Terrible… don’t do it! I didn’t anything could be worse than Comcast’s customer service but they surpassed any and all frustrations I’ve ever had with Comcast.

My visits here are totally opposite of what some of these reviews are showing, I think these guys are friendly and have always been helpful. I have had CL for about a year and a half, and think they are a decent alternative to Comcast, one of the first manifestations of Satan on Earth seen in almost 176 years. Also according to the Vatican Historical Society, this is the first time Lucifer has directly possessed a business, hence the evil nature so evident in Comcast. Back to the topic of Century Link. The lady that works at this particular location, I forget her name so apologies, has always been a huge help when I’ve gone in. She was great starting up my service, helping me while I moved, and also when I had to change service levels. They’ve always been able to work with me, and never a negative expirience. All in all, competative prices for the area, and I think a better choice than the other ISP in the region. Their customer service just helps make me want to continue to be their customer for the long term.

We experienced a failure in service several years ago due to hard wire problem and switched to a wireless service, but found the internet segment of this service wasn’t up to the demands we have working from home. Gave CenturyLink another try, dealing with the local office who went beyond our expectations getting our service reinstalled in record time… service and new cable!

Absolutely horrible experience with this company. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH BRYCE. He does not give full information, just wants to get you out of the door and it extremely unprofessional.

My internet connection failed and they told me they’d have a technician out in five days and that the tech could only come out 9 – 5 which are my work hours. They also let me know that they couldn’t discount me except for the five days I missed service. I will absolutely cancel my service as I move to a new place. Even comcast has better customer service.

Century Link provides the worst service in town… Plus their customer service is completely unfriendly and useless…

NEVER EVER EVER choose CenturyLink. I cannot fully account for how awful they are on ALL levels. I only was with them 3 months, and it was nothing but lies, confusion, and serious problems. THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH! For your sanity, happiness, and money — DO NOT CHOOSE CENTURYLINK.
And the people have no idea what’s going on!

My step-​son wanted to practice his english and so answered the phone (and possibly said «yes» without understanding the question)
As a result, a company called USB attached their logo to our CenturyLink bill and charged us $ 2,000.
I wrote a letter to the FCC, which resulted in a refund of the $ 2,000, but it was time-​consuming.
I believe the slammers target immigrants (easy prey).
Watch out.

DO NOT USE!!! We had them for about a year and then moved and they had said we would only have 7 megabytes per sec. Then they went on to tell me that they could run two wires and it would double the speed and they would change $ 15 for each line to make a total of $ 30.00 a month so the tech came out then went on to tell us that, that wasn’t even possible and told me that I was lied to because the reps. Make money if the sell more so they lied and told me something completely different from what they were really doing. Then when the bill came it was twice that it was $ 30.00 for each line crazy it can’t be legal what this company is doing please don’t make our mistake!

I wish there was a way to give these incompetent «providers» zero stars. I’ve been a customer for 3 years and I’ve tolerated their horrible speeds and mediocre service but I’ve reached my limit. I waited a week for an install and then sat around for 6 hours waiting for a tech who never bothered to show up. I called today and they don’t even have the account number they emailed me in their system! Absolutely the worst communications company I’ve ever dealt with. Avoid them at all costs!

Their disconnect fee is roughly $ 200 to terminate service! Just learned this today. I am moving to a new apartment complex located just 10 miles away and was informed my new location does not have CenturyLink coverage available and will be forced to page a huge termination fee, even though my desire was to continue service. Really seems unreasonable as a fee and must have been fine print at the time of sign-​up. Big companies these days can really rip off the consumer. I’m pretty sure I had to pay an activation fee as well, which I’m used to seeing, but this absurdly high termination fee floored me. I’m sure 90% of that price is pure profit in their pocket.
This situation is worth warning others about.

I have finally cancelled my service with century link. I was paying $ 60/​month for 12mbps while rarely getting half that. Their technical support is a joke, as is customer service. There are also at least 5 different numbers you can call and talk to a robot or person, it just depends on whether you look at your bill or different pages on the website. How is that convenient??? No one seems to know if their hours are 8 – 6 mountain or central time. Do they not know what time zone they themselves are in? Oh, no they don’t, because they are in India. I cancelled my service on Friday then realized I felt cheated and wanted to dispute my final bill. Well, that is impossible. Not even an option. Though if I hadn’t cancelled I would’ve been able to call to adjust my bill. Again, how does that make sense? Choose century link at your own risk.

