History
Established in 1997.
In 1989, Gayle was given an Alaskan Malamute puppy, Yukon, who was smart, but wild and unmanageable. They needed help! After attending several dog classes, Gayle found that training changed their life! Life went from being a physical and mental battle for control to orderly, pleasant, enjoyment of each other. Their relationship developed to where living together was harmonious. Walks were fun for both of them!
Gayle started Pawsitive Steps in May, 1997 after doing an apprenticeship with a local dog training center. Her mission is to help others enjoy living with their dogs. She understands the frustration and heartache of loving an out of control animal. Her greatest joy is helping families and dogs! For several years, Gayle taught at the Seattle Humane Society. Gayle still attends conferences and workshops, has earned her CPDT-KSA certification, and currently holds classes and workshops in 2 NNorth Seattle locations as well as private in-home training and behavior consultations.

Even as a young child, Gayle was in-tune with the animals around her. She gravitated towards every dog and cat she met and spent hours playing with her neighbor’s pet skunk. At the age of six, Gayle discovered that even the local squirrels would perform tricks in exchange for bits of her peanut butter sandwiches. This passion for working with animals has been a driving force behind her career and life choices. After all these years, she’s still sharing her peanut butter sandwiches.
