303 Vodka

Visiting from Salt Lake and was charmed by the hospitality and short tour on how they produce their product. The drinks were good and the price even better. Don’t be scared off by the nearby auto repair shops and gravel road… the not so appealing neighborhood just means less crowds and better ones too.

The guys at 303 Vodka are awesome. They are full of pride for what they do and they aren’t afraid to share their story or give you a tour of the place. I had a great time tasting their many infusions of flavored vodka and whiskey and an even better time learning about the process and trying their specialty cocktails. The Dreamsicle was my favorite. This place has got its own style with model airplanes hanging, and vintage games all over the place. You’re going to have a good time here, so definitely check it out.

Left with mixed feelings about 303 Vodka. The «tasting» room is really more of a bar than an actual tasting room. Asked if they did actual tastings of their spirits, since a lot of distilleries do, and they don’t. They only offered mixed drinks, which is fine, just not what I was expecting. Tried to get something, even like a little background about them, from the woman at the bar, but she wasn’t particularly interested in talking to us outside of getting our drink order.
The location itself is very cool, but the experience just wasn’t great. Wouldn’t recommend it.

The place has changed a lot over the years and is now more of a bar than a tasting room. The place is cute and funky but the liquor is still terrible. I like infused booze, but the reason why they are infusing this booze is because it tastes terrible.

Visited 303 distillery on our trip to Denver. We had a flight of vodka which included 6 infused vodkas; we weren’t disappointed by any of them! Brandy at the bar was interactive and very knowledgeable about the process and flavors! I would definitively recommend (and return to) this establishment!

So many good things to say about 303. First, the tasting room is unique and full of character. Not at all what I was expecting– it was better. Laid back, funky atmosphere where two dogs great you when you walk in. There’s lots of décor to look at as Steve decorated the space with really cool items that have been passed down from prior generations. This family run operation also had a great display behind the bar of all their infused spirits. My favorite was the banana infused whiskey. They promised me it would go great in a Manhattan and they were completely correct.
When all of our chit-​chattin was done, Steve got us ready for the tour by ensuring our drinks were full. The tour was the best one I’ve ever been on because the space was small, and since it was just me and one friend, Steve explained the process to us in a way I was able to comprehend. It jus felt so genuine. I wanted to hang out there for hours. If you’re from out of town, this is a must!

We had a tour with the owner/​creator despite the fact we just walked in unreserved. Fortunately, another couple arrived right around the same time as us that had scheduled a tour so it worked out well for us. Considering the novelty of this place and the fact that it’s potato vodka, not grain, you really have to temper your feelings about the prices of the drinks.
For the first part of our visit it was notably a little awkward; the bartender didn’t really make any attempt to socialize with us. You get the feeling that you are sitting in someone’s garage and there isn’t much in regard to entertaining yourself until you get your buzz going. In fact, I do not recall if there was even any music.
If you think you will be wanting to sample my recommendation would be to order a drink before you order a flight sampler because starting out with shots and nothing else on your pallet will probably give you a bad impression (drinking gasoline?). Perhaps I’m just getting old and doing shots really isn’t for me these days. It is impressive that they are pulling 95% alcohol out of their stills and the product going into the collection bottles is sweet and smooth… in fact, I really wish that they would just sell me a bottle of that! When you distill for such a long period of time you can imagine how potent your product would become.
For their whiskey, I did not try any since I am not a whiskey fan so I cannot recommend or not. I did think it was interesting however, that they age in wine barrels which the owner and his wife collect when they visit vineyards. I’m sure this makes the flavor somewhat unique to traditional whiskeys so it’s something to keep in mind if trying.

I had so much fun trying the different vodkas and taking a tour at this place. At first it was a bit hard to find, all the way in the back of the business complex. Once inside, 303 Vodka has a personality of its own with a genuine small business feel. Very relaxed atmosphere, and fun environment.
You can try a flight of 8 vodkas for $ 14 which I thought was a great deal. My friends and I were able to try almost every flavor. We had a hard time keeping track which was which, but they were all delicious. Usually vodka doesn’t sit well with me but surprisingly I was able to drink all of them and I wasn’t too tipsy.
The tour was free and really cool. I knew nothing about vodka before coming here. It was awesome to see how everything is made from start to finish right in front of your eyes. HIghly recommend if you have a group and would like to do a really fun event.

The name of this place is a bit deceiving — they’re not just vodka anymore, as they have a very decent potato whiskey as well. Also, rumor has it, they’re working on a rum (not potato based though).
I got the pleasure of sitting around in their tasting room on a slow night, sipping on a variety of their infused vodkas, their traditional vodka (SO good!) and their drinks. A friend who’s been there before ordered a Bloody Mary — they really nailed that drink by using a pickle vodka and top-​notch ingredients (also, it had a nice burn). I’m still in the holiday mood, so I tried a hot chocolate with the candy cane vodka. My brother tried their pickle-​tini, which is essentially pickle juice and pickle infused vodka.
Overall, the place is pretty fabulous. Their main vodka is high quality — goes down very smoothly, and has a mild flavor. The drinks are on the pricey side, but their ingredients tend to be top-​notch — himalayan salt, really tasty pickles (the hot chocolate wasn’t as good, it was made out of a standard mix). We were there on a quiet night, so the bartender spent some time telling us all about their offerings and giving us samples to try. Definitely worth it.

