McDonald Carpet One Floor & Home

I would go with bare plywood before I’d use Carpet One again. Replaced our flooded basement carpet in 2014 (finally getting around to writing the review after ripping my heel on YET ANOTHER carpet tack on our stairs.) Our experience with the sales person (female — don’t remember her name) was good. She was helpful and responded promptly when we experienced multiple issues with the installation. Unfortunately, she was the ONLY good thing about the experience. The installation is the worst I’ve ever seen. We had massive numbers of carpet tacks sticking out — you could even see them — and the job they did on the stairs was horrific. (I do realize that sometimes the tacks will stick out a bit in places — this was WAY more than «a bit:».) The stairs were not wrapped in padding; instead they stapled small pieces of padding to the top of each stair and then installed the carpet. When we complained, they did come out and do them «correctly» (at least as far as wrapping the stairs completely) but I have stepped on tacks and torn my heel open over 15 times. I paid for upgraded padding but I’m not sure what they really installed as it certainly doesn’t feel like it. I’m glad to see that others had a better experience — but we definitively won’t use them again.

Great selection. Great leadership. Great staff. Great product. I would use no one else.

We have used Carpet One over the years, always with good service and results. George was our salesman. He has always been helpful and friendly, even stopping over to see how the job was coming along. The installers were excellent and efficient, too. They easily accommodated several changes we made to our flooring plan during the remodel process.

We had a very positive experience with Carpet One. They were professional and friendly. From picking out what we wanted to having the carpet installed, we felt like we were well taken care of! I would definitely recommend them and I would use them again in the future!

Replaced carpet in upstairs and basement. George at Carpet One was extremely helpful in helping me choose the right carpet to withstand dog and cat traffic with 25 year stain warranty. New carpet is beautiful and so thick and comfortable. Installation was a breeze and done right on schedule. Carpet One is an excellent choice for carpet or hardwood with their huge selection. Have been a loyal customer for over ten years and would highly recommend McDonald Carpet One in Boulder.

We shopped around before coming to McDonald Carpet One. We found the best deal at Carpet One and also the best quality. Our carpet is 15 years warrantied and we couldn’t be happier with the color! They have a large selection. We chose a day for installation and then we ended up not being able to do that day, so we called and rescheduled and it wasn’t a problem for them at all. The process was easy!

McDonald is a family owned business, Bob McDonald owns it and his daughter in-​law does the books & scheduling and his son Scott manages the onsite work.
We typically like to support local family run businesses. However, if I can save even one person from the horrible experience we had with this company then writing this review is worthwhile.
We have several investment properties in Boulder County. Normally we use the Carpet Barn (Atlas), but were on a tight schedule and when we called McDonald we were told they could get it done in two weeks. It actually took closer to six weeks! FML
Let me start by saying initially we dealt with a sales person named Tamara that we liked. Unfortunately Tamara was in a car accident and that is where our experience went south.
Scott mismeasured the rooms where our carpeting was to be installed. To add injury to insult, Bob, his father tried to blame Tamara. Then Bob tried to blame the installers, who by the way were great, Thanks Ernesto, I hope the McDonalds treat you better than they’ve treated my family.
Bob McDonald was unprofessional in blaming his staff and made this project way more difficult than it needed to be.

This was our second and a much larger carpet purchase from McDonald Carpet One and April. It was a very complex job as it included the carpeting of a home theater platform right in the center of a large room. April worked with us to maximize efficiency to keep our costs down while ensuring quality. She came on installation day to check on the job and gave me an extra sense of security that the end result would be perfect… and it was. I highly recommend McDonald Carpet One and April.

When looking for new flooring for our home we checked around and under the referral of a great friend, we came to Carpet One in Boulder. Tamera was our sales associate who helped us select the flooring for our first level at our home. We have a giant breed dog who was welcomed into the showroom and we couldn’t have been happier with our experience. We purchased not only awesome beautiful carpet but vinyl flooring that both have an amazing warranty. We cannot imagine using anyone else. We will be venturing out to finish the rest of our home and Carpet One in Boulder will be our one stop. Thank You!

