History

Established in 2008.

Colorado Dispensary Services began as Boulder County Caregivers in 2008 when spouses, Mike Leigh and Jill Lamoureux, wanted a way to get Mike’s excess medicine to other patients. What started as a delivery service soon moved into a small, discrete office in Boulder. Meeting patients in parking lots just didn’t feel legal or compasionate and the drive down Coal Creek Canyon was tortuous on Mike’s spine.

Being the first dispensary in Boulder, Mike and Jill tried to keep everything as low key as possible, however the demand at the time was extraordinary since it was before the dispensary explosion. As a patient himself, Mike takes in pride in growing his own medicine and seeing it help others.

In March 2009, the Colorado General Assembly introduced legislation to regulate dispensaries and CDS needed to become politcally active. Jill now sits on the Department of Revenue and Department of Health medical marijuana advisory committees.

We began BCC after Mike’s fourth degenerative disc disease-​related surgery. Mike realized that MMJ was a much more effective and natural way to help reduce chronic pain and peripheral neuropathy than narcotics and opiates.
