The Eliot Hotel

We had a great experience here. My husband is a terrible planer, we arrived here at 10 am with no reservation. They dont have a room available and we are not allowed to check in until 3pm. However, they actually called us when they had a room available at 11am. And they took care of our suitcases before checking in and after checking out. They have tags and everything. My husband lost the key (man we were terrible customers but forgive my husband, he felt terrible too) They gave us the spare key as requested.
Everything here is rather vintage looking, the elevator is gorgeous. The only down side here is that they dont have any toothbrush, this is the first hotel that I have been to without toothbrush. The Internet is fast and easy to register. Oh, another thing I love the most is the curtain, it blocked the light like no other. My husband and I slept during the day because we were out during the night. We woke up around 2pm and it was very dark in the room. I love it.
We will comeback to this hotel when we visit Boston again next year.

The front desk clerk was excessively surly and completely untrained in even the basics of customer service, much less hospitality. They should take a lesson from the two bellhops, who were personable and professional. As a local business owner that frequently hosts travelers, I rely on the excellent service offered by luxury boutique hotels in Boston. But I will never stay at this hotel or put up friends or family here again.

Ab Fab! This hotel is the best deal in town. The suits are like small apts with an entry way, wet bar, bed, living and bathroom. The room was wonderfully decorated And clean to my some what high standards. This is a historic property so it has a lot of older charm. All of the staff was very kind and accommodating to any request. I made many requests for dinner reservations, tickets and Angel took care of everything. Any comproable hotel in Boston would go for at least twice the price they are asking. The restaurant Uni is so wonderful you don’t have to leave the hotel. The sake bar is the best of the best. It can be an expensive sushi restaurant depending on what you order. If you want some luxury and to feel fancy for a weekend coupled with real value this is the spot. I can’t wait to come back.

This hotel was incredible. Beautiful, clean, five star experience. The employees were all wonderful. Great location, close to Newbury street, with two fantastic restaurants located just downstairs. Beds were very comfortable and pricing can’t be beat. Highly recommend!

Amazing place to stay in a great part of town if you want to catch some baseball. Old school feel for sure and they could use a bit of renovating but the service, feel, top notch restaurants and huge rooms make up for it.

Bear with me, folks; my review may sound negative at first, but I assure you it is positive.
My husband and I stayed at The Eliot the night of our wedding. We live about an hour outside of the city and had a very small wedding at Castle Island, so part of the purpose for our room was so that our 3 accompanying witnesses could change and put on makeup.
At check-​in time, we told our valet that we would be leaving within the hour to get married, and he kept the car waiting for us on Mass Ave for no charge, which was wonderful.
Our room was on the fifth floor at the end of a hall, with two rooms abutting it. I didn’t think it would be an issue, and thought nothing of it, considering we weren’t there to party and were hardly going to be in the room anyway. We recieved several noise complaints before 8pm, even though we were barely talking, and were only in the room for a grand total of an hour and a half, so be warned that the walls are thin, or that your room may be adjacent to a couple of cranky adult babies.
The windows were huge and we opened them to let in a nice fall breeze. Our view was of the public alley, but I didn’t care, as I was only going to be there to sleep. The mattress was plush and comfortable, the closets were gigantic, there was a stocked mini-​bar, snacks, a bench at the foot of the bed, which was very convenient, a comfy chair, a desk with outlets, and two large, gorgeous mirrors.
But the bathroom. THE BATHROOM. It was gigantic. The shower was large and tiled and the sink had a doubly large counter top, which was perfect for three girls tp do their makeup. There was even an attached magnifying mirror. The bathroom made getting ready so much easier.
We got changed, dolled ourselves up, and left. I said I do, my husband vowed to love me forever, woo-​hoo! The whole thing was done by sunset. We went to dinner, came back at 2am, passed out. Zzzzzz.
Check-​out was easy and quick, I asked if the payment went through immediately, and they assured me it did. I’m a cook, and so is my husband, so we don’t make a lot of money, hence our wedding being as small and simple as it was. There was $ 100 hold in addition to the room cost, and I needed that money to be available for my brunch.
Went to Eastern Standard, ate, went to pay, and we were declined. I walked back to the hotel and explained that I was stranded with my meal, and needed them to release the hold on my money. They did EVERYTHING in their power to make sure that we were assisted. They called my bank, and could not get the hold removed, so they gave me $ 100 cash, in addition to the held money. I was astounded! I burst into tears, I was so moved by the compassionate gesture.
The Eliot Hotel is handsome, hitoric and convenient, but what really is the most valuable attribute of The Eliot is their five-​star customer service. They truly lived up to their reputation and I would absolutely stay there again.

