Amazing Mama Birth Services

Oesa was recommended to us by the UW Midwives at NW Hospital. After talking to a few other recommended Doulas, I defintely knew Oesa was a good fit for my needs. I’d had a somewhat traumatic birth experience with my 1^st baby (which was a home birth — picture an ineffective 1^st time Doula, and a midwife that didn’t think I needed any help/encouragement…oof), and thought for sure I wanted an epidural on the menu for the 2^nd time around. Although after touring NW Hospital, I knew that a hospital birth was not something I felt comfortable with. Oesa helped me build my confidence to make the decision I wanted in my heart — to go unmedicated and out of a hospital.
Our prenatal meetings were very productive and she really met my concerns head-​on, and helped put me at ease. She had great advise and experience on welcoming a sibling. And when my water broke 30 hours before my son was actually born, she was right there with us. Of course, we all ended up going home from the birth center after a day of waiting — but the next morning after a hidden bag of water was broken, labor got cooking quickly. I felt very supported, cared for, encouraged and in control in large part because of Oesa. It ended up being a 3 hour labor, and she gladly snapped a few priceless shots as he was being born into the water.
From experience, I think that making sure your Doula fully understands and supports your needs is paramount to a positive birth experience. Oesa can easily be that person for you — I think she has the ability to adapt seamlessly… and may actually know what you need even before you do.
I will say my husband and I weren’t totally wild about the Birthing from Within method — but when it comes down to it, it doesn’t really matter what method you chose. As long as you have a good support system and confidence to push (no pun intended) you through.
