The Westin Copley Place, Boston

Knowing the «prestige» of the Westin name/​brand, I chose to stay at the Westin Copley over the Fairmont for a first-​time visit to Boston… and boy, was that a mistake I hope others don’t make.
For starters, some issues with the room:
— Toilet requires 4 – 5 flushes to actually flush anything down… this is a terrible waste of water and, for a Westin… really? How is this a problem?
— We were told Microwaves were available on request as part of our reservation, but then we were told it’s actually available for $ 25 a night only… seriously? Motel 8 at this point is a fourth of the price and can provide a clean microwave to use and a working toilet!
— Shower had Hot/​Cold indicators SWITCHED, and the temperature would go hot + cold randomly, regardless of what adjustments are made. Is it that hard to ask for a shower that works properly at ~$ 150 – 200 a night?
— Phone in the room was broken, and only speaker phone + half the buttons worked.
— We received a noise complaint for our TV «being too loud;» the volume was barely a comfortable level for us INSIDE our room, but to get a complaint about it!!! Not to mention… they sent a security guard right outside the door who called you and told you (pretty rudely) to turn the volume down, even though I can pretty much guarantee they themselves could probably hear it… the walls at this Westin are apparently made out of those cheap bamboo walls you can buy at Daiso for a few bucks. I was absolutely LIVID at the complaint and the way it was approached to us… we’re paying customers too and in no way was the volume unreasonable enough to lodge a complaint against… we’re 2 adults who need to also wake up super early in the morning, not a couple of teenagers holding a dance party at 10:30 PM!
Overall:
— Don’t waste your money; there are a whole host of other places to stay at in the Copley area that are no doubt far superior to the absolutely horrible experience we had at the Westin Copley (i’ve stayed at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco, and somehow this Copley location doesn’t even seem like it should be branded as a «Westin»).
Shame on Westin for such a lackuster experience and we sincerely hope other people take their business elsewhere. Even the «worst» AirBnBs in the area will have no issues surpassing the «quality» of service provided here.

I was at the Westin for a conference. The hotel is in a great location, the room was very nice and clean, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We had our twin babies with us and they brought cribs up to our room within minutes of us getting there and they took our luggage up for us which was very nice to not have to worry about with the babies.
The reason they lose a star is because of the elevator situation. They simply don’t have enough for the size of the hotel. When our conference let out the elevators were clogged for over an hour, it was ridiculous. Even in non-​peak times they were fairly slow because they have to stop at so many floors (not enough elevators). They try to make up for that by moving extremely fast when you do get on them. This may help get you where you want to go faster, but it also will leave you a bit queasy.

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. GREAT location. Clean large rooms. Friendly staff: shoutout to Patrick G who was amazing.
Yes the hotel is pricy, but worth every penny. Book with confidence.

My team and I used to organize events at the Westin, and it was not until I heard of this recent occurrence that I’ve deemed it unacceptable to host a new event there from now on.
Apparently one of the guards at the event had pulled a participant aside as he tried to enter the event and denied him entrance on the grounds of him attempting to bring alcohol. When one of his friends stood up for him, and noted that they had just arrived and they were wrongly accusing his friend, the guard then changed his version of the story, accusing him of sexual assault and harassment in the bathroom. As his friend stood up for him, the guard then continued to yell at the friend «you’re not from here, so you can leave too». An instance of clear racism and discrimination, as this friend was non-​Caucasian, this type of behavior was completely unacceptable and inappropriate. Needless to say, in an attempt to «protect» participants, the Westin demonstrated instances of racism and effectively offended many of the participants. At the same time, they’ve also lost a valued customer.

