Oh boy I really hate to write a bad review for this salon because I’ve been going for quite awhile and, well, let me start with the pros:
It’s clean, has great ambiance and I never worry that I’ll get an infection. Plus the experience is a bit more upscale than your traditional walk-​in, bargain salon. The neck warmers and fresh tea are nice too. Lots of colors and the quick dry polish, natural nail polishes and gels, etc.
CONS: EXPENSIVE! I had a mani/​pedi and my bill was $ 105! The pedi is ok but I notice that the ladies put the polish a little too close to the cuticle so that when it starts growing out there is a sort of hard ridge looking thing at the bottom instead of smooth flat edge.
Otherwise, the nail length and shape was what I asked for and I like the color of the quick dry polish.
My manicure: I got some kind of safer/​healthier gel because my nails are in such bad shape. I’m older and my nails have never been nice, always thin and peeling and splitting. The tech was wonderful about making them look decent for my trip the next day. She used a pinkish tinted gel on my extremely short nails. My goal was to camoflauge the ridges and ugliness of my nails for my 4 day trip and hopefully to have them look decent for a couple of weeks. She also assured me that they would remove easily as I’ve had a lot of trouble getting gel nails to come off without tons of acetone based remover.
I left for my trip the next day and in the airport — the very next day — I looked down and the nail on the index finger of my left hand was completely lifted off hanging on my a thread. It literally peeled completely off. I took a picture of it — and another picture of the entire piece of polish that lifted right off and I sent it via email. I got a sincere apology and an offer to fix it immediately. Unfortunately I was about to board my plane so obviously I couldn’t take her up on her offer.
When I got to my daughter’s house I used her clear polish to at least make that nail shiny like the others. It was a completely different color and look as the gel nails were pink and quite a bit thicker.
The next day another nail on the same hand (the thumb) lifted clean off! I’m right handed and would have expected that hand to have the issues! Now, after just 10 days post mani I’ve had 3 nails on the left hand and one on the right lift clean off (guess I won’t have any trouble removing this GEL mani !).
The problem is that for $ 45 I should have gotten a manicure that lasted at LEAST a week! Not only a day. I wasn’t offered a refund (which I SHOULD have been since the reason I went in on the day before my trip was to insure no issues with my nails for the 4 days I’d be gone). That didn’t happen.
I am likely not going to return to this spa for that reason. I cannot afford to pay over $ 100 for a mani/​pedi and not have it be stellar. It SHOULD be stellar for that price right?
I’m sad because I REALLY like the atmosphere and the natural products. Maybe natural products just aren’t that good yet. In any case, I cannot justify the cost any longer. Sad.
UPDATE: Julie contacted me and apologized and offered me a redo with a service upgrade and told me that they do this service regularly without these issues… so maybe it’s my nails? In any regard, I think it was classy that she offered to correct the problem and so I’m increasing the stars from 3 to 4

J Lounge is the only nail salon I go to in Boulder. I love the online scheduling and ability to choose your nail tech. I always see Ella for my main/​pedi, and she is absolutely wonderful — not only in her service but also her conversation. I enjoy our appointments so much. Thanks JLounge!

Jlounge has a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. I love that they use more natural, high-​quality products and that it doesn’t smell like most nail salons! Their employees are top-​notch and provide a wonderful experience, no matter what the service.

Ella gave me the best pedicure I’ve ever had! She did a great job on all my callouses. My feet are really soft and smooth. And she really worked to make my two old-​lady thick nails look normal. Very happy.

Lovely experience. I had a mani /​pedi. I love that you can choose between natural, quick dry, gel etc, or just standard polish. I choose quick dry. The spa portion includes a very, gentle, thorough cleaning (the most important part, in my opinion). Fun colors, neat plastic color chooser, and no uv lights needed. Expensive but worth it.

Best Brazilian wax ever! I have been getting waxed for 15 years and this was the most pleasant experience so far.

Not bad. I had the hydration facial. The young women was nice maybe new in her trade. It was just super expensive for the service. Results were nice, I am just rating lower on price vs experience. It was $ 155.00 it was more like $ 75.00 treatment. Nice place good vibes.

