Super happy I found Joanna! I’ve been in need of professional headshots for awhile and have been putting it off because I was being cheap and didn’t want to spend the money. I finally decided to bite the bullet and searched high and low for a photographer. After researching a few photographers I realized I also wanted to go to a studio that would also do my makeup professionally because hey I wanted to look great in my pictures. I found Joanna this way and after taking a look at her website and portfolio I knew she was the one I wanted to work with. I sent off an email afraid of the cost but I was surprised that it was less than I expected, fabulous! She was so attentive she emailed and called me and really listened to what I wanted. The day of the shoot she was super nice and the makeup she did on me was so fierce yet natural for a headshot. She knew how to position me and what would shoot well. I am so happy I found Joanna and took my headshots with her!

Joanna is a very talented makeup artist! I did a bridal trial with her and my makeup looked flawless. I also chose her as the makeup artist for my wedding — she did my bridal makeup as well as the rest of my wedding party. Everyone looked so beautiful and the pictures came out great! Joanna is very professional and thorough. We e-​mailed multiple times back and forth and she provides a lot of detailed information about her services and products. Her prices reflect the quality of her work and her experience. I highly recommend Joanna for her makeup artistry services because she’s the best in Boston! Thank you Joanna!

For my wedding, I have had many makeup trials because I think its the most important part of the wedding next to the dress. No one – not even celebrity makeup artists in NYC – came close to Joanna.
Brides are really lucky to have her in the Boston area. Very few (or none) makeup artists have her level of talent and versatility in this area. My bridal party has women of all ethnicities and Joanna is truly gifted and able to work with any skin type.

Joanna is amazing without a doubt. She did an awesome job with creating the look that I wanted for my wedding party and I on July 27, 2014. As my wedding theme was elegant, timeless and vintage, I wanted all of my ladies to look the part. I remember coming down the stairs on my wedding to a group of very beautiful women. Tears flew to my eyes because I could not believe how beautiful everyone looked. It was as if she took everyones beauty and magnified them by 10. She is absolutely amazing. I am not a huge make-​up fan and usually only do the mascara, lipstick and blush so I was terrified that I would not recognize myself on my wedding day considering the heavy amount of make up I usually see other brides wear. However, with Joanna’s art my face did not feel heavy, I did not feel fake and I looked exactly like myself — just a little more dolled up! I appreciated the fact that she listened to my concerns. I was recommended to research Joanna by a friend and never have I ever been more grateful. Her upbeat personality made the experience wonderful and her pricing and quality were just right.

Once again I called upon Joanna’s professional make-​up service. I was attending my high school class reunion (October 12, 2014) and I wanted to look gorgeous. I knew she could give me the look that I wanted, which was the «smokey-​eye look», with a finish touch of a red lip gloss Well… when Joanna was done, I looked fabulous. I felt radiant and beautiful. My husband who does not like to see me in a lot of make-​up, complimented me by saying «I looked beautiful and sexy». I just want to make sure I share how wonderful Joanna is and was for my wedding day! I have worked with Joanna many times since I am a hairstylist. We have made many brides look amazing. Joanna is an incredible makeup artist and I’m so happy she was there for me on my wedding day (and the night before!). I looked on Joanna’s website and saw her immense talent for making brides of various ethnicities and who wanted different looks (everything from natural to dramatic) and trusted that she could do the same for me. I put a deposit down without even having a makeup trial which I was nervous about, but she did not disappoint.
I hired Joanna to do 3 completely different looks for my Indian wedding: a Friday night «fun» look, my wedding «natural look with pink lips» and my reception «dramatic nighttime» look. She did an outstanding job on all three and everyone was complimenting me on how great I looked. She also made my mom look beautiful and natural for all 3 events as well.

I cannot express enough how amazing Visage-​1Studios is. Joanna Petit — Frere is an extremely talented Photographer and Makeup artist. My experience from start to finish with my photo shoot was perfection. Before the shoot took place she took the time to discuss all details with me. We talked about the overall concept including the makeup look, clothing, hair styles and location. The hair stylist that she provided (Nancy V Brown) was amazing. Not a single detail was missed. I am a professional agency signed plus size model and am always looking to shoot with the best and Joanna is the best!
Joanna is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She is extremely professional and amazing to work with. I was so comfortable. She brought out the best in my posing to make sure I looked good.

Finding a wedding makeup artist was quite a difficult task. I was worried about finding someone with experience that I could trust but also liked and felt comfortable with. Joanna Petit-​Frere and I did a trial the day I had my engagement photos taken. Her resume and level of experience is impressive. Her skill and artistry is apparent once she starts working on you. I was a little concerned at some of her before and after photos because her makeup looks a little heavy, but when I saw my makeup completed it was absolutely gorgeous. In photos in looked flawless and not over the top or heavy at all. I loved her so much I had to use her for my wedding!
On my wedding day, I felt completely confident in Joanna’s hands. She was a complete joy to work with, lovely, professional and very personable. She transformed myself and my bridesmaids! I can honestly say, I have never looked so good. My close up wedding photos are truly stunning and I owe that all to Joanna. My makeup looked flawless through the whole day. Despite dancing on a warm June day, my makeup never deteriorated. Joanna’s work is truly flawless and she has a wealth of experience, any bride can feel truly at ease in her hands. Her prices are expensive, but you are paying for quality work. Do not be cheap with makeup. You want to make sure your pictures look amazing!
