For 32 years The Elm Tree has been serving Boulder area families.

Our toddler center serves children ages 1 – 3 and our new preschool takes children ages 3 – 6.

We provide art, movement, music, learning and social opportunities as well as healthy, organic food.

An organic vegetable garden and spacious outdoor nature playscape give us plenty of ways to connect to nature. Come and see what we’re all about!

History

Established in 1983.

The Elm Tree was founded in 1983 by Laurene Ellmers and Doreen Trees (hence the name «The Elm Tree»). They both were working at The Boulder Infant Center and there was an apparent need for toddler care in the community so they decided to start a toddler program, encouraged and supported by the parents of the infants who had nowhere to go when they left the infant center. In 2009 Laurene felt like she was ready to pass Elm Tree to a new generation of educators. She wanted it to be someone who had spent time working there and who understood the program inside and out. Sarah, who had been teaching for several years and was acting as assistant director at the time, was given the opportunity to become the new owner of The Elm Tree. She graciously accepted and in November of 2009, the details were finalized and she officially became the new owner. In 2016 Elm Tree expanded to add a preschool classroom for children ages 3 – 6 in their new location, 2575 Glenwood Dr.
