Gunbarrel Medical Center

My family and I have been a client at Gunbarrel Medical Center for over 30 years and worked with many different doctors. Everything has not been perfect, but it has been honest. When Dr Simons retired I was leary about seeing a new doctor, but Dr Juenemann took the time to listen to my history. As we talked through my meds we made some changes and planned a time to check in to see how things were going. I keep up with my medical issues and come prepared with questions. We work as a team — I trust him to tell me the truth, especially when it isn’t what I want to hear, and he expects me to be open about what’s really going on.
It is important to remember that the doctor’s office, the radiologist, the lab are different businesses as your insurance sees them. It is up to the individual to understand their coverage ahead of time.

We have been going to the Gunbarrel medical center for years. Recently we have used a new Dr there, Dr Michael McCarty. Our three children and my wife have all seen him and more recently also visited with Dr. Shane Juenemann. Unlike the other comments on this page I think Dr McCarty was one of the best docs we have ever had. Explained any problems, took the time to think about our issues and i would recommend him very highly. My son visited with Dr Juenemann and was happy with the visit.
Its easy to criticize the doctors, but lets remember they are working within a very controlled environment that is only getting worse as the government and insurance companies continue to think they know more about our health than the Drs.

I have never had an experience as terrible as I had at Gunbarrel Medical Center. I move and needed a PCP for prescription management. Blood pressure meds ect. Not only was I ridiculed but was made to feel like a pill seeking junky. I was told that you cannot be allergic to prednisone. And lectured about it before being sent on my way to try to find another doctor in Colorado who had a brain in there head. I would like to state clearly that this is very very wrong information and Dr. Shane Juenemann is an idiot. I have confirmed I am indeed allergic to prednisone. After being made to feel like an idiot I was turned away with a prescription for the controlled substance Clonasepam but not my blood pressure medication? I was told that he felt that I had too much going on and that he felt overwhelmed with my medical problems. Maybe you had your head hit a few too many times playing hockey since you have hockey pucks all over your office, but the last time I checked you took an oath that says, I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person’s family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick. These people should be ashamed of themselves.

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor’s office, and feel I must share to warn others.
When getting X-​rays, I asked Elizabeth, the radiologist, if there would be any issues with insurance, as last time I has issues with insurance that they, the insurance, ultimately ended up paying. She assured me that it was fine, just to get billing to resubmit it if there was a problem, and that I should get the X-​rays. Well, sure enough, there was a problem later; I called and billing did not resubmit, because this place IS BILLED AS A HOSPITAL. If I had been told that from the get-​go, I would have called my insurance and gone elsewhere… which is what you should do. After trying to resolve the matter with Elizabeth and the office manager on the phone, I was told «we can’t do anything, but we will research it and try. You can guess what happened after that, nothing. No follow up call, silence. Avoid this place, unless you want to be given false information and bad care by employees. In addition, my xrays were misdiagnosed & I was told I had an evulsion fracture, which my orthopedic doctor later told me… never happened according to the X-​rays. These folks couldn’t be a bigger waste of time and money, and doing it with lack of integrity too is the icing on the cake. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Can’t understand how you wouldn’t love this place. Staff is very friendly & competent and Drs are great
