I would give no star. 1^st time here today. I have to say, bad customer service. The 2 ladies in the front didn’t bother to greet me. The eye exam took less than 10mins… The doctor didn’t even dilate my eyes. My eye exam usually 20 – 30 mins every year. Once I was done I wanted to pick out a new pair of glasses, the 2 front people didn’t want to help me. I feel like because I’m Asian so they don’t like me. I will definitely write to corp office to see if I can get re-​exam from another location & get better service. You think in a financial district area, you would get a highly professional staff, but this is below expectation.

My insurance allowed a free eye exam and a free pair of glasses. Dr. Carlos did a great exam and answered all of my questions thoroughly. The service as I selected my frames was excellent. The two women at the front desk were attentive, honest, knowledgable, and fun to work with. The glasses arrived on time. The whole process was efficient, pleasant and I would definitely return.

Horrible customer service here. first, I ordered two different pairs of glasses. They put in an order of two of the same pair. Second, they did not confirm me as a patient when the company I was ordering contacts from requested verification. When I called them, the staff member kept referring two my having two files like their lack of organization. I won’t be coming back for my next exam.

If you are looking for a quick eye exam, go ANYWHERE but here. I needed a contact lens prescription, and was expecting the exam to take about 30 minutes. Instead, I have spent ONE MONTH trying to get a simple prescription written. After waiting WEEKS for sample lenses to arrive so I could try them on, and after 2 exams because the first one was incorrect, finally, A MONTH after my initial exam, I walk out with a prescription. And if that wasn’t enough — I ordered my contacts online, only to get a call from the online store saying they weren’t able to verify my prescription, because Visionworks has no record of me ever being seen there. WHAT???
This place is an absolute disaster… needless to say, I’m not going back next year!

I am writing regarding the Malden branch.
The manager there is a woman who is very rude, and condescending, she stated to me she has 25 years in the business, then it was 38 years. What she doesn’t understand is that years of experience having nothing to do with the service you provide today. I usually go to For Eyes in Saugus and will be going back to For Eyes next year. The manager of Malden told me she wants to enjoy her weekend and I told her that isn’t how you talk to a customer. Very unprofessional. I am so disgusted with the way she talks to people. Also she claims that she knows it all about medical co payments and she pays copays three times a week.
Terrible way to talk to customers.

My appointment was cancelled and I was not informed until I arrived. Not an email or phone call was made to notify me of this cancellation. I didn’t even get an apology for the inconvenience. Shame on you Visionworks! I have found a new provider!

The prices on the glasses appeared to be reasonable. I can even deal with waiting a week or two for my order to come in. What isn’t okay is to stand around in an empty shop, practically need to beg for someone to assist me, then get massive attitude from the saleswoman. I had my prescription and insurance information in my hand, all I needed was to have everything input into their system and pay. The woman was so lazy that she refused to help me, even going so far as saying that I forged my insurance information and that I wasn’t really covered. A quick call to VSP confirmed that I was correct but I just ended up walking out. Who wants to give a company their money when they get treated that way? Certainly not me.

First let me say that I only went to VisionWorks for an eye exam; I did not purchase any glasses or contacts.
My experience was great! I went because I had an issue with another eye doctor and needed my prescription corrected quickly. I was in and out in 30 minutes with clearer vision and all my questions answered by Dr. Carlos. Again, I can’t speak to the optical shop, but for eye exams, I recommend this place.

3 weeks for contacts and now 25 min wait to pick them up and they only ordered trials for 1 eye. How does this even make sense when I to them I needed them in a rush. Sooo frustrated. Not to mention customer service skills are dismal

Manager and optometrist Mario Jaramillo is one of the worst in the business. Would not give me my prescription after my initial purchase and wanted to charge me again to have it taken again.

I’m not sure why this Visionworks has two stars — maybe people had trouble with the glasses purchases.
I, for one, went their for an eye appointment without insurance and when I called them to book an appointment they told me it would cost $ 75. I was worried they would try to pull something on me after my appointment and make me pay for something extra, but in the end it was still $ 75. I arrived about 20 minutes early to my 12:30 appointment and filled out the very easy paperwork and was told to sit and wait for the doctor. After maybe 10 minutes of waiting, maybe less, Dr. Sally Carlos called me into her office. I went through my appointment with no problem and Dr. Carlos was very helpful in telling me what was going on with my eyes. She explained to me what my prescription meant and the adjustments she made. When it came to doing the eyedrops to test for eye diseases, I asked if I could do it myself because it’s easier for me and she obliged without a problem.
While I waited for my eyes to dilate she said I could browse around the store. The only reason I give four stars is because their glasses selection was fairly lacking and the prices were in the middle range (about 120 for the frames, not including the lenses to my knowledge). After about 10 minutes I went back into Dr. Carlos’ office and she did the rest of the exam. She filled out my prescription and told me what to ask for at the eyeglasses store. She also wanted to make sure I’d be alright after getting my pupils dilated, since it can cause light sensitivity.
After my appointment I paid without a problem, and the staff was helpful, friendly, and seemed very energetic. It all seemed as though they got along well with each other and were willing to help each other out.
I would definitely go here again for an eye appointment — I had absolutely no issues and the staff was great!

I was fitted for glasses last year by the Manager of this Store and was quite impressed with his service; however, upon returning for service the other two staff helped me. They both seem indifferent to customers and without cracking a smile tried in vain to help me. They appear miserable in the job. I will never return unless I am assured the Manager is present to help me. This Store needs new Staff.

I’ve had a lot of problems with this store.
When I came in for my third appointment, they told me I had no insurance when I showed up for the appointment. So of course while I tried to figure this out, I missed my entire appointment. At most other places, they check to make sure your insurance is good BEFORE you show up (like when you make the appointment).
I generally feel ignored when I come in, and the staff never seems happy to have to help me out. They get the job done, but I feel like I’m just bothering them by being there.
The optometrist on staff has always been super sweet, and I enjoy seeing her. But you deal far more with the front end of the store anyway.
Due to my insurance I have little to no choice over where I can go, but if I could switch, I absolutely would.

I just needed a contact lens, so I called around in advance to get prices, and VisionWorks had the best price — nearly half the price of another place in the area for the exact same brand and prescription! I brought in my prescription, but since it had recently expired they had to call my eye doctor to authorize it. The VisionWorks employee was patient and pleasant despite being put on hold for nearly 10 minutes (during which time I had fun trying on eyeglass frames from the large but fairly basic selection). I didn’t have insurance coverage for my contact lens, but they asked a few questions to determine if I was eligible for any discounts, and they were able to give me a 20% discount! My lens arrived right on time, and pick-​up was easy.
Both times I went to VisionWorks, the employees at the counter had no idea what an RGP (rigid gas permeable, i.e., hard) contact lens was. You’d think I walked in asking to order a carburetor. They did, eventually, figure out what I needed and located it in the computer. I got the impression there is a lot of employee turnover.
