The Red Wagon

This store is like a cute, boutique. I found several outfits for the grandkids, and each one was just adorable. They don’t sell clothes like this everywhere. I sure hope they like them!

My family has been shopping at Red Wagon for years. As a family in Beacon Hill. Our children love the staff and the clothes. Truly a gem in Beacon Hill.

Adorable! Extremely expensive ($ 70 for a toddler sweater) but it’s the nature of the neighborhood, and frankly I bought two, so there is that. :-) staff seemed charming.

Please do not patronize The Red Wagon!
I just returned from my shopping experience there and was very disappointed with my initial interaction with them. Living nearby, I thought it would be nice to patronize a local store when purchasing my infant son’s first pair of shoes. When we arrived with our stroller in the store, I noticed within a few seconds that there was a thumbtack with promotional cards stuck to the inflatable tire of our stroller! I pulled it out and exclaimed to the store clerk, «What is a thumbtack doing on the floor of a kid’s store?» There was no response to my question as she took took the thumbtack.
I should have realized then and there that this was likely representative of our remaining shopping experience. My assumption with shopping at a local store is that the premium you pay goes toward better customer service and more time spent with the customer. Our store clerk was brief, minimally helpful, and we had to ask questions to get information from her. Although she stated that she has 6 years of shoe experience, I didn’t feel good about the shoes we eventually purchased. You would think that someone with this much experience and who works at a place such as The Red Wagon should be able to make the customer feel happy with their purchase.
In the end, I’m upset with myself and them. I was in a daze when I purchased the shoes. They are non-​refundable, and they only do exchanges or store credit.
Moreover, I’m upset with the store. There were NO apologies or attempts to assuage our concerns. Why is there a thumbtack on the floor of a kid’s store? There are young children and infants who likely walk in with their parents, and you can imagine what might happen if they accidentally stepped on it! It bothers me that they never apologized or stated how they might avoid this in the future (i.e. don’t use thumbtacks to stick things onto the walls). So, my recommendation is not to shop at this store – is this the type of experience you want to have? And, more importantly, do you want to patronize people who don’t seem to care about the safety of their customer’s children?

This place is the perfect place to go if you need a unique baby gift and don’t want to get someone the same old boring outfits from chain stores. A favorite are the animal towels, soft receiving blankets and onesies with witty slogans! They also have adorable little snow boots, sweaters, and knit hats. It’s also very convenient because they have cards that are right there at the counter and gift wrap everything up for you. Definitely not the type of place to buy your child’s whole wardrobe for, but perfect for the unique accents that will make them stand out and make for great gifts for your friends!

I love this little shop. They have adorable clothing and toys for babies and children of all ages. They are a bit on the expensive side, but if I wanted cheap, low-​quality goods, I would go to Wal-​Mart. I love the selection and this shop makes me happy. I always find something interesting when I come here.

Everyone keeps saying it’s pretty expensive but you can find some items reasonably priced and everything is great quality and not what you would find at your usual department store, so you get what you pay for: quality and exclusivity. You’re also paying for boutique brands on Charles St., what did you expect?
They get new items all the time so it’s not always the same clothes, shoes and toys which provides great selection if you can’t find something you like or the size when you go in the first time.
They also have a preteen/​juniors section upstairs that, Yes unfortunately/​sadly (?), I luck out sometimes and find some great jeans or tops I can fit into.
Great place to grab an interesting and fun gift that you know won’t be duplicated at your next niece/nephew/cousin’s birthday party.
Staff is super nice, helpful and knowledgeable as well :)

great selection on all toys and clothings. but i am not so sure i want to spent so much $$$ on kids clothes.

Stolling down trendy Charles street, they have some nice little boutique stores. This place is one of them, although a little yuppie, it has a very friendly staff and some unique kids clothes and toys. You can really find some one of a kind stuff here and it appears they have more girls things than boys. The only issue I find is that some of the items are a little over priced. I mean not just by a small amount but when you see a boys onsy that has nothing really to it for 58 bucks,…then we have a small problem. Nice things but I would be careful spending that much if you can find it elsewhere maybe online for cheaper.

Very cute children’s store. You’ll find very original and eclectic clothes for kids here. Cute and playful with a great selection of clothes, shoes, accessories and toys, you’ll find a lot of stuff here that you won’t find anywhere else.
It can be on the expensive side, but then again, its in Beacon Hill so its all relative.

Really cute clothes for kids, and all sorts of gifty items. I was torn between a holiday sweater, a wooden multi-​piece toy, and a soft plush animal… it’s just too hard to choose!

This is my go-​to place for baby shower presents. They have a cute selection of onesies, hats, and little shoes for newborns as well as clothes and toys for older kids. The prices would be prohibitive if you were buying an entire wardrobe but are just right for a present. Plus they helpfully put your purchase in a decorated gift bag for free — all you have to do is provide the card.

The very best dressed kids in Boston must shop here… or at least their parents do…
Yes it’s pricey, but if you have to splurge on a special gift you will most likely find something cool for the little tyke or tykette here.
From clothes and shoes to bags books and toys… their adorable collection is quite impressive…
Now I certainly did not wear pink suede winter boots with a phở fur trim when I was a kid –but why should that stop little fashionistas– in –the making from doing so?

If you have the money, buy all your kids’ clothes from the Red Wagon. If not, use this awesome spot for gifts, special occasion clothes and the sporadic splurge item. While most of their stuff can be a bit pricy, there are certain things worth paying a little more for anyways. The cotton rollneck sweaters are a great example — my cousins each have 2 of these sweaters and, at $ 50 each, they aren’t cheap, but they’re a classic piece they can wear almost all year. Buy a size up, as the sweaters look good both baggy and fitted. They’ve got a good stock of lilly pulitzer dresses, but it’s the funky colored lilly-​look-​alikes that I think are worth it. They’re cotton, washable, super cute, and $ 30 each. Examples like this are the real deal on the Wagon — sometimes, you need to make a little extra effort to find the bargains, but the clothes are always well-​made and beautiful. Go here.

I never know how many stars to give a place that has very cute things that are crazy expensive. The children’s clothing pieces here are nicer than the clothes I wear! And more expensive than my clothes. Price tags are often between $ 50 – 125 for one piece. For those of you without kids, kids wear clothes for such a short period of time. They have a so-​so selection of toys in this store. With all that said, if you need a gift for… your bosses child or your boyfriends niece, and want to impress the world, you will easily accomplish this!

This is a totally cute kids store. Toy boats, cars, stuft animals galore. Everything seems pretty well made and exciting– the experience may just inspire you to be six again. GREAT FOR: reliving your past, getting kids toys.
