Pros: friendly, nice, efficient, showed up and delivered on time. Working w/​the office ahead of time was a pleasure and seamless.
Cons: they didn’t use dropcloths or whatever those are called, and the wood furniture (coffee table, chair) got scratched. We patched up the scratches with stains, but it was totally weird to not use some kind of padding for the furniture.

I moved in August right before the peak week at the end of the month. The movers were on time, if not a bit early, and they were quick and professional. They couldn’t have been nicer, especially in the face of a tiny staircase in Beacon Hill!
The whole move took 4 – 5 hours. It was a little more than I expected, and there was a whole hoopla with payment going through twice. Overall though, they were a great choice for movers and took great care of my things, especially all of my paintings. I would definitely use them again.

I have used TOGM half a dozen times for apartment moves and furniture deliveries. Their rates have to be close to the lowest in Greater Boston — esp for comparable service — and they are easy to schedule — even on very short notice. They’ve packed my belongings on several of my moves and did so VERY carefully and cleanly — and they will ask questions for specific instructions as often as you may require. They’ve dissembled and reassembled my bed frame every time — not an easy task. They are friendly and cheery and Julius, the owner, is reliable and communicative. I wouldn’t use any other mover.
Those folks leaving negative reviews about price quotes seemingly have little experience with movers because TOGM rates are low and accurate. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to find a mover that does not charge travel time — esp in a city like Boston. I’ve also never had TOGM arrive late or linger longer to rack up the bill. In fact, they strive to move as swiftly as possible. And BTW– they don’t take breaks on the clock (and I believe they are entitled to small stoppages).
In my last move, TOGM arrived to my new apartment (w all my belongings) ahead of schedule and the loading dock was not yet available. They had already been moving me for four hours and I offered for them to grab lunch/​coffee and I would pay for the 35min until the dock became available. They refused and proceeded to expeditiously move all the encased items [in freezing rain and wind] from down the block so as not to prolong the move.

The team was fast, efficient, professional, and courteous. The move wasn’t large, but it was slightly complicated and they handled it perfectly. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I would highly recommend them, and will use them again in the future.

Just used the Other Guys and they were great. Walter, Devon and Carlton were top notch. They were fast, efficient, flexible with how we wanted things and great with our kids.
They’re simply all around good dudes that I wouldn’t hesitate to use again.

The Other Guys moved me within floors of the same building. The team was two guys, one experienced, who was decent and the other new, who wasn’t as good. The main issues were:
— When I reserved, I had the impression that travel time for them to get to my place was not billed. I think the agent said travel time was «included» in the hourly rate, which in retrospect I suppose was ambiguous.
— A piece of custom walnut furniture ended up with white paint scratches on it. I’m pretty sure it was them because I had them move the item as a stack of boards and the paint scratches crossed the boards in a continuous way, suggesting that they occurred when the boards where stacked. I looked into getting the scratches removed, and repair shops said just use goof-​off, which did remove the paint, but also left behind a solvent discoloration on the wood :(.
— I asked them to lower a mattress over a balcony, and they didn’t me it was an extra $ 40 charge (on top of their hourly rate) till I got the bill at the end.
On the plus side, I was pleasantly surprised that Other Guys promptly sent me $ 5 for the goof-​off (I emailed a pic of the white paint issue). Not sure if their claims process is that straightforward when the dollar amount is higher, but it’s better than other companies that make you jump through a lot of hoops.

Unprofessional and unreliable.
They told us they could move us on a certain date. We said ok. A couple of days pass without hearing from them. We have to repeatedly call and email. We finally get a hold of them and they say, «oh yes, no problem — you’re all set for that date, we’ll send you a contract soon.» Then, later that day after everywhere else is closed, they email to say «we just updated our calendar and don’t have that date or anything within a few days of it.»
We had stopped looking for alternatives since they said they could do it and they left us high and dry.
If you want a place that will tell you honestly if they are full and a place that will answer their phone and return calls and emails promptly, look elsewhere.