This was a make-​up stay. We stayed here awhile ago & had a negative experience but gave it a second shot.
THE ROOM: we had a beautiful suite w/​an amazing view! The room was spotless, clean, spacious & quiet. The beds were comfortable & we all
Slept soundless. The shower was great.
THE STAFF: check-​in was a bit lackluster, but polite. I had to go back to the front desk the 2cnd day & the agent was super nice & totally fixed my issue in seconds. We also dealt w/​one of the managers and chef. Both were wonderful!!! Housekeeper was friendly. The waiter at bar10 was very good!
The lobby is a nice, relaxing place to sit with a coffee. The gym is good enough to keep up w/​a simple workout.
Overall I would highly recommend the Westin, Copley.

Great location, very nice, clean hotel. Some of staff have an «edge» but it IS Boston. You sort of expect it.
Honestly, though, I find it very tacky to charge $ 15 per day for internet access in the year 2016 and when room already costs ~$ 300. Probably makes a lot of money for them. But will influence me to not stay here again.

As every other review had stated, the location is fantastic! I was here for a conference and I couldn’t have been more impressed with the location!
When I first arrived I was a little confused since the lobby is actually located on the 2^nd floor. There was a young woman who checked me in. She was friendly during the initial check-​in but didn’t offer any information like Internet, location of amenities, etc. I felt that she lacked proactive customer service. The common areas are well appointed and felt clean.
My room was very large, the view was fantastic, but the bathroom was extremely cramped. The rain shower head is a novelty at best. As nice as it is, it’s completely unnecessary and not as functional as a standard shower head.
Other down sides? Lack of open, free Internet. Very thin walls. TV is huge but reception was awful. Desk staff is not super accommodating-​I asked for matches and was just told no rather than being offered an alternative, and it’s expensive.
Positives? Location, event staff was great, common areas are clean.

I have to be fair and say that this review is for their wedding planning services and not the hotel itself. The actual hotel is in a great location and is beautiful inside, hence our interest in hosting our wedding there. I would have reviewed them on their website except you can’t unless you had an actual reservation there soooo here we are.
When we booked our initial visit to the venue, the coordinator (who I won’t name here) told us she would email over some more information about the venue, but she never did and claimed that she had our email written down incorrectly. NBD, it happens.
When we met with the wedding coordinator in person, she had called us and told us she was still at home and was going to be 30 minutes late. Again, NBD as it’s attached to the Pru and there’s tons to do around there. Still, a little unprofessional.
We had a good enough experience and enjoyed the wedding space enough that we scheduled another appointment for February 6^th, the weekend my parents would be in town, and even put a hold on a date! Again, she told us she would email over all of the information she promised, as well as some additional photos of the space with our wedding colors in it. That email never came either.
Now, two weeks later when I took my parents back to the hotel, the wedding coordinator NEVER SHOWED UP and never returned the concierge’s call! We waited for about 20 minutes and then I ended up showing them the space by myself. It’s been a week now and STILL, there has been no phone call, no email, nothing. It’s like we dropped off the face of the earth to this woman. And, not for nothing, but if we’re thinking of giving you tens of thousands of dollars for our wedding, I want it to be with someone who has their stuff together, which clearly this woman does not.

This hotel is really beautiful, clean, and in a great location. I stayed on business and found this to be near plenty of food, a CVS, and in a very safe area. The breakfast options in the hotel are great with a Starbucks and a bistro area called The Huntington.
I popped into The Huntington for a fast but pretty beautiful breakfast of fresh orange juice with pulp and what was called farm stand eggs Benedict. This meal was an English muffin with portobello mushrooms, zucchini, squash, a poached egg and pesto. This all came with a side of small skin on potatoes; delicious, filling, and much cheaper than the buffet.
They have a bar in building with a nice seafood focused menu called Bar10 and the Westin is also connected to Fogo de Chao.
My room had a huge shower and rainwater shower head, a big new tv, and a divine bed that is expected with any Westin room.
I was on the 9^th floor; not too high up, but my view was beautiful.