I have been a long time whiskey drinker, traveled abroad and sampled spirits from not only different states, but from different countries. I am a Colorado native that will fiercely defend and promote any product that comes from my home state.
I was very pleased to be invited to 303 for a long time friend’s birthday party, as I had never had any of their spirits and had heard great things about their whiskey.
This all came to a bitter tasting end when I arrived and sampled some of their product.
The staff was exceptional, and friendly, the bartenders were knowledge mixologists, but the product (whiskey in this case) was awful.
I ordered a ‘Red Rocks’ (whiskey and ginger ale on ice). The flavor of the whiskey was indescribable; it reminded me of homemade moonshine without the punch.
Virtually flavorless, with a metallic finish. I rarely send a drink back to the bar, especially for $ 7. However, I could not drink this, as it was causing a strange gagging sensation with every sip.
Another friend who attended the party, is also a whiskey drinker. I asked her for her opinion. She took a sip and cringed. Neither of us wanting to be the people who ruin a party by complaining, went back to the bar where we thought to sample some other product. She chose the blackberry infused whiskey… which dear friend who may read this, tasted like some hairspray with a hint of berries. Absolutely awful!
We returned our drinks and chose a Bloody Mary, which was good! After all, if you cut alcohol with enough tomato juice and hot sauce you can get practically anything down.
I am sincerely hoping that we were privy to a bad batch of whiskey, and that the regular spirits are much better. But I will never return to find out if this is true.
With the prevalence of the other local distillers in Colorado, and the quality small batch spirits they produce I am sure 303 will either have to drastically pick up its game or be a novelty of Boulder’s past.

They only serve their liquor and infusions, but that is all you need! The vodka and whiskey are both fantastic, and the bartenders are very well experienced in creating excellent cocktails to highlight their products.
My personal favorite is the vanilla infused vodka with root beer and fresh whipped cream.
The tasting room itself is simple, and awesome. They throw the garage doors open, have some sofas, play someone’s iPod and that’s it. And it is awesome.

Off the beaten path, but worth it. I’ve been looking for a casual place to grab a drink and not feel like I’m Going Out. (Hard to do, in this town.) 303 might be it. Great booze, love the rotating cast of flavored vodka, and honestly? For what you’re getting, the prices aren’t that bad. Local artisan vodka, $ 6-​$ 10 for drinks that are basically doubles is TOTALLY REASONABLE, people.
Maybe I was there on an off night, but I wish the bartender was a bit more helpful in navigating the infusion list (I didn’t realize I could ask for samples — NOW YOU KNOW), and even if I had, I have no idea what sort of drink I’d like with any of them.

Good alcohol, and creative drinks served in canning jars. The place itself is a warehouse with funky western styling. You can see some of how they distill their liquor from the bar. And there is good outdoor seating with a view of the front range and bike parking right near the Goose Creek bike path. A bit pricey, but they are big drinks. All good, but …
There’s about a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance that the place is having a private event (or just closed altogether) on any given weekend evening. I’ve been turned away at least 3 times out of maybe 6 or 7 times I’ve tried to visit 303 in 2012. Definitely going to call ahead in the future. Would get 5 stars if they were open reasonably close to their posted hours.

I would still recommend the tasting room at least once, but a few things have changed since my last visit (December 2011):
1. The prices of the drinks INCREASED. Now most drinks are in the $ 8-​$ 10 range. Some drinks are unique, but they are definitely NOT worth the price.
2. Rob’s Mountain Gin is no longer affiliated with 303, or at least they are no longer selling bottles/​drinks of RMG. The gin was the best spirit, apparently Rob figured this out and jumped ship.
3. Service can be slow.
Have ONE drink, but don’t stay long.

Bartender (wish I remembered her name) was the type of person that not makes you want to stick around, but you want to actually talk to.
Of course, if you haven’t tried their spirits, you must. They’re known for the vodka, but I am a huge fan of Rob’s Mtn Gin. This gin is amazing. I currently have a bottle for my home bar, and I think I’ll always have a bottle from now on.
Interestingly, they are making the world’s first potato whiskey. I wasn’t super impressed by it, as far as whiskey goes, but the inovation is spectacular.
Def. the best atmosphere of any tasting room. Rustic, with real miniture airplanes hanging from the roof. Very cool!

303 Vodka on its own is quite nice. Polish potato vodka from an old family recipe? Yes, please! The 303 Tasting Room just adds to the awesomeness of this place.
First of all they have infused flavors that change out every week and these ain’t ya gran pappies flavors. On my recent visit I tried celery peanut and jalapeño pineapple vodkas. Well, to be fair they do have some more traditional flavors as well like dill pickle or strawberry, but I like to live an adventurous life…
The room itself is bar-​bones with a small bar and lots of distilling space. Still, it’s a friendly place that makes you feel right at ease. They also do some fun events with live bands, outside tents, and the occasional food truck. Plus, it’s a starting and ending point for the Boulder Cruisers. Pretty awesome, huh?

What a wonderful accidental find this place was! Thank god they’re pet friendly so I could stop dog walking and start drinking.
The place is tiny. If it wasn’t for the massive sign and the open garage door you probably wouldn’t assume it was open to the public. Thankfully it is and they make some mighty fine spirits in this joint.
The vodka and gin is delish and the atmosphere is extremely casual. Drinks are really reasonably priced and the cocktail list is a lot of fun. They have everything from the more traditional adult beverage to the root-​beer inspired. Also, be sure to live a little and try their pickletini, it’s the best I’ve had (and yes I’m speaking from experience).

We found this place completely by accident one afternoon on our trip to Colorado. Wow, what a treat and unexpected surprise. From the outside, not much to look at, but what a fun place to hang out!
They make their own potato vodka right there.
The inside is very «down-​to-​earth» with old couches, model airplanes hanging from the wall, and sawhorses as barstools for a very cool old bar.
The bartender was fun, inviting, and friendly. We had the root beer float cocktail which was a great way to start out and very good.
Highly recommended!