They are as good as the reviews are. I had to relocate to Minneapolis from Boston, Jane was always quick to respond to emails/​phone calls — There was no onsite estimate provided since I was in Shrewsbury, but even their estimate was close to onsite estimates that I received from other movers, may be few dollars here n there…
The day of the move — Walter and team showed up right on time and took charge of the things, Within few hours the house was all packed up — they took care of every small request with a smile — that goes a long way in making your move smooth… The delivery/​unpacking was even better, Vaughn and team worked around their schedule to meet us at the time we wanted to, delivered everything to specific rooms. There was some issue with missing hardware for assembly, which they were ready to even go to a local hardware store to procure and make sure I was not hassled. Finally, when it came to billing me, Jane took dollars off for unused packing supplies and packing hours — no question asked.
I can go on and on about other things, but I could not have made a better choice for moving with them, the experience of moving, which is normally «stressful», is fun with these guys. highly recommend.

I’ve used TOGM twice, and was very impressed with my experience. The first time, they accommodated an ever-​changing timeline (at the beginning of September, the craziest time to move in Boston) and always went out of their way to be kind, helpful, and make a very stressful time easier.
The second time was an easier move, but TOGM was just as wonderful. They remembered me from my move the 10 months prior, worked very hard, did an amazing job, and even gave my mother in law a t-​shirt because she was «part of the family» after the two moves!
If I ever need movers, or am asked for a recommendation, I don’t need to think about it-​The Other Guys puts everyone else to shame.

I was impressed with so many positive reviews — so many more than almost any other mover by far. I guess this should have been an «if it looks too good to be true» moment.
I contacted the company about my move, exchanged emails with estimates based on home size, certificates of insurance, delivery time frames. The estimate was higher than I expected, but as they explained they handled pack/​unpack with their crew (no contracting out), I felt the peace of mind might warrant the price tag. With about 2 ½ weeks until our load date, TOGM was to come out for the official onsite estimate. The night before I received an email that they would have to cancel the onsite estimate as they could no longer accommodate the move/​storage. No further explanation given, no apology and no suggestion or referral to another moving company.
I had no words at that time as I was stunned. I found the words now. An already stressful time with a house sale and move made significantly worse by TOGM’s callousness.

The Other Guys did an outstanding job with my move from Waltham, MA to Brooklyn, NY. The move included a piano and delicate sound equipment. It was all handled extremely thoughtfully and everything from the communication with the office pre-​move to the actual move itself was a class act. Everyone was a pleasure to interact with and we were very impressed with their attitude, efficiency and cost-​effectiveness. This was my best move by far! This is a clearly a company that takes a lot of pride in what they do.

They said they’ll come between 1~3 pm and now it’s five, still nobody. My apt needs to apply for the move seven days ahead, and the timing is regulated from 1~5pm.
Still waiting. Have no ideas what to do.

Honestly a bit surprised to be writing a good review about a moving company, but I really had to give these guys proper respect! No move is easy, and nothing is perfect… Stuff gets scratched, things take longer than expected, etc. However, this was by far the best moving experience we have ever had! Good coordination from the start, best price I received by 15%, and really excellent packers and loaders! Proper care with everything, special details we asked for, the whole nine yards… More importantly, the whole crew had a really great attitude, and made a really lousy day as good as it can be. Thank you! Seriously, thank you!

We decided to use The Other Guys Moving Co. based on all the positive Unilocal reviews, and we were not disappointed! Mario and Walter showed up on schedule, and were professional, polite, funny and efficient. They handled all of our belongings with extreme care, including my heavy, yet fragile antique 1920’s lamp, which arrived at our new place in one piece and without a scratch. These guys were wonderful, and had us packed up in Cambridge and unpacked in our new place in Melrose in only a few hours. There were no surprises with the cost or hidden fees, and was right on with what they quoted us.
Overall, we were very pleased and would definitely recommend!

I can’t believe I forgot to update my review for TOGMC! Used them again when we moved from the South End to our house in Watertown a few years back and they were just as amazing as they were the first time we used them. They even put together a table for us (that wasn’t together in our old place). Super nice, hard working, considerate, and reliable. The best moving company ever.

We had a winter move from Boston to Los Angeles, and working with Jane and the team at Other Guys made all the difference. The coordinating team was communicative, flexible, well-​priced and extremely professional, going above and beyond (including delivering packing material on the weekend). On both sides, the movers were great — efficient, careful, and patient when we wanted to move large pieces around to find the right spot.
They stuck to the estimate, which was more than competitive with other options. And they were able to be flexible with the delivery date — even shifting departure times around to accommodate bad weather predicted for the cross-​country drive.
Moving across country was made so much easier because of Other Guys’ reliability and competence. I would use them again and recommend them for any major moves. Great team!

