Established in 2009.

Clutter fills a niche and need in Boulder and surrounding communities. Patty Ross, the owner, had experience with a previous consignment store and felt that she could create a well merchandised, selective and reputable consignment store that people would want to frequent, both as consignors and customers.

Business Owner

As a child, Patty saw her parents, who are antique dealers, going to auctions and garage sales and refinishing and reselling the items that they bought.

After graduating from college, she worked in retail as a store controller and then sold point of sale systems for NCR. She «retired» to raise her 3 daughters and re-​entered the workforce in 2005 as a part time employee in a consignment store. In 2009, Patty opened Clutter and has been having fun ever since!

This shop is wonderful. It is FULL of an ever changing supply of seriously cute home décor at amazing prices. The girls are sweet, helpful and fun. I can’t say enough about this place. I have consigned lots of furnishings here and they’ve sold quickly. Whether you want to buy, consign (sell) or just be inspired by neat, gently used home furnishings, Clutter is a Boulder gem.

Snooty owner, snooty staff. Did not feel comfortable there. Overpriced items. Simple earrings were almost 70.00. Will go where I am treated with respect, not looked down upon. Wake up people.

I have sold quite a few pieces of art and some small items through Clutter. Their online accounting system of the items they had and what has sold has been accurate and very helpful. I haven’t always agreed with their pricing but I have learned to ask when I drop off items. Overall a very convenient way to get rid of things.

I have been here just once before when it was much smaller. The increased sized is an asset to their display potential. They sold some things for a friend of mine who was moving out of state and downsizing and she seemed pleased with the experience.
The staff was very friendly and getting ready to close for the evening and working with a family buying some substantial pieces so they just let me browse. I saw some interesting classic items, mostly tables, chairs and drawer units. I saw quite a few upholstered pieces, sofas of all sizes and a few chairs. Though they were in excellent condition, they were more dated and less classic or historic. There is a lot of framed artwork on the walls, though mostly inexpensive prints. This was the only area in which I was able to find clearly visible prices. There is also a lot of dinnerware and drinking glasses.
If I was in a position of replacing or increasing my own furnishings, rather than downsizing myself, I would look here. I also determined that most of what I would want to get rid of myself, is not good enough to be consigned here.

Great customer service with design advice and free ‘preview’ for 24 hours to see if a piece works in your home– brilliant. However, the owner/​manager is very disrepectful of her staff, it is embarrassing to see her berate her employees– bad form!

I’d like to keep this place a secret, but it deserves a five-​star review. I’ve never been anywhere that has such nice stuff for such low prices. A lot of the furnishings are really high-​end. Even the things that are not high-​end look expensive. The owner has a really good eye for tasteful furnishings and I can never leave this place empty handed. I could furnish my whole house with stuff from here. The merchandise changes from day to day. There are always great items, from furniture to accessories. A true gem in Boulder.

DO NOT CONSIGN YOUR ITEMS WITH CLUTTER! This store lacks any integrity, apparently I am not the first person to consign something with them and never hear back from the for months, call them and ask hey whats up? And they say oh yeah, that thing, yeah we sold that a while ago, sorry, we can have your check ready in a week. I think they try to hope people forget about their items or something. To top it off, I pick up my check and they decide that taking 50% isn’t enough, they are so cheap that they deduct a $ 5 printing a check fee, ridiculous. I can’t wait to tell all my friends and family in Boulder to never buy or sell anything at this place.

I am a huge fan of Clutter Consignment. We bought our beautiful L-​shaped Italian couch there for only $ 750 (it retailed for $ 9000!). Everyone was super nice and they have a killer eye for beautiful home décor. The selection changes every week so I love stopping by when I can to see what they have available.
what’s nice is you don’t have to pick up your purchase right away. you have up to 3 days to pick up — or they can recommend a great moving service for your big purchase!
You can find everything from wares, textiles, furniture and lighting fixtures! You just have to stop by and see what they have!

What a great place for used stuff! The kitchen goods seemed especially good — like $ 9 for a 9 – 12 wine glasses, Misaka plate set for $ 20. In any case, this place is less hit and miss than Goodwill, not that you can’t find this stuff at GW.
But perhaps you’re like me and have fun at GW, but don’t really like the idea of having to scour Goodwills all over town week after week to get everything you need/​want. I was really happy to be in Clutter finding lamps I was willing to pay $ 25 for, etc…
I think Clutter is going to be my go-​to place if I really know what I want and I’m not looking for junk. If you’re looking for junk (sometimes you really do want the cheapo stuff), stick with GW of course.

I would buy furniture from Clutter. The inventory is nice and the prices are fair. However, I would NOT sell to them again.
We sold a nice leather chair to them four months ago. While we only received 50% of the total sale value, I figured that was a similar rate to other consignment stores so no big deal. But then the trouble started. Six weeks after the chair sold, I hadn’t heard from them. I called and although they «remembered having the chair in the store», there was no record of a sale and no chair to be found. Many more phone calls and a couple weeks later, they «find» the record… They apologized and said the check would be in the mail asap. EIGHT WEEKS later it arrives. Salt in the wound: a $ 5 charge for printing the check. Really, Clutter? $ 5 stinks, but I would have overlooked this were it not for the store’s complete lack of customer service or organization.
Clutter seems to be appropriately named: their consignment system is a complete mess.

I love frequenting Clutter! The store has a wide variety of nice pieces to enjoy. They have a knack for display and the sales team are friendly and helpful; nobody following you around and «overselling» the merchandise. I also think they do a good job of pricing which keeps the merchandise flowing and changing. I love to bring friends along and share the fun. I have bought several items from this store for my home and am very happy with them. I almost always shop Clutter for home décor before shopping and paying retail — and I like the idea of recycling. This store is definitely on my top 10 list.

I fell in love with several pieces of furniture here. I thought the prices were very reasonable for the nice quality and variety of styles they had in the store. Clutter has dressers, sofas, chairs, mirrors, kitchen goods and art work among many other knick knacks and treasures. I will definitely try them the next time I’m looking for furniture.

Don’t know of many homewares only cosignment but I liked it. Definitely on the pricey side, but I like that they make fully designed rooms based on what has been brought into the store.