We stayed at the Eliot while in Boston last week. We had my parents, sister, and my two year old son with us… we were a large group with lots of needs and luggage! The staff at the Eliot blew us away with their customer service and friendly attitude. From the bag of toys they gave us when we first arrived to the very last taxi they helped us with… everything was flawless in terms of customer service. My sister even made the comment «I don’t even think you get this great of service at the Four Seasons.» And not only was the staff great, but the rooms are well-​designed (I’m an interior designer, so I know these things) and they were very functional with the suite. Will definitely be back next time we’re in Boston!

Service from the valet to the doorman was incredible. Not giving 5 stars only because we haven’t stayed the night here but totally plan to in the future. Your customer service rocks!

The service here has really gone down hill. Recently had the whole family here for a special event and it was an absolute disaster, one blunder after another including the misplacement of a graduation cake and being incredibly rude to my sister when she went to check in after a red eye from Caifornia. And the staff didn’t handle it particularly well. While I still love the décor, I don’t think that we will be back. I have made excuses for them for quite awhile about why their staff is subpar, but after our last experience I don’t think I can continue having friends and family stay here.

Such a great location and the service is friendly fast and fantastic.
Asked for and got extra pillows, ice buckets, extra mattress on the sofa bed.
Doormen friendly and funny. If and when we come back to Boston. This is it.

I recently stayed at the hotel for a 4 night stay. The location is great. I didn’t have a car during my vacation but getting from the airport to the hotel was no problem. I took the new airport shuttle to the back bay stop and had a short walk to the hotel. This was $ 5 without the local transportation card, but I bought a week pass so it was free. It’s in a really nice neighborhood. The price was great compared to other hotels in the location. We were upgraded to a suite which was the first time I’ve been lucky enough to have this happen. The staff was very friendly. In the suite there was a keurig which is really handy, so if you plan on staying in one that you can bring your own kcups. There is a trader joe’s nearby which was really convenient as well.
Pros: great location, friendly staff, great neighborhood, no issues with housekeeping
Cons: small bathroom, no fridge, (I’m a small person but if someone is tall or overweight this could have been nearly impossible to use)

Fantastic hotel! We stayed here for one night (last night) because the Marriott Back Bay didn’t have availability for last night as part of our long weekend stay. Needless to say, I wish we had stayed here every night!
Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a suite from our basic room — what a great surprise. The room was perfect. It had a classic décor and was absolutely beautiful. Exactly what you would expect and hope for in a classic Boston hotel on Comm ave. The bed was even better — I don’t think I’ve ever slept in such a comfortable bed away from home. Everyone working here from the doorman, front desk attendees, and house keepers were all out-​of-​their-​way nice to me and my girlfriend during our stay also.
I can’t say enough nice things about this hotel. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone needing a nice stay in the Boston area.

Several years ago now the company I was working for had one of their monthly company wide meetings at The Eliot Hotel. And while I don’t recall much about that meeting, I do recall how lovely I thought the hotel was.
Flash forward to this past December when my partners company had their holiday party at the hotel. They had rooms booked, ours ended up being a lovely queen size room complete with a couch and fantastic view (corner room, yay!). They had a cocktail hour and appetizers at the restaurant Uni, then the company dinner at Clio. It was just the entire company, so we didn’t have to worry about any other patrons in the restaurant. It was an absolute superb time.
The hotel staff was so very friendly and knowledgeable on things in the area. Even if we really didn’t need any help getting around (native to Boston and live close by).
The room itself was fully stocked and very clean. We indulged in the mini bar and had a blast drinking the bottle of champagne stashed away inside. Opps.
Overall a really great hotel. My favorite part would have to be the beautiful elevators.

Can’t say anything bad about The Eliot at all. Greeted warmly at the door, asked all the right questions about whether we needed anything at all, and were told about the big beautiful black umbrella in the closet of our room as it was pouring the day we stayed here. Well done all around.
Elevators can have a bit of a wait as they are small and old but that’s about as bothered as I was by anything during my stay here. Found it to be expensive, but relatively speaking a good deal less than the big chains around. Would definitely stay here again.