It’s 11:30, I’m sitting among my packed boxes and waiting for the truck and movers who were supposed to be here between 10:30 and 11. It’s not as though they’re coming from far away — I live in Boston, after all. What’s more frustrating is that their phone number forwards to an automated message directing you to the website, and no one has contacted me about the truck being late, where they are or when I can expect them to arrive.
Needless to say, I’m pretty annoyed.
Please for the love of god pick up the phone, or shoot me a text or just show up when you say you’re going to show up.
After all the great reviews on Unilocal I really thought today would be starting off a little better — *fingers crossed* for a better rest of the day

They did a fantastic job with my interstate move! I also actually paid what I was quoted. I feel like this is a rarity in moving situations. Definitely a pleasant surprise vs my previous interstate move (not so pleasant surprise!)
Walter and Mario did a fantastic job packing up my things. They were super sweet and very personable. I had very fragile all mirrored pieces and they were delivered in perfect condition (unlike my last move, which one had arrived cracked and broken).
They were also very responsive via text and email. I would definitely recommend the other guys for an interstate move!

The scene this morning was my worst moving fear realized. We had the truck in front of our new apartment, we had even begun unloading everything onto the sidewalk in preparation for our 7 – 9 am moving slot with Anton’s Movers. At 7:20, my husband was grumbling about my ability to book timely movers. (I called Anton. No answer. Left message.) At 7:30, my husband was carrying boxes in and I was calling again. (No answer. Left message.) At 7:50, my husband was PISSED and I was in a panic. (I called again. No answer. One more message.) With my tail between my legs, I called three other local companies and left them shot-​in-​the-​dark SOS messages. We moved half of our things up three floors and then — wahoo! — at 8:20, we got a call from The Other Guys (a propos, no?) who said they’d have a guy there in 30 minutes!
At 8:45, Julius was there making quick work of the rest of our move. He was friendly, efficient, and super strong. He saved the day (and our marriage probably!) and was still reasonably priced, even for emergency moving services. THANK YOU!!!

Where to begin? The beginning. Last year, I had to move my boss, via satellite, me being in LA, him being in Boston. A dedicated Unilocaler, I turned to this terrific site and took the high reviews to heart, making the initial call as I landed in Boston.
Jane called me back immediately and had Julius come out that very day.
Julius (who would look at home on the set of GAME OF THRONES as an exotic royal that tames the dragons) showed up and didn’t bat an eye at what I thought was a somewhat big job with no time to delay.
He assessed the situation and reassured me that i wasn’t going to leave my boss high & dry.
Best of all, he was very accurate in his pricing, I thought it was a mistake, at first, that he’d bid too low and that we’d get an ugly surprise down the road. Nope. In no way was that the case. They were honest, fast, and just DID IT ALL.
My boss’ desk is this giant behemoth, a wooden whale of a piece of furniture, it took five to six guys to move it down the steps. Not a whine or a crossed-​eye. They were laughing and joking about it. They even did a friend of Boss’ a favor and moved some of his stuff that had been stored at the house for him at no extra charge.
Who does that?!

You know, they pack things for you, I have been a life-​long self-​mover. I didn’t even know luxuries like this existed. They pack and label and do it all for you, if you can’t, won’t or don’t want to. Kevin is the wrapping pro, with a terrific accent to boot.
They used so much tape, SO MUCH TAPE! Not one thing was broken in the move, and in fact, on the move in to the NY house, Julius left us a couple of his blankets (don’t expect this, and Jane, please don’t yell at him!) He didn’t want the Boss’ couch touching the ground of the sorta dirty NY storage space. Come on! What a prince.
They moved things into a winter wonderland, walking some of the heavier pieces BY HAND over frozen grounds with icy paths. Things I wouldn’t have asked my dearest friends or worst enemies to do, they did, with the best attitude.
They didn’t expect anything, but I felt so grateful, I got them pizza, we tipped them out and was still amazed that they moved that beast of a desk into the farthest part of the property, without any discernible bitching. I took a photo with them at the end of the move, when we had put the rest of the stuff into a storage space, they made me an honorary «Other Guy» mover.
Moving (even when it’s not your stuff) is a stressful thing, and they did everything to make me calm and reassured. Extra grateful for all the good times during our move.
Last thing I will say, wonder if they will come out to California when we do eventually move!!! Fingers crossed!