One of the most comfy hotel beds I have ever slept in. Room was modern and clean. The bathroom and fixtures, in bath and shower were lovely. The room had a fridge, and ample space. The staff was also top notch, and excelled in hospitality. Parking may get you at over 40 $. We got dropped off, and if you want to park nearby, there are lots with in after 5 out before 10 AM specials.

Hands down my *favorite* SPG property in Boston. The staff at Copley are incredibly friendly and accommodating and love to make sure your stay is comfy and fun. I love interacting with them… a great conversation starter is right on their name badge. Each have their passion listed… talk to Juan about his puppy, Patrick about his love of theme parks. These guys are the best!
Rooms are super clean, modern and well appointed. Beds are –so-​comfortable. If you get the option, go with the river front view. It is, by far, the *best* view of Boston in town.
As a frequent flyer at Copley, I feel like I’m coming to my second home every time. I actually look forward to going to Boston for business because I know I’ll get to see the team… will likely have a special treat from Myron… and will always have a great stay because of this staff.
Stay at Westin Copley. Tonight. Get going.

This hotel is nothing short of 5 stars. Hands down one of the best SPG hotel in the east coast. Overall, I’ve had the best service by far at this hotel. As a SPG gold member, I was immediately placed on the 33^rd level with a river front view. Let me say, Boston is beautiful and every time I come here, I feel a certain connection to the city and it’s people.
Located in back bay, it is across the street from the boston public library and is an easy walking distance to the mall, Lord & Taylor, shake shack (!!!), the train station, bus lines, and various bars. It just an excellent location and Westin Copley square will now be my go-​to hotel in Boston.

Great downtown location, excellent service, staff was very friendly and accommodating. My biggest complaint is they desperately need to upgrade their towels and the sheets! The bed was comfortable but the sheets felt so rough, you could tell they had been washed many times. The towels in the bathroom were so old and thin and did not smell all that…

Stayed here years ago. This is part of the venue for the Materials Research Society meeting in Boston. Always held in Boston the week after Thanksgiving and run by the MRS, headquartered in Pittsburgh. Opens into the Copley mall and shopping area. This is a true treat for X’mas shopping and upscale restaurants and stores. So many wonderful memories from attending this conference over the years, dating back to when I was a graduate student. Nostalgia always gets a high rating from me. The Christmas gingerbread houses and ice sculptures on display make this a magic setting. Adjoins the Pru from which skyscraper views of the city await. Many beautiful boutique stores filled with treasures.

This hotel surpassed all of my expectations. The location is perfect for shopping and dining. The décor is sleek and modern. Very spacious rooms. The staff was very friendly and everyone always smiled at you. Tip: be prepared to pay $ 53.00 parking overnight.

Long story short: it reminds me of a Double Tree by Hilton, only a bit fancier. The location is fantastic, the rooms can be quite large and comfortable (the upgrades help) and the gym is the dream of cardio aficionados. There’s also a pool, albeit small.
The breakfast is fine, but I have to say, the waiters go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable, and that’s a welcome plus in the morning.
You can find public parking nearby, which is better than paying the $ 53 for overnight parking, or the $ 23 for a 2-​hr stop.
If you’re into running, you’re a couple of blocks away from the Esplanade, a beautiful promenade by the Charles river. Whether permitting, of course.

Première location fantastic hotel for the weekend. We had room 2105 and had a nice view of Back Bay and downtown Beantown for a couple of nights. From the Westin it was a brisk 20 minute walk to Fenway Park. You have all the best of Boylston and Newbury plus Boston Common a short walk away. Also, the Ultra High end Copley Place mall plus a Nordstrom Rack and Marshall’s a five minute walk away. There are two Starbucks nearby and ohhhh if high quality grilled meat is to your liking then there’s also Fogo De Chao attached to the hotel. Have I said enough? Across the street is a première grocery store called World Market and there is more shopping, restaurants and sights to be seen that can be explained in easy fashion without boring you to pieces!
The rooms are Westin high quality (sheets, beds, pillow! towels and shower). The TV was one of the nicer Ultra HD ones I’ve seen in a hotel. The room we had was not New York Small but not apartment size large for a deluxe room. Overall this property is top notch. All the hotel staff I came across were genuine, friendly and you can see were well trained in Customer Service. It is however a very busy hotel and not a cheap one but hey… in life one must treat oneself.
The pool area was nice. A bit on the smaller side and extremely warm around 90 °F. They do have a decent looking workout gym.
We had a great visit and look forward to returning.