A beautiful hotel in the perfect location! We had a girls night recently and decided to book a room at this hotel– we ended up getting a suite.
The hotel valet is convenient, not too expensive ($ 36/​night), and right out front, so we didn’t have to worry about finding parking in the city.
Upon walking into the hotel, we felt like Eloise at the Plaza. The hotel is beautifully maintained, and the staff is so warm and welcoming, as well as extremely knowledgable and professional.
Our room was definitely up to par. Plenty of towels, very comfortable beds with extra pillows and blankets in the huge closet, and an array of snacks and beverages. There was a Keurig in our room with a few selections of K-​cups, which I thought was a nice touch.
There is a restaurant downstairs, as well as a late-​night Ramen noodle bar– which unfortunately we missed.
Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The combination of wonderful staff and fantastic accommodations can’t be beat.

Words can’t describe how amazing of a hotel this is. I mean it’s fancy service there to serve your every need and they really know how to take care of their guests. We arrived at the hotel and right away they valet our car and held the door for us. They took my bags for me and even pushed the elevator door for me. That’s just the lobby. Now the room is just breathtaking outstanding. A couch area with super soft couches and the beds are like sleeping on a cloud. The shower is super nice and it’s just an amazing suite on the corner of the hotel. I want to move into this place. Oh and I forgot to mention they have a keurig coffee maker. I love this hotel

We stayed here over the weekend and are on the fence as to whether we would stay again or not. This is a beautiful hotel and the location is excellent. Plenty of shopping and dining options within walking distance. Yet very quiet despite all the traffic bustle surrounding it.
The Staff: Very friendly and accommodating. Top notch as I would expect from a hotel of this class.
The Room: We had a suite. There was a very large bedroom and also a sofa bed. The room was very clean, nicely appointed with a desk, minibar, a TV in each room, and climate control. The décor was nice as well. The bed was extremely comfortable. The sofa bed, not so much.
The bathroom was tiny and there was only a shower (no tub). If you weren’t careful you’d bump yourself on the sink every time you used the toilet. It also took forever to get hot water in the shower. It was just too small for our taste.
The Food: We ordered room service during normal hours and I have to say the quality of the food, considering the price, was disappointing. The menus for Clio and Uni, the hotel restaurants, are small and there isn’t much variety for picky eaters. Also, I feel like basics such as coffee and tea with an in-​room maker should be free. $ 5 is a bit much. Also, you could not get your own ice. That had to be brought from the kitchen and of course like every other little thing, you have to tip.
Other: I love that this hotel is pet friendly. Pets stay free of charge which is great. Our pets felt welcome, not just accommodated.
Be prepared to tip. The valet, doorman, room service, turn down service (if you use the sofa bed there are no linens – they come and make it for you), maid, ice delivery…
Overall a very nice hotel, but could use some work on the details. The bedroom had no vanity and the bathroom was a closet, so there was nowhere comfortable to do makeup and hair. Make coffee and tea free. And work on the quality of room service dining. Really minor things, but need work.

We returned last week and had a great visit. The first suite they took us too was rather small and had lots of traffic noise. They cheerfully moved us to a much quieter and slightly larger suite which was very nice.
We will continue to stay here and recommend it to everyone.

This is a beautiful historic hotel in the middle of Boston. The doormen greet and assist every time you enter or leave the hotel. The marble lobby is grand and even the historic elevators are charming. The suite room was large and comfortable. We had cookies, chocolate, and coffee greet us when we first entered the room. After our first night, we wanted to move in permanently.
My only complaint is that we had to ask them to clean our room and, even after doing so, the cleaning was subpar, at best. They made the bed, but did not swap the used glasses/​mugs and did not empty any of the trash.

I actually am a little biased towards the Eliot Hotel. When I worked next door at the Harvard Club, I got to know the wonderful owner of the Eliot.
I got a chance to stay here a couple of weeks ago when I came up for business/​baseball game/​time with my love. I was upgraded to a suite on the top floor, which was beautiful. Quaint, with a sitting area and a perfectly sized bedroom. The old key is an elegant touch.
I really can’t describe this hotel any better– staff was great, stay was great.
If you’re not familiar with Boston– this is a great location. A couple of blocks from the Common/​Garden (in alphabetical order, even!) down Newbury Street, a little ways away from Fenway Park, and right near a T stop. You really can’t get any better.
An intimate hotel that is perfect for a romantic stay with your love or time for business with… whomever you choose.