I had my carpet installed last year by McDonald Carpet One. Since I had not previously had an entire house carpeted, I did a lot of research on carpet material, carpet styles, pile, density, warranties, pads, installation cost, financing… the works. When I walked into Carpet One I had already been to Carpet Exchange, and Empire, and I was not feeling very optimistic about having a good purchasing experience.
April was my sales representative. She was very knowledgeable, courteous and accommodating. She visited my house twice. She helped me find a carpet that was the look I wanted, was within my price range, and would last for many years. I asked a lot of questions. She always was able to answer them to my satisfaction.
I had carpet, and also a tile entryway done by McDonald’s Carpet One. All of the installers were qualified and professional, showed up when they said they would and cleaned up everything when they left.
The job was done to my complete satisfaction. I would recommend this company to anyone. The real star, is April. The woman knows her business, and she knows how to give great customer service. Thanks April!

I have not written a bad review for any business in my life but am compelled to warn people about the deceptive practices that these folks use to make the sale and then not follow through on their promises. We are victims of the recent flood and have been very shaken up by the whole thing so we were hoping for an easy experience replacing some flooring. George Amanderaz was our sales person and he seemed friendly enough at first. I should have known better when he wouldn’t commit to a date (or even a date range) for tear out and installation however my mom and I were both so shell shocked by what had recently happened that we put our trust in this company to do the right thing. George made the sale and then promptly stopped returning calls. When we were able to reach him he «didn’t have his appointment book handy» and would promise to call back which he did not. We finally managed to get George to come up and measure the project and granted, the drive up Fourmile Canyon isn’t the easiest to make, however my mom’s little Toyota Scion is doing just fine. They were ready to do the tear out of the flooring but still would NOT give us a date to install the new flooring and when we insisted that we needed to know so that we wouldn’t be walking around on bare wood for weeks, George advised us that they had decided to «pass on the project.» This is after I provided half of the cost up front and had been told for 2 weeks that things were «on track.» Needless to say we were devastated and when I spoke to the manager Kelly it was apparent that George had lied to her about several things including the ease of access to our home. We had to have our bridge/​road rebuilt and that was done and delivery trucks had been making deliveries for a couple of weeks up here. He actually went back to his store and told Kelly that we did NOT have a bridge and that the installers would have to hike everything up to our house. This is the day AFTER he had driven up here himself! It was surreal! I pleaded with Kelly to complete the project and she said she would do some checking and call back the same day. She never called back and I had to call in two days later only to find out that Kelly had already decided not to do the work as promised. They let me speak to the owner, who is Kelly’s father in law so you can imagine where the loyalty lies there, and he said that he was not sure why they wouldn’t do the project and that he was «out in left field» in terms of knowing what was happening. He didn’t even offer a single apology for anything that had happened nor did he acknowledge that this was not the way to treat customers, especially ones who had been traumatized as we were/​are. I learned that this company recently had gone out of business and was trying to re-​start in east Boulder and my hope is that people will read this review and understand that this is not a fair, honest or ethical company. Fortunately we were referred by a friend to Mitch at Carpet Exchange in Boulder and he has been so wonderful. In fact that will be the FIRST positive review that I have offered for a business as well. Do NOT believe what they tell you and if you do, get a firm date in writing and do not expect any empathy whatsoever if they decide they don’t want to do the work. Please believe what I’m telling you here, it was truly the worst experience I’ve ever had dealing with a business.

The service at McDonald Carpet One is excellent. I worked directly with the owner, George, to carpet my new house. We had a tight schedule that had to be met in order to allow me to carpet my new house before moving in. They did a great job meeting the deadline and offering a good value. The one thing I would have liked was if they would have suggested a thicker pad. The one I received was a bit thinner. I would have paid a bit extra had I known.

McDonald Carpet One is the only flooring company I refer to my clients. The expertise, quality of product, expert technicians and «standing behind their work» far surpasses the Home Depots and Lowes of the world. Bob has always been extremely responsive when ever we have needs to get a quick estimate. If you want expert advice, the best installation technicians in the industry, and an honest company to work with, look no further than McDonald Carpet One.

Seriously, Mr McDonald?!? Where’s the estimate that you were going to get back to me «in a couple of days»? It’s only been about 3 months.
I went here hoping to get my kitchen done in Marmoleum. I knew exactly what I wanted, even had detailed, measured drawings (I used to be in the business). I told them that I was ready to go right now, like as soon as they could get the material… even offered to pay cash, up front. Never heard back from them. Which is probably just as well because the price that he threw out at me (just for materials!) was almost $ 10 a yard more than I ended up spending elsewhere — for materials AND installation.
Maybe they thought the job was too small? Oh well, their loss — I ended up doing two rooms in Marmoleum, one in hardwood, and two more in carpet. They may think that they’re the only Marmoleum dealer around, but not so.