Just left the spa, I had the best facial that I have ever had. Claudia was my technician, she made me feel at home and comfortable. She has wonderful hands and a soothing personality. I have sensitive skin so when I informed her she assured me that the products were natural and would be safe on my sensitive skin. I will absolutely be back to see her soon. If you want to be pampered you Must go see Claudia right away she is the Greatest. I had previously been there on a weekend but my last facial was nothing great. Then I spoke to my mom and she said that I had to go see Claudia. She is truly the gem of the spa.

Scheduling — the good — got in that day (on a weekend!); the annoying — asked about location and whether gps normally gets you there easily (it doesn’t) and I had to point out one doesn’t schedule a pedicure then a massage…
Services — the good — the massage therapist was talented; the annoying — the therapist forgot one service (though didn’t charge for it) however also took lightly what I didn’t want/​did need. It’s about the client…
Services — the good — the pedicure person was friendly and gave me a warm neck wrap; the annoying — she asked if I wanted my nails cut and I said yes. Two days later, I had to cut them myself because they were too long. During this service, someone cleaned near me (big pet peeve of mine) and another person used their laptop (that’s not a relaxing vision).
Both services were pricey. I’ve had better services at more reasonable rates. They have the essentials of a great spa but the vibe/​customer service wasn’t up to standard for me. I’ll need to find another business to make my salon and to take my sisters & friends.

Love the whole experience! Thanks for making my twin sister’s wedding party so special! we had a lovely time!

I never write reviews but I was so angry with their policy that I felt compelled. I scheduled a Pedi and was told that I would need to cancel 24 hrs. in advance or be charged 15%. I had no intention of cancelling however my sitter canceled leaving me know choice but to cancel. I called 21 hrs. before my app to cancel, the receptionist was rude and short with me and said I would be charged 50% of the service price! for no service! Originally I was told 15% but obviously I heard wrong. Its not like I called an hour before while the nail tech was waiting for me! I realize that people need to keep their appointments but I feel that charging clients 50% is very excessive for no service rendered, I will not be returning.

I loved the services here and the natural products. It was such a relief to find a place were beauty care doesn’t involve harsh chemicals. I’ve been into jlounge twice this week for two different treatments with two different people and hoped it would be my new home.
During both of my visits, the technicians expressed unsolicited religious and political opinions that made me uncomfortable. One brought up her religious anti-​gay beliefs and the other was sharing her drug and alcohol free lifestyle and how us Colorado residents who don’t smoke pot need to speak out against marijuana.
I’m a straight colorado native who doesn’t smoke pot AND isn’t bothered if not everyone makes the same choices as me. It was really awkward to be in a position where I couldn’t walk away or end the conversation. I had to sit there and listen politely until my services were done.
The woman waxing me was so involved in her own anti-​pot agenda that she forgot to use a special treatment after waxing to help prevent breakouts, which was the only conversation topic I initiated with her upon first entering the room. AND the whole reason I had decided to try getting waxed there was because of this special treatment the nail tech had told me about a few days earlier.
Sigh. 5 stars to 2.

I went here for a Bachelorette party and had a decent experience. I like the clean ambiance and environment. It was easy to relax while waiting and they were incredibly accommodating. The waiting area was comfortable and quiet. My only issue with Jlounge was that my nail technician was a little harsh. She continued to make comments about my very dry cuticles, that my job needed to be to drink lots of water before leaving. It got worse when she said that I was fighting her while she was doing my nails and that I needed to relax more. I felt like I was very relaxed and it made me super stressed when she continued to tell me that I was not relaxed and also told others in our party that I wasn’t relaxed. She also spent about 5 minutes complaining about her horrible sunburn on her back. I think she was trying to connect but at that point I felt a little done with the whole process. After my nails were done, she asked if I could possibly sit and relax for 10 – 15 minutes for my nails to dry. I am a nice person, so I laughed the whole awkwardness off… But it was not only uncomfortable for me but also for the others in our party who picked up on it as she continued to make really weird and sometimes rude comments to me. All of the other nail techs were super sweet and helpful. I would definitely go back if I were in Boulder, but I would want to make sure not to get the same person again.

Amelia was my technician today, and she gave me a hydration facial with a stem cell add on. It was just what I needed, I have very dry skin and she suggested I use the stem cell add on, so my skin would thicken and eventually my acne and dryness would reduce. I’ve been here before for a fresh face facial with Claire (she did a brilliant job as well), so I was excited to come back for more! Both facials were fabulous and left my skin feeling clean, refreshed, and well hydrated. I love that both Amelia and Claire left me with a list of things to do/​get to better my skin’s overall health. Will definitely be coming back soon for another facial, love this place!