We got a last minute deal online for a Sat to Sun stay, so we packed up the kids for a fun weekend.
Location: One word, ideal. The Westin is right next to the Prudential Center and Copley Square in the Back Bay Area of Boston. Just a few minutes walk to the famous Boylston and Newbury Streets where there’s plenty of shopping and dining.
Lobby: When you enter from the street level it’s a bit confusing as there is no immediate lobby. A set of escalators takes you to the main level where you check in. Elevators are also available. Don’t expect a dramatic or elegant lobby. It’s modern, clean and bright but otherwise sparse. There are four separate desks where they check you in and a key drop for express checkout. Service was pleasant, but unremarkable. There was no queue for my stay, not a very busy weekend.
Wi-​Fi: Available, but not free. A huge letdown this day and age.
Rooms: Got a king bed standard room on the 22^nd floor. Nice comfy bed, pleasant décor/​furnishings and very clean. The bathroom was a bit cramped, but the waterfall shower made up for it. Large bank of windows for beautiful Boston views (try to get rooms facing northeast for Charles River and skyline views.). The AC worked flawlessly. My only gripe, the walls were somewhat thin. Our neighbors woke us up sometime in the wee hours carrying on conversations and slamming doors.
Pool: There’s a nice small indoor pool on the 5^th floor which the kids loved. Looked like nice workout facilities too, but I didn’t utilize them.
Check Out: Was a breeze since I prepaid. Again, no queues. However when I mentioned our noisy neighbors, I just received an unsympathetic apology.
Parking: There’s a parking garage on Garrison St (116 Huntington Bldg) that charged $ 22 for overnight, weekend parking. Otherwise it’s $ 53 for overnight at the hotel.
Overall we had a wonderful stay at the Westin and I highly recommend it. We’ll definitely stay here again when another last minute special pops up.

We enjoyed our stay at the Westin Copley. On the 27^th floor, our room was oriented so that we had an awesome view of both the Charles River and the bay. 5 stars for that view. Location is excellent too, super central and convenient for visiting touristy things.
The problems we ran into were typical of a large hotel that is part of a large chain. We checked in a day before our «convention rate» started, and despite reviewing the situation a few times prior to arrival and again at check-​in — — - that situation being that we didn’t want to have to switch rooms when the group rate started, we ended up getting locked out of our room on day 2. Had to go down to the front desk and straighten it out… which really should NOT have been necessary. Sigh.
Also they charge for wi-​fi, which sucks. Beds are a bit soft for our taste but ok for me overall, the husband complained of a backache.
I think it’s absolutely great that you can open a window and get fresh air. However, there is a LOT of noise coming from, I think, the HVAC system stuff on the roof of the Fairmont across the street. That was super annoying. I could be wrong about the source of this constant din, and the street noise was fine… I mean it was present, but expected.
Wouldn’t stay here without the group rate we got for most nights, for our solo night it came to about $ 400, ouch.

Being an SPG member I would say that overall this property is consistent with other Westins I have stayed at. The location is awesome — Copley Place is very near where the Boston Marathon is run and is walking distance to Boylston Street shopping, Prudential complex, Duck tour stop, and Trinity Church/​Library. Everywhere else is just a short über away. The interior is pretty nice and Bar 10 has pretty good food and a full bar. My wife was here for a convention so they must be good for large meetings/​conventions as well. My only complaint would be that the walls are pretty thin. We were able to hear people talking quietly on both sides so I can only imagine what they heard coming from our room…
