 1300 parts replacement. But it wasn’t a hard sell.
I’m trying out the $ 238/​year SPP (service partner plan) and that was all the visit ended up costing me. I’ll report back in a year on the value of that. But for a first time call out — $ 238 wasn’t bad with an annual service included in the spring.

Ron T. and his team did a great job on a difficult install. Went out of their way to give me (cheaper /​reliable options) and to get the job done in a timely manner as it is getting cooler. They left the job site in a clean and neat state and took care to make sure everything was not damaged during the install which I appreciated as the old units were 30 years old and required cutting off and sealing old pipes that were no longer necessary. I appreciate the care they took and the quality of their work in leaving everything in a tested and clean state when they were done. — Doug Gerull

Terrific service at an extreme price! Very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful HVAC technician repaired my non-​working furnace. However, the price was $ 491 ($ 59 service charge + $ 432 for part/​service) to replace a part (ignitor) that videos on the internet say costs ~$ 40 MAX. It took him no longer than 30 minutes from start to finish. I’m feeling a little raw! Too bad the temperature was dropping to 30 °F that night; had me over a barrel!

I have no complaints about Precision, except for their prices. I had a very nice plumber come out to my home to give an estimate for a new sewer line from my house to the back alley. He ended up scoping the line at a cost of $ 225.00. I thought this price would include a video of the line documenting the linear feet and where the issues were at, since this is the type of service I’ve received from other companies in the past. The scope did not include a video. His estimate to replace my sewer line almost made me faint… $ 22,000!!! I received another quote that same day from another company, which was only at $ 9,800. If Precision’s prices could come down to anywhere in the ballpark of being reasonable, I probably would’ve hired them for the job.

I called Precision Plumbing to fix a leaking kitchen sink. This should be a 1-​hour service call by any stretch of the imagination.
The plumber claimed that only a total replacement of the sink was called for. Fine, I’ll pony up a couple hundred bucks for a faucet, perfectly fine by me.
However the plumber then quoted me nearly $ 1,000 to replace it with a «nice Kohler sink» with a pullout faucet. For the «cheap» model they would still charge me $ 800.
Look up Kohler Forte faucet on
, it retails for $ 195, and you can be sure than Precision Plumbing is paying wholesale, which is 10−15% below that.
Highway robbery if you ask me. If anyone has been «serviced» by these plumbers, they should double-​check their bills and open a claim with the better business bureau.
One other reviewer said «terrible service and really high rates» and I’d have to agree that my experience matches that.

If you want to pay 3x what a hot water heater should be, hire them. Seriously — $ 5700 for a hot water heater? And no, they won’t itemize the bill since they do a flat rate only. And their reasoning? Their trucks, marketing materials, business, etc is expensive.
They might be great, have trained professionals, offer great service, but I have no idea how people can afford them.

We always appreciate the professional and excellent service and quality of work from Precision, and our recent experience with Ronnie Thornton was up there with the very best. He replaced our water heater and suggested ways we could improve other household jobs in the simplest manner. It was a pleasure to have him in our home, and the quality of his work makes me feel like I can trust my water heater for years to come.

If you are comparing only price, then you might choose another company, but I believe you get what you pay for. After comparing quotes, we decided to use Precision even though they weren’t the cheapest.
Precision installed a full house humidifier system and replaced an aging hot water heater tank for us. They were professional at every turn, from initial communication to the moment I closed the door behind them. Every person involved was polite, timely, respectable, and above all, knowledgeable and thorough. In a world where courteousness and professionalism are often woefully lacking, Precision shines. I definitely would use them again.

A little higher price than some of the other quotes, but were willing to work with me on a full HVAC replacement of furnace, A/​C, Humidifier, high end filter system to a point where they were only a few hundred dollars more than Brothers Plumbing, and I was much more comfortable with the presentation and
The installation went quickly with a minimum of noise and no mess at all when they were done. I can’t imagine what it was like installing the outside AC blower in 20 degree weather, but I didn’t hear any complaints or issues. All the work «just got done» and got done quickly.
Combined with the warranty on the units I bought, and the service plan I have, I’m very happy, and will continue to be happy for at least the next 10 years.
Yes, I’d recommend them.

My friend is worried about posting a negative review; so I will do it.
During the cold snap this fall their house would only get barely above freezing. Precision who has been servicing their heat and A.C. told them that they needed to replace the heater and it would cost over $ 18,000.
Another contractor determine the heater was fine but needed adjusting and cost less than a thousand.

I was very disappointed when after the tech looked at my furnance that he immediately tried to sell me a new one. It had been worked on before by a guy that retired, so I had to go looking for another person in which now the retired guy had told me the furnace would last for years to come. These guys show up and try to tell me how unsafe it was then wanted to either charge me $ 1500 to fix it or almost 5k for a new one. However, it is now fixed for $ 100, so beware as they seem more interested in selling you a new unit instead of just fixing the old one.

These people are ridiculous. I am a property manager and had been using precision for over the past year. I have spent a few thousand dollars with them and would think I would be considered a pretty good customer. Today we have a serious issue with every sink and toilet backing up. I called and tried to ask for someone to come out, they said since I am not the homeowner they cannot help me. They said this is and always has been the policy.
They have my name and credit card listed on every invoice — they have never once asked me if I was the homeowner, and they know for a fact that there are tenants in the house because every time I have always called them I tell them that the tenants will be home, and I meet them there if necessary.
I called AAA on Marshall St and they gave me no hassle at all and they are going to perform the exact same main line cleanout for $ 99 that Precision charges $ 450 for! I wish I done a better job price shopping.
And dont even get me started on how long I have had to wait for these techs when they say they are «minutes away». Dont waste your time on a company that wont value your business anyway.

In the middle of a 97deg+ heat wave, my furnace motor died at 2am. I called Precision’s main number at 3am. A real person, not a recording — picked up, listened to my predicament, and then dispatched a technician immediately.
The tech arrived around 4:30am, replaced the furnace ½HP 115V MULTI SPD DD MOTOR (had the part on the truck!) and was finished and gone before 6:30 am.
The technician (Kevin) was a pro and knew his stuff.
I have never heard of such good service before. An immediate 3am dispatch with the problem solved in a little less than 2 hours? Incredible.
There was a $ 100 service charge for the immediate 3am dispatch, but I would pay that in a second to get emergency service like that in the middle of a heat wave.
Great professional service, and you get what you pay for.
I would recommend these guys to anyone.
