Where else can one buy a 40 of Olde E and salonpas? I come here for the alcohol, whether I keeps it classy with Cabernet or real with the brown bag. For the ladies, I get that hard cider or them Jack Daniel mixed drinks. If I feel like going over the top, I might get a bag of shrimp chips. Real talk — this is the best liquor store in the area, both for price and selection. If you need more options, you probably have to drive. (^_^) Alcohol Options (^_^) Service (^_^) Non-Alcohol items (^_^) Accessibility (^_^) Bang for buck Glad I came. I am a regular. Next 40, I’ll pour one out for the homies.

I stopped in on my way home from work, it very small tiny, but it did the job picked up two bottles of the yellow tail moscato for $ 15, not bad they don’t have the biggest selection but the prices are not bad at all.

So I find two six packs of Coors and take them to the counter. The gentleman working the register asks if I saw the twelve packs at the back? Because that would be a better price. Hey you gotta like that. I was home again. I came of age, I think the saying is, going to stores exactly like this place in the beach communities of southern California which is where I was visiting from. It is easy to find if you know where the Gate is and have the name of the store. STG I walked around Chinatown for like thirty, forty minutes looking for it and I had already been there the night before! I was staying at the Revere Hotel and walking was no problem. Chinatown is cool in it’s own right. I mean the restaurants, along with Joe’s on Newbury street, are the best in Boston. So ya, I’d go there again and you should too.

bought some booze here on a trip, for some reason the wine prices were cheaper than back home, but the spirits were pricier than I would expect. Either way beats $ 14 a pop hotel bar drinks!

A Chinatown liquor store could be much sketchier, but Truong Thanh ain’t that bad. The owners/cashier people all recognize me now I think(we’ve waved to each other in the street), and I think despite their hardened exteriors, they’re nice, funny people. The selection is not terrible considering there’s barely enough room for two people to navigate the aisles side by side, plus the prices are reasonable enough. They also have a bunch of extra refrigerated items in the back if needed. Oh, and if you have a scratch-off lottery ticket addiction… they are well stocked.

I like this liquor store because it’s right by my house. Thus it gets my money and I get their booze. Its a great business relationship. I see nothing wrong with this store.

It’s pretty sketchy from the outside, but we were pleased to discover that this store has a surprisingly good selection and is decently priced given its location. If you can ignore the fact that probably 50% of their customers are hobos, the convenience factor of having a well-stocked liquor store in the middle of Chinatown is well worth the extra $ 1 or so you’ll pay for a six-pack here than say, a suburban liquor store or supermarket.

I’m not a fan of this place. Their prices are average, but that’s about the only good thing. The whole place seems sketchy and the owners were not friendly. I would definitely not go back.

This dark liquor store near the Chinatown Gate can be a measure seedy, but has very reasonable prices. I come here to pick up shao shing(xiao xing) wine and Choya Umeshu. Their pricing on each is very good. The shao shing I pick up runs at about $ 6 per bottle and works wonderfully for the wine-braised pork and chicken dishes I have been cooking lately, though I drink it not. As for umeshu, it runs at $ 15 for the regular and $ 20 for the premium. I have not seen prices lower anywhere on it in the area, even at the New Hampshire state liquor stores. The premium type I do not see in the area. The closest other place I have seen it is at Mitsuwa in Edgewater, New Jersey. The umeshu is dangerous to drink, since despite being about 30 proof, it has less of a liquor taste than just about any schnapps. I have been a witness to many a drunken wedding guest on such. It makes a wonderful sauce with 4 parts umeshu, 2 parts peach schnapps, and 1 part clover honey, reduced to a moderately drizzleable sauce(not quite to the thickness of honey when at room temperature) to drizzle on top of medium sear/broiled duck breast. Service is at a minimum, but when you come in, you grab what you need and get out. The cashier is a little… quirky.