Five stars. Brought mom here for a Mother’s Day facial and ended up getting a «gent’s» facial as well. Never had one before. I highly recommend this place. Very mello, great atmosphere.

It’s quiet and calm and clean and so relaxing when you’re just sitting back having your feet soaking prior to a pedi. The gals who work on nails are fantastic, and they now offer a more eco-​friendly polish option (which may not last as long but doesn’t smell as bad as regular polish!). The treats and treatments here are great, and I take my mom whenever she’s in town. They have seasonally-​inspired scrubs for your feet and I think their pedis are probably the best I’ve received, each lasting over 3 weeks!!!
My only sad note is I wish they were just a bit cheaper… I’m going broke going here all the time!

Today, jlounge rescheduled my appointment because one of their technicians couldn’t make it to work. That was fine, but when I got there for their earlier, re-​scheduled time my technician was still with another guest. I waited around for 20 minutes until my appointment began. The guest before me was talking LOUDLY on her cell phone about very personal matters. No one asked her to step outside. This same guest interrupted my appointment several times. None of the employees objected. How RUDE!
After that ordeal, the owners decided to have a meeting in the lobby, which ruined my relaxing environment. They were loud and inconsiderate of their guests. When I picked out a polish, many of the colors were «out». I settled for different one that I really hate. I took off the polish as soon as I got home because it was so horrid. After my technician was done she hurried off without a second thought. How disappointing.

I made my appointment online and got an appointment the same day which was great. My appointment was at 11:45 and when I arrived i was given a sheet to fill out asking medical questions (guessing incase I want to get a massage/​facial in the future). About 15 minutes later my 80 minute appointment began (late). I scheduled a mani/​pedi at $ 80 total (I did upgrade to Vinylux for an extra $ 5).
My appointment began with Helda who seemed very nice and not too chatty which I love, bc I want to enjoy and take it in, especially at $ 85. To my surprise no one offered me any of the wonderful Teatulia they had or anything else. The woman next to me (first timer like myself) was offered a warm neck towel and I wasn’t. She was also offered tea or water and I wasn’t. I would think at $ 85 I would have been offered a small split of champagne or something but nothing, not even water.
The technician next to me with the first time client was educating her client about the Vinylux which I inquired about while my technician was cleaning up and to my surprise I was sold. I have tried shellac and the process of removal is just too much of a hassle. The other technician upsold me on it and I may have tried other upsells would I have been given the opportunity.
The absolute most important part was the mani/​pedi and to my wonderful surprise they came out FANTASTIC. Helda knows how to work it, massage and polish wise, both looked and felt terrific. However once I added in tip (over $ 100 total for mani/​pedi) I will more than likely continue at my Asian salon bc of the price. When I feel like treating myself I will go back to Helda but for weekly maintenance, NO WAY. Would I have been offered the hospitality like the client next to me than I would probably become a regular client. Consistency and hospitality is key in this town it was a bummer I didn’t enjoy the overall experience but did enjoy Helda’s mani/​pedi.

I booked online for a gel manicure for me and my mom — soley based on the great Unilocal reviews.
The only nice things I have to say are that the salon was clean, the ambiance was great, and the front desk person was very kind and helpful.
Though in a college town, the target demographic is not college students, and not people who are looking for a long lasting gel manicure for a good price.
It is a hit and miss on whether the technician will be friendly — mine was great, but my mom’s seemed put out by having to work, and the one at the end with another client was snapping at the client.
I get a gel manicure every 3 weeks, and based on every other salon I have been to, jlounge is very expensive. Before tip it was $ 96 for 2 gel maniucres including $ 10 off for being new clients. Price breakdown is $ 45 for each manicure, and an additional $ 8 per person for gel polish removal ($ 53!!!). Definietly a special occasion place, not a regular maintenance salon for the average person!
The gel color I initially picked (out of the ~25 choices) was not available … couldn’t be found? I was fine with my second choice, but 2 days later I have a giant chip on my thumb — I would go back to have them fix it, but lucky for me its a Sunday, they are closed and I leave town today.
I do not recommend this salon for gel manicures — perhaps their other services are way better, but I can not speak to those.
I can’t wait to go back to my standard salon where gel manicures are $ 35 (with a free glass of wine!) and last 3 weeks — not $ 53 for 3 days!