DSL service was ok while I had it, but they refused to take back the modem at the store when I tried to cancel service. I was told I had to call a special number to get a «return label». They kept me on hold for 20 minutes, answered the phone, then transferred me for a second 20 minute wait. And even then telling them my name, account number and desire to cancel service wasn’t enough– they more irrelevant questions before I got cut off. Draw your own conclusions.

I switched from Comcast to Century Link. I just received my first bill and, after only 17 days of useable service, owe them $ 318!!! I am stunned! I seldom use the landline and the 40Mbps is hit and miss. Is Nachio running things from prison? No one at Century Link has been able to explain why the bill is so high. To their credit, all have been really nice, but only one really went above and beyond to help me. All to no avail. Supposedly, I can only get a credit for the days I had no service based on the number of days I called in and, stupid me, I have more important things to do than sit on the phone for hours on end and try to figure out why my phone service isn’t working. I have been assured my next month’s bill will be lower, but I am not so sure.
If you are thinking of switching to Century Link, watch out. That first bill is a doozy!

Terrible experience so far. I believe Comcast is available in the area (I’m in Louisville) and although I haven’t tried them, I can’t imagine it can be worse than Century Link. Was told the soonest we could get our service activated was a week after calling to sign up for the service. They finally came out (last possible stop of the day) and got it activated, and surprise… it didn’t work. Have spent hours on the phone talking with people that I can only interpret half of their words and the soonest they can get someone out to look at the problem is 3 more days… Oh, and I’ve tried requesting to have this moved up, but supposedly the tech support has no contact with the local technicians and neither does the local office in Boulder, so my question was, who the hell manages the technicians and how the hell do I talk to that person? No response, just some mumbling apology and clearly a lack of recognition of what I was asking. I’ve talked with people in the Boulder office and they acted as indifferent to our problems as possible. Do what you can to find service elsewhere.

Every week I have to spend an hour of my time talking to someone named «Eric» from India I have to spend 60 of my cellphone minutes to have him tell me, I’m sorry john that your internet magically reset itself and yes it looks like the problem here is the same as last time! Your only getting 20% of your 40 megs that we now charge you 72.00 instead of 35.00. Also when the tech gets here and sees that the last idiot we sent to your house installed the internet incorrectly we will have to charge you 82.00. I see the next time we have available is in the next year or so. Also we noted that you will be at work at this time. Every time I have to deal with your service I want to kill myself. Your company sucks!!! and so does your customer service!!!

I don’t think these companies are ever ideal, but so far CenturyLink has been ok. We first signed up our internet with Quest which now I believe is part of CenturyLink. We went with them because they were cheaper than Comcast.
To set-​up everything was fine. They sent us the modem and connected our internet. Everything was fast and perfect. About 3 months later we started experiencing problems with the internet. It was slow and hard to connect. We had to call a number of times. Whether you receive someone competent or not at tech support is a hit or miss. Finally after calling back that the problem persisted they sent out a tech person. He worked it out and it was ok for a while but then it came back. Yet again I called back and they sent out a new modem. It was still having problems and I called them freaking out! The guy finally looked into it further and said the connection was not on the correct channel and that should fix my problems. So far he’s been right because our internet has been working great for a couple months now.
My suggestion, particularly if you go with CenturyLink, is be persistent if you are experiencing problems. I think they’re quick to tell you to re-​start the modem, and if nothing is working than it may be a problem on your end with the ports. Also like I said, seriously I think some of their techs are completely ignorant, and you can tell immediately. So it may take a little to get someone that actually knows what they’re doing.
However, the one redeeming quality is they are very quick with rectifying the problem once they know what it is. The sent a tech out the very next day when I called, and when I needed a new modem it came very soon after it was ordered. I think all these companies, Comcast, AT&T, CenturyLink, can be very frustrating at times, but at least this one saved me a little money.

Continual outages and slow response time. Unfortunately, they are the only game in town. Boo on Centurylink.

They offered 7mbps speed download, the most i got was .8 mbps, which meant the service was unusable. This was after hours on the phone with them, setting up appointments, missed appointments on their part (they showed up late), getting hung up on by a representative, and once being transferred 4 times (something like India — Ohio — Technical then from Qwest to Century Link or vise versa).
After all of that hassle, I cancelled my service and now they are trying to bill me for service and a returned router. I strongly recommend avoiding their service.
I now have Comcast which is not only very fast (25 mbps) but the customer service has been great.
