Joseph M. Hanrahan, DDS

My family has been going to Dr. Hanrahan for over 10 years and all of us have been impressed with his skills. He is thorough, careful and there is minimal or no pain with any procedure he has done for us. His quality of work is excellent. The office environment is comfortable and his staff is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They make patients feel very relaxed doing the visit.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Hanrahan and his office staff since 2006. I go in twice a year for cleanings; he has placed crowns and a bridge over this time period. The bridge is a nice tight fit which never gives me any troubles. While we are working on a care plan he shows me the x-​rays and we decide the course together. I have always had excellent pain free care from everyone who has provided service to me there. Dr. Hanrahan is very caring and wants to ensure, even if it takes extra time, that I feel no pain and as little discomfort as possible. Currently, he is watching a tooth that has a fissure in it; he will not and has never done unnecessary work. I highly recommend him and his wornderful office staff.

I do not understand why the last review was so negative, I believe it may have been a communication problem. Dr. Hanrahan has been my dentist for many years. He is absolutely thorough and very caring. He is very detail orientated. He makes sure that my crowns are measured for precise fitting, and goes over all the technicalities Several times. All my crowns and fillings have been perfect, I have also had no complications. Dr. Hanrahan has also referred me to an oral surgeon for a couple of implants. that Doctor was a also of the same high caliber. I strongly recommend anyone that has any doubts about going to a dentist, to first go to Dr. Hanrahan, who will make you comfortable, inform you, and put you at ease.

Dr. Hanrahan is the best dentist I’ve ever had — and I’ve had more than a few. I’ve been going to him for about ten years, and he’s always done an exceptional job. He is very gentle, careful, thorough — and not money-​grubbing like some other dentists I’ve encountered over the years. Plus, he has had the same great staff for as long as I’ve been going to his office, and that speaks volumes about his character and integrity in my book.

I liked Dr. Hanrahan’s office.
Until I went to have a cavity filled.
I attended college out-​of-​state, so when I missed my appointment at Dr. Hanrahan’s office, I had to reshedule it at my Indiana dentist’s office.
Imagine my surprise when, after FINALLY getting to my appointment — Dr. Hanrahan’s office required three reminders and almost two weeks to fax my information to my other dentist — my Indiana dentist looked at my mouth and told me that there was ABSOLUTELY NO CAVITY THERE. He saw absolutely no cavity — used a mirror and images to demonstrate that — and sent me away, saying that if I wanted him to he would, but that he saw no need to drill a perfectly good tooth.
Needless to say, I will NEVER go back to Dr. Hanrahan’s office. Of course you trust your dentist when he tells you about a cavity that you will then, logically, pay him to fix. Not any more — but after two years of avoiding the dentist’s office, I just had my first appointment at Avila Dental in Northgate, and had a wonderful experience with the kind and sweet Dr. Bello, and their 90%-less-radiation Xray equipment. I don’t have overly sensitive teeth or gums, but I will say that she somehow made dental equipment feel like grazes from a feather. It was the least invasive and irritating dental appointment I’ve ever had, and because of their digital X-​rays, she was able to show me both a cavity that had developed, and how to take better care of my teeth. Since it’s a new office, they offered free whitening services for new patients.
Competition? I think not. I will NEVER go back to Dr. Hanrahan’s.
