History
Established in 1951.
WGBH first hit the airwaves in 1951 with a live Boston Symphony Orchestra radio concert. Four years later Channel 2 signed on. Today, millions of New Englanders enjoy WGBH across a range of TV and radio channels. We’re PBS’s single largest producer of content for television (prime-time and children’s programs) and the Web, a major supplier of programs heard nationally on public radio, and a pioneer in media access for people with disabilities. Explore our proud history and the impact of all that we do!
