Very quaint concert venue located right in a neighborhood of Boulder. It is quite an untamed setting. It is easy to get up close to see the performers. Don’t miss the great bar in the basement. The have a huge tv showing the stage so that you don’t miss anything.

first impressions of Etown were this is going to be awesome. Small intamite venue with great acoustics. Then the show began and i wanted to leave. I am sad i went here to see a band I love. The Oh Hellos performance was great, the usual energy, but in the first hour they were on stage, they played 3 songs… for a concert that is the worst. If you want to go an feel like you are a part of npr with a few great songs thrown into the mix you will love this. But if you love music and energy and the excitement a concert brings you will want to stay away. My advice is never go see your favorite bands here. It was not pleasant except the muaical parts which were far and few between. Wish my wife and I would have stayed in Denver for the night.

My god, do this! Everything about this experience had me happy to be alive in Boulder Colorado. Etown represents everything good about local and not for profit business. Their goal is to share talent and support charitable foundations and do-gooders around the world. For only twenty dollars I got to see Ray Lamontagne and JJ Grey for two hours! Etown is a radio program that is broadcast worldwide! They tape in a variety of locations-Fort Collins, Denver, Boulder-making it very accessible. If you come to a taping you get to see the live musical acts, interviews with the performers, a spotlight on someone or some foundation who is doing good things for others or the environment, and the behind the scenes of a radio program. Etown is hosted by the lovely and warm couple Nick and Helen Forster-old pros you could say at this whole radio hosting thing. They have seen the likes of Ingrid Michaelson, David Gray, The Barenaked Ladies and so many more. Check out their website for an upcoming schedule. The art and the humanity that collide in this program is unreal. The ONE downside, and the ONLY downside… I wanted to dance!

I’ve been in Boulder for 6 years now, and have seen the etown sign countless times at the Boulder Theater. Since the first time I saw the sign, I was curious about it, but never enough to actually buy a ticket. Enter my buddy Wade, who keeps raving about etown, always making the drive from Denver just to go to the live taping. Well, last night Wade gave me a call and told me he had an extra ticket to last night’s taping. I quickly checked the line-up and saw that it was Sonny Landreth and Juliana Hatfield. I didn’t know either artist very well, but gave them a quick listen on I-Tunes, and accepted the offer. Plus, I’m unemployed, so I really had no credible excuse. Needless to say, I am very happy that I decided to go to this event. As a little background, etown is a non-profit organization with an appealing mission statement, and I emailed them this morning to offer my volunteer services: etown’s mission is to educate, entertain and inspire a diverse audience, through music and conversation, to create a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable world. Read more about them at: The format of the show in a nutshell is this: — say hello to the audience — Nick Forster comes out and says hello to introduce the first guest — first guest comes out and plays a couple of songs — Nick Forster interviews first guest — Helen Forster reads a couple of advertisements — first guest plays another couple of songs — Nick Forster gives out an e-chievement award. What is the e-chievement award exactly? Click here: — second guest plays a couple of songs — Nick Forster interviews second guest — second guest plays another couple of songs — first guest and second guest and Nick and Helen, and the etones back-up band do a final jam all together on the stage. All-in, the recording session lasts 2 hours(for a 1 hour show). Seriously, last night was definitely one of the more entertaining nights out I’ve had in quite a while. If you enjoy live-music and conversations about current events, then there’s no reason not to go! The night before election night, they are doing a show in Fort Collins with Martin Sexton and Ozomotli. Plus, tickets are only $ 15. Now that’s a recession-proofed night out! And as far as last night’s performers, if you don’t know Sonny Landreth and are a big fan of blues or the electric guitar, then you should go check him out. I didn’t know about him before last night, but the guy is straight up nasty on the guitar. True Guitar Hero. I am officially a raving fan of etown.

This is the best live music deal in the Denver-Boulder area. I am eagerly anticipating the upcoming show at the Buell. It is such a cool, unique format hearing diverse musicians not only play, but also wax nostalgic about their humble beginnings, inspirations, etc. The best part also comes at the end when the two musical acts come together for a small jam session. With the current, abysmal state of music that gets radio play, it is refreshing to hear something like what etown presents: a rare sound with a positive message. Gives us radio fanatics hope for something better.

I’ve been in Boulder for 10 plus years and just went to my first Etown recording. What a great venue and set up. The atmosphere is incredible and length is perfect to take my wife. She doesn’t get into the 10 p.m. starts at the Fox, but loved this format. Go to Etown.

A non-profit radio show that tapes out of the Boulder Theatre on Sunday evenings. Not only do you get to see up-and-coming and famous musicians for a pittance but you get to see a radio show taped live which is pretty interesting. I saw Jamie Cullum play at etown and he, little hobbit that he is, hopped up on top of his piano to play upside down and do a little jig. It was highly-amusing. The list of guest musicians(see it on their site) is highly impressive. Hosts Nick and Helen Forster spend some good time interviewing the guests and doing some music of their own. It’s a bit like Boulder’s version of Prairie Home Companion without the funny accents.
